Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Melbourne v Fremantle @ Fremantle Oval - 5th March, 2015

Except from The Age

The Dees will be close to full strength against Fremantle with only Bernie Vince (hamstring), Jeremy Howe (hamstring), Dean Terlich, Jack Fitzpatrick and Jack Trengove (foot) sitting out the match.

Have they forgotten someone? Mr. Watts.

All over, was a blowing out the cobwebs session nothing more. No drills, just shots at goal and kick to kick.

From tomorrow night onwards Salem will become everyones top 5.

I've always thought this kid is the best kid I've seen us draft.

There are no flaws in his game, I've watched him since juniors and he has a blend of polish and toughness - a rare blend.

Freo will be a big test for him though. One of the best forward pressure teams raring to go plus he'll likely have a half decent opponent to defend against. But if he gets the defensive support and midfield options then he should excite. First game as a defender at AFL level though so I'm just cooling expectations a bit.

Harmes (and also someone like Aidan Riley) are in a pretty heavy logjam of inside midfield/half forward types. Without Watts and Vince the numbers of outside running types are pretty low. Maybe Lumumba, Toumpas and Matt Jones as wing types. I think there's enough difference in the roles to justify the selection, not to mention that Stretch has looked very good.

yeh good point, those injuries are really highlighting our weaknesses. guys like toumpas might be able to play a role like that, good oppertunity for other to stand up. petty howe is out.

Let us hope that Toumpas becomes another one!

The Toump looked tidy today with everything he did but to be honest I'm surprised, if not a little disappointed, that he's still a bit of a runt amongst the group.

If he can lay a tackle and shake a loose ball to our advantage I'll be super impressed. The whole inside / outside argument is becoming invalid nowadays. Mids need to have both facets to their games and the build to accompany them.

McQ did you notice Toumpas' set shots how he waves the ball around during the run up, didn't look very orthodox.

I didn't take notice of that mate. If he slots them then who cares. Hogan looks pretty awkward as well..

Mountain View Hotel, Bridge Road Richmond is where I will be tonight, enjoying a counter as I watch us whip the Dockers!

Food sucks there, in my opinion. Although i love the rooftop.

I am intrigued tonight more so to see the game time that we get into players legs, hopefully we will see less skill errors but seeing as it is the first round of the NAB cup and it has been pretty clear in all the earlier rounds it will be a scrappy affair, which suggests Fremantle could well lock it in their forward half.

Is that a good place CBDees? How's the food?

I'm back visiting from the USA & not familiar with Melbourne sports bars etc.. Recommendations from anyone most appreciated.

Was thinking of the Bentleigh club as it's nearby?

Thanks

I expected a touch better at the line.. +18.5 at $1.90.

Nevertheless I've dropped a $150 on us for good measure.

I am reasonably confident we get within 3 goals with Fyfe, Sandilands out and a Roos vs Lyon game of defensive tactics.

These coaches won't let the shackles off just because it is NAB cup, they are both men of structures, discipline and defense.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
