Thank you TDI for the reply as I look forward to your take on the training days and the chats to players. I think many on this site hang out for your training day notes, for a lot of people, away from Melbourne this keeps them in touch with the club and its playing staff.

I would like to meet you tomorrow just to exchange views. I am the grey haired old bugger near the race.

Who said people wont be at Cranbourne at 2 ? I will. For too long a lot of MFC supporters act like little gods deeming nobody lives more than 10 kms from the GPO. That's one of the reasons our supporter base is so low and one of the oldest in age.

We seem to look down on people who live out here, I live in Pakenham and cant make training at Goshs paddock, but I enjoy the reports put on this site from Dees supporters. But hold training or match practice out here and the noses rise a bit higher. Come out breathe the air , we are people and Dees supporters out here too.

I'm sorry but Casey fields isn't just not close to the city it shouldn't even be classified as in Melbourne. It's passed Cranbourne which is a country town, same as Pakenham. Governments in their wisdom/hunger for cash have decided to allow Melbourne to sprawl so far as to stretch out there (and further) but it's still miles away.

It's our regional base and if we chose to use the facility then I'm fine with that. I'm glad you and others will be there. It should be marketed as an intraclub for our regional supporters and those in the middle to outer Eastern suburbs. Plenty of open trainings at Gosch's and the NAB challenge (one in Melbourne, one in Ballarat) then real games to come for the majority of our city supporters.

I enjoy the NAB challenge games at Casey (besides us always getting flogged) and without one this year I'm glad we are taking the intraclub out there as long as there's a realisation that it's probably not catering to the maximum attendance it could get at a closer venue. I guess I'm pretty much agreeing with what you say in that you're valid dees supporters and it's good for us to get out there.

From 4 PM tomorrow I will have fingers and legs crossed, hoping for the best, no injuries and that we finally have a win!

I have no problem with the location, but the time is absurd. I already miss most of our games during the season because I work Sundays. It pisses me off that they keep doing this with the practice matches as well. As a paid up member (twice over since I bought my Dad's membership too), I think I have a right to expect that the club would make at least a minimal effort to put these sort of events at a time when I and the majority of other members have half a chance of attending. It just makes so much more sense to do this on a Saturday afternoon. 3pm on a Thursday not even the schoolkids can got there. It's idiotic.

I remember last preseason Jimmy Toumpas kicked 4 goals in an intraclub game and everyone was so excited

Looking forward to the reports, but must remember that form in an intra club game means little

After several years of injuries to players during the pre-season the club thought this may help. Unfortunately a few players experienced bad punctures and will be out 4-2-6 weeks.

My sincere thanks to those who make the journey and report in advance.

To those who will later dissolve the thread into bickering about who is the least clever, in advance also, I hate you.

The thing about Toumpy kicking 4 in the intra club last year is that he kicked 3 of them on Maia Westrupp, who was nowhere near AFL standard. I reckon this actually worked against him in the end, cos he was then played as a forward pocket early in the season due to so many injuries we had and barely saw the ball for the first 5 rounds, with no key forwards to feed off. By this time he was out of form and his confidence shot, leading to a long stint in the VFL. I really hope thy play him on the ball or half back flank this year.

As well as a like button should we have a dislike button? And if you get too many dislikes you are sin binned for a period, a form of peer review system.

Funny, ManDee, I was thinking exactly the same thing a few days back, when yet another thread crashed & burned...!

Sounds like 10 Casey players have been seconded to play in this game which suggests that we're resting/rehabbing a fair number of players at the moment.

or preparing for the Essendon match????

Intraclub matches are perfect for Melbourne supporters with MFCSS.

If the forwards dominate we can safely assume that the backline is not up to AFL standard.

If the backline dominate we can safely assume that the forwards are going be a weakness.

It’s a perfect Lose-Lose situation.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
