Mark Neeld and Neil Craig glad to be back together at Essendon

In a development role no less!

A few quotes from the Age today ah pretty much tell it like it is and in case you haven't read it.

"Craig spoke glowingly of the 43 yr old Neeld who worked as a talent manager at AFL Victoria during 2014, saying he was a strong fit for the development position in which he works with about 15 young bombers"

(Gee development position eh, he certainly was able to develop our players successfully enough eh?)

"The opportunity to come here for the right reasons," ( I wonder what reasons they might be?)

Then this one " Neeld praised Essendon as an organisation, emphasising that the club wanted for nothing"

(Yep, a place which needs nothing and full of integrity, I would think!)

And of course " Its a good footy club, really well resourced"

( Of course in fact a really good footy club, yesiree!)

Hnmmm

Man I got a laugh out of this!! It's cause the club is a time bomb & they can't land anyone decent.... I betcha! And then they are happy to let Craig do all the talking about the appointment, taking responsibility for it basically & sounding like a PR man about what a great club it is. Reeks of desperation getting others in to speak for the club to distance themselves from the drug scandal..... I'm loving it!

This is an article designed to fill papers during the offseason. Journos do it to fill up newspapers when they have nothing else to write about. Clubs let them do it to promote their clubs during a quiet period.
I like to think Daniel Cherny decided to take the pizz and wrote the article to get the usual villains of Demonland in an apoplectic rage that Mark Neeld and Neil Craig continue to work within the football industry. After all, shouldn't their careers have ended as soon as they left Melbourne? How dare their lives continue on as normal!!!

Jokes aside, Neeld will be the least of their worries. He was highly regarded as the midfield coach of a premiership team. Just because he didn't cut it as a senior coach doesn't mean he can't perform other coaching roles.

everyone has the perception that all the fault was from Neeld.... & not from our own players & the past culture, which he inherited.

it wasn't Neelds fault we haven't been able to develop our kids over the past 15 +/- years, & that our senior players mostly were selfish one way players... & now Roosy battles with this culture trying to rid it from our club. but he does have the respect of his charges.

I was excited when we got Craig and believe he did a good job in difficult circumstances. Neeld was either promoted beyond his ability or specified a task that was not achievable.

Until his appointment as senior coach at MFC he was a winner yet here he was a nightmare.

EFC have to be extraordinarily careful in their appointments at this stage and would have given careful consideration.

We seem to be delighted to have picked up a sacked coach from the Doggies but in a different role.

Mmmmm, from the melting pot into the fire.

You would have to be effing desperate to be tied up with Messendrugs.

Neelds payout must have run out.

This may bring the twitch back, or is there a drug that can fix it.?

Mark Neeld was a poor head coach, but by all reports a great assistant / midfield coach. I think the same could be said with Brendan Mccartney. I feel both of them have strong attributes that lie respectively other than being a head coach of a football team.

Let's hope no Demonlanders have any afflictions...

This is not an afflication as such. It happened post surgery and he hadn't had the time to get it fixed.

Demonlanders have worse afflictions. Read all the posts and you will understand.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
