Riiiiiight.... Trading peak age players for draft picks.. Have you even met our coach?

I answered SS's question which was how on earth do we turn just picks 3 and 23 in to TWO A grade players without touching pick 2. The deals that up the pick are only part to get to the end game.

And the only way to do it would be to secure one A grader with pick 3 then continually upgrade pick 23 using a series of valuable commodities to get to another top 5 or top 10 pick that can secure the second A grader.

Trading high first round pick players who have underachieved has been part of Sydney's trade workings for a long time - Pat Vespremi, Lewis Johnstone, Jed Lamb etc.

As I said in my original post I don't see it happening. I think more likely to get 2 A graders (which I still feel is incredibly unlikely) we trade 2, 3 and even 23 and we then figure out a way maybe using a player like Trengove in all of those swaps to get back to a first round pick.

This is the biggest week for the MFC since the 2000 GF. I have been muted so no names will be mentioned, but if all goes to plan we will end up with 2 A Graders plus pick 2. The 2 players would enter our list as the 2 best players on our list. Roos may need to settle for a less experienced likely A Grader (a Tyson like) but this is not plan A. Don't be surprised if at least 1 of the players gained has been unmentioned on DL or the media. We are the main player in a massive game of chess. Roos is already a legend, on Thursday evening he may have become a God. A Demon God no less.

We'll never know the full story, but I'd say he was completely on the mark with Clark.

No-one inside or outside the club knew that after getting back to full health Clark would turn around and do what he's done.

Some here didnt really believe he was sick at all!! Me included.

The notion that any club would allow information to be leaked onto a fan forum or that recruiting people would read what's put on here or take any notice of it is fanciful. At best, some people in the media might consult us on a quiet news day :).

That doesn't stop people from making educated guesses based on secondary information and coming up with some interesting conclusions, even if they're probably lacking in accuracy. Late last week, I received information suggesting that the Sydney Swans had some salary cap "issues". Shorty thereafter came the news (official) that the AFL has prevented the Swans from trading players in because of the phasing out of the COLA. If you put two and two together then you might conclude that they might be anxious to offload a high priced player to enable compliance with the TPP regime and next thing you know, people are posting that we're after specific players from that very same club.

Sounds feasible but it's more likely a long shot and way off the mark.

Sorry to disillusion some of you but in this Bizarroworld of trade week, two and two doesn't necessarily add up to four.

Sounds awesome if true!

Still curious as to how we get that done, while still retaining pick #2 (or a slight downgrade on pick #2)

My F5 key is going to get a hammering this week!

We won't be keeping pick two if we somehow pulled off the greatest trade in the history of the cosmos. Danger and Treloar will cost both 2&3 plus lots more.

Anyone got any more detail on what was specifically said on SEN and who was saying it?

It was Jay Clark and he said something along the lines of 'there is still a bit of talk about Melbourne targeting players like Dangerfield, Shiel and Treloar'. Nothing concrete.

He mentioned that picks 2, 3 and 12 would give MFC the opportunity to put a wonderful package together for one of those players.

Andy Maher's final question was 'is there anything else coming from left field over the next few days?' and Clark's response was that he wouldn't be surprised to hear Toumpas and Watts' names come up.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe
