Goodwin's Law?

Wow just wow..

Up there with Hogan Heros as one of the worst post/posters going around.

He was bang on about Neeld from the get-go. Must be trying his luck again.... Pity he's not taking into consideration the vastly different selection process and criteria.

Bang on about most things, including Clarke being a cat.

Please tell me you are still going to run for the board... It would make my year. I will even act as your campaign manager if you promise me that you will include ENYAW and Saty on your ticket to be henceforth known as the 'Villains of Demonland'.

It is obvious that Kirk will be the successor. For the record, I picked Kirk as the man as soon as Roos was elected.

However, I am starting to think our rise will happen rather quickly, and as soon as Roos gets a sniff of a finals campaign, he will find it hard to pass the team over to Kirk.

My paternal Grandfather was born and bred in Gawler, South Australia. Not particularly sporty but such a decent man that he did a runner from Broken Hill in 1913 because his landlady was making inappropriate advances. He finally met his match in Cooktown during WW1 in the form of my Irish Catholic (daughter of Hoteliers and Teamsters) Grandmother. Can't say his English Protestant(Congregationalist) Freemason Father was impressed by his choice and by his conversion to the Church of Rome.

I think after reading Bernie Vince's comments regarding Goodwin's leadership in training at Adelaide I feel a lot more confident in this decision.

The past 2 coaches haven't been elite players in there playing days.

Goodwin knows what it takes to be the best and will show our players what to do to get there.

I find it bizarre that anyone could puff their chest about "being right" when deriding someone from the very beginning, when that view is based on so little evidence.

It doesn't make you a guru. It makes you someone who enjoys being critical for the sake of being critical, or perhaps places a high value on bragging rights flowing on from your premature potshots.

The most dissapointing appointment since Andy Goodwin and that's saying something

Goodnight MFC

Care to elaborate?

Exactly. It's like executing someone for suspected murder without trial and then feeling vindicated when they're found guilty.

Witch hunt mentality. It's disgusting.

ENYAW isn't a villain.

Swap ENYAW with hh, add Louis Cypher, and you've got the dream team.

I can understand the apprehension when it comes to Goodwin - I can relate.

But "goodnight MFC" and "we deserve to go broke" (whatever that means) are just nonsense reactions to a coaching decision.

The MFC survived Neeld and all that he entailed. We have survived worse than the last 8 years, and we have survived the last 8 years too...

Nothing is black and white.

He may not bring us a flag but I doubt Roos will let him be a failure...

He has the respect of those who know a bit about footy and seems to value the right things - culture, relationships, etc - he deserves patience and faith because he is going to get those two things whether you like it or not and when it comes to assistants - who the bloody hell knows whether they good until they prove it in the job?

Roos put his name to this, while nervous I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. Must say I would have preferred his first choice though.

I am actual considering my continued support for the MFC as a result of this appointment and not sure that I will renew my membership in 2015.

It hard to believe the MFC would have recruited any coaching staff from the most immoral club in the AFL.

Can not stand drug cheats and refuse to be associated with them.

@DemonFrog

Do you actually think you know enough facts about the Essendon ASADA issue to categorically rule Simon Goodwin a drug cheat, and then effectively remove the biggest support you can provide the football club, your membership?

I would suspect you, me, and nearly everybody else (including journo's) don't.

You also must not think much of Roos, Jackson, Bartlett and rest of board who made the appointment of said 'drug cheat'. Given they conducted the interview process, reckon they might know a bit more than you and I.

Maybe a couple of deep breaths might be in order...

Am I the only one that doesn't mind this appointment? Goodwin was a champion player, club captain, won premierships, All Australian (x5), B&Fs. He's gained experience under one of the greatest coaches of the modern era (Thompson), and will have a further two seasons with another of the greats (Roos) before taking the reins.

Yes, he was involved with Essendon during the ASADA scandal, but he wasn't the orchestrator of the program and he is widely regarded as a stabilizing influence that helped the club perform well despite the constant media attention and speculation. Roos & Co have said that he was very honest with them about his role in the scandal, and I have faith that they know what they're doing and wouldn't appoint him if he was an immoral person.

I'm glad that we have a successor in place, and I think that Goodwin seems like a strong appointment.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
