Can't believe Watts is getting votes. He was as infuriating as ever.

He was better today than he has been in a long time. Plenty of ball, did some damage with it, took players on with his pace and I think he even tried to put a block on at one point. Of course, he was also [censored]-poor whenever someone put a hand on him, but it was still an improvement.

Don't agree. I have been on the anti-Watts bandwagon for years but I thought his game tonight was the best I've seen him play (at least until 3/4 time). I actually saw some endeavour, chase, tackling and something that resembled urgency at times. Yes once or twice he reverted to type but nowhere near as often or as bad as usual. And his use of the ball and decision making was by far superior to any one else on the field - and boy, don't we need that! I didn't know whether to be happy (turned the corner) or sad because it was an aberration and so he won't be considered for trading. I so hope it's the former, but I fear not. Anyway:

6.Tyson - he has only just begun, going to be a very very good player when he hits the 50-70 game range

5.TMac - good game and good to see him kick 2 goals, I have a lot of faith in this kid

4.Vince - been a good pick up and continued his good form tonight

3.Kent - showed what he is capable of, if he can develop a tank look out

2.Cross - I love him and the way he goes about it, can play another 2 years he is that professional in his approach

1.Watts - again some bad point with keeping his feet and one on ones but used it well and took the game on a bit

Michie and Nate Jones are unlucky to miss out on votes

The fall off in the number of posts in post match threads compared to a few years ago correlates with our game day attendances and is indicative of the extreme apathy gripping supporters 8 years in to a catastrophic era for the MFC.

I wish we could sue Schwab and Connolly. Seriously

6 - Vince ( a class ahead of anyone else in our team this game)

5 - Tyson ( intelligent footballer who amassed heaps of possessions , but infuriatingly seems to encounter mental blocks)

4 - McDonald ( hates to lose , has passion, but needs to master his foot skills)

3 - Kent ( a break out game too late to build momentum on )

2 - N.Jones ( workhorse, who was prolific but not a standout )

1 - Cross ( sad we have to play him, but age hasn't wearied)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
