GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Just don't go reaching for the pitchforks until we hear something definite from Mitch or the club. The big guy gave us his all until his body broke down and deserves some respect. Also we've got good people running the show now who aren't going let us get dudded in all this.

I agree, but I think the club needs to be proactive and very clear straight away in the best interest of supporters and members.

The AFL's own exceptional circumstances for a PP are surely being met. Unable to secure a proper trade, at least an end of first round pp would be due

when is the final decision for the pp

I'd be very surprised if he went to another club. There are no quotes that say his comeback won't be with Melbourne, just that he's in good shape and likely to attempt a comeback.

My guess is that Barrett is trying to drum up interest in the story by saying it won't be with Melbourne. He may be proven right of course, but it wouldn't make much sense at all.

Can't help but think we should've kept him on the books for 2015 as well until after trade period as part of his retirement settlement.

Maybe that's what an experienced footy manager would do and Josh Mahoney wouldn't.

Agree we have to hear from Mitch and the MFC. The sooner the better.

Damian Barrett teaming up with player manager Colin Young makes this all the worse.

Good to see its not just MFC fans who think its absolute bulldust if he plays for another team...

Trade with Freo seems likely to me but Freo wont want to give up anything for him. They've already signed free agents in Sylvia and Pearce (subbed out yesterday) and traded a late pick for the failed Gumby experiment. Don't expect anything better than a 3rd round pick I'd say.

Of course the option is we don't trade, put him in the PSD and pick him (presuming St Kilda stay away). But clubs haven't gone down this route before yet alone with a guy coming back from retirement due to mental health issues.

Trade him to Freo if he wants to return and WA is appealing for his mindset. He'd be awesome for them. In return we could get one of their decent tough young players like Neale, or Spurr and maybe a Silvangi. We could get Sylivia back so Casey have a mature mid!

Love to see him fit and healthy in a Dees jumper again, but equally understand Roosy thinking time to move on and develop another tall forward line.

Freo would have to give up something decent to get him otherwise we let him go to the PSD and off to St Kilda or GWS.

Neale it would have to be as a minimum.

I am preparing for yet another kick in the guts, why should this season be any different to the last 7 or 8?

If he's on our list now he can't just walk to another club (if he wants to go to another club) He'd have to be traded to his club of choice or he takes his chances in the draft or the pre-season draft.

Unless ... he qualifies as a delisted free agent once we no longer have a hold on him and I'm not sure that he does qualify as a delisted free agent. I believe he would only be an out of contract player.

We may not necessarily want him but he is technically still our player (by all accounts)

It's a tricky one because "we've heard" that his contract has been paid out for this year (a settlement was supposedly reached) and that the last year of his contract (next year) was rendered null and void.

Let's hope that if he's able to continue his footy career, it's with us.

Retirements don't qualify under FA rules.

It wont be.

Sadly I can put a 43 before your 7 or 8.

Melbourne set to get screwed again!

If he ends up at another club, will he be booed by our meagre remaining supporter base?

It would be totally justified if he was in any colours other than our red and blue.

Booed, I'll run him over!

Joking, relax!

I wouldn't dint my car!

I'm all for Him getting his health issues in order.... But it's a kick in the guts for the MFC who gave up a pick to get him over & supported him during his tough times.... I think he needs to repay some faith to the MFC...

Compensation from the AFL is in order if this happens!

Where is all the info on him wanting a fresh start at another club coming from?

Do you think Roos' comments in his bnf speech may have also had something to do with Clark, as well as Frawley?

Something along the lines of "if you're not it together, then you know where you can go".

I feel crook in the guts about this...again

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’
