get ready for a month a demonland rumour and speculation. YAY!!!

This is my first season as a Demonlander, don't know what to expect.

Some crazy "my mates best friends cousins uncle knows him so it's true..." is my guess.

Completely untrue old chap.D/L will be full of concise honesty and knowledge of mitchyboys life and contract details.

The football director of the club shall post them in a special thread on a weekly/daily basis

Stevens just said Mitch is in training and his manager said he'd make a decision on a comeback in a month

Fantastic news if Mitch thinks he might be (even) a slim possibility to play again ........... and it's bloody good for my morale as well! I desperately need a tonic to get me through to the trade period!

Edit: add word.

When PR said he was the best player on our list,I didnt think PR would let him walk without exhausting all avenues to make sure we were still in the deal.Win Win for us and for mitchy boy if he is well now.

After suffering severe{is there any other kind}of depression of recent,i can tell you the good days do appear sooner than what you imagine and life starts to get better quickly{or as normal as can be}occasional setbacks, but yes mitch may see some light .Memory reminds you of the darkness and mitch will make a decision when hes ready. But it does sound good for all of us.

The other side to this is that if Mitch announces a comeback before list lodgement time, any potential suitor apart from us, would need to trade with us.

I'm sure not only Roos but the rest of the FD worked out a number of possible outcomes of which Mitch would also be fully aware of.

Yeh thats more or less how it plays out, the frawley situation, clark situation and trade then draft time will provide us with some good reads lol.

there are a couple of posters that often do post up solid info and most posters tend to respect their info.

I think its whispering jack that usually bobs up come trade time.

then theres heaps of people posting second hand info they have been 'told'.

To be honest, I enjoy it.

It gives me something to be excited about, it really is like sifting through [censored], but it can be interesting.

Hypothetical here - If clarky can make a comeback with us (praying to all the gods - new and old), then we don't necessarily have to try to trade in a developed forward, we could use a pick on a kid like mccartin and develop him to work with jesse in the future. we could use dawes, clark, hoges, fitzy and pederson for the time being.

That would allow us to snare some awesome mids and not have to worry about forwards so much.

Ive heard Mitch IS talking to other clubs. Not us. he wont be at MFC next year if he plays.

no its not, but it'd be nice if more things went the way we'd like them.
Very few pleasant surprises.

Although our drafting and trading recently has been nice.

the clubs situation probably didn't help mitchs head space, so perhaps coming back wouldn't do him any good anyway.

GrandNewFlag says if Mitch comes back it will only be with the MFC

and Grandnewflag is never wrong

Exactly. I'll take his word over some source who is probably dribbling information.

What are you, high? Of course he is worth that. He is a proven A-grade KPF, there are about 10 players in the whole comp that can make that claim - in fact, at the time of his injury he was ranked 7th in the comp for goals-per-game

Perhaps you would rather use the pick on another Jordan Gysberts? FMD

Not sure if you're serious? You think that a 27 year old that's been out of the game for almost 3 seasons, who couldn't even train without doing a hammy or a calf, and is battling mental health issues is worth a top 10 pick?

When he was 24 and fit and healthy he was worth pick 12 but you think his value is the same?

You think that a club is going to give up the opportunity to bring in the 10th or 15th best 18 year old in the country just to try and get 40 games out of Mitch Clark before he retires?

Wow.

Wow.

I will take 40 games from Mitch Clark if he is firing.

Power forwards are just that.

We don't have 3-4 years to wait.

I think the likely scenario in the case of a clark return, would include both being able to select a forward from the draft as well as clark returning if we wanted. Doubt clarks return (hypothetical) would cost us anything.

He does carry some currency, but it would def be based on a fitness assessment.

Freo is desperate to land a forward, they took a risk on gumbleton, I guy that had played 20 odd games in 7 years or something ridiculous. Id be taking mitch before gumbelton everyday of the week.

Yep.

Leading goalkicker was C.Dawes with 17 FFS

Had we had Clark he might have kicked 60 and we probably would have won 6 more matches

Sneaky 30 or 40 from Hogan wouldn't have hurt either

I haven't heard that Mitch and Chip have made a pact to go to the same club. You didn't hear it first here. My lips are seals*.

"Clark will remain on the Demons' list for 2014 before being delisted at the end of the year" - http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-04-08/demon-clark-retires

If it is true that there is a slight chance of him wanting to play football anywhere we MUST keep him on our list.

If he chooses to play on with Melbourne, fantastic. If he chooses to leave, he can be traded for whatever we can salvage. If he publically announces that he is retired for good, only THEN should we delist him.

If we delist him on the 31st of October (as we are expected to) and he then decides to play on elsewhere we not gain any compensation for him.

Mal Michael retired from Brisbane at the end of the 2006 season, only to change his mind a month later and be picked up by Essendon in the Pre-Season draft.

I don't believe Brisbane received anything and Essendon got another couple of years out of Michael.

I'm pretty sure the laws were changed after this debacle to ensure it can't happen again?

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
