They've put us in graveyard time slot for the game v Hawrhorn.

Hope that's not an omen.

Anyone going?

will be in Paynes6...so alas no.

Go Dees

We'll need to play our absolute best footy to keep it respectable. The stop start style of moving the ball with players doing statue impersonations all over the ground isn't going to cut it today. Need to show some sort of evidence that players are doing some offensive drills at training.

All that said, slowing the game down is probably our only hope of keeping the margin to under 10 goals...

I entered this post wanting to be positive. Honest.

My nonchalant optimism of earlier in the week has waned and been replaced by absolute dread. Please dear lord, be kind to us today.

praying to god for the wellbeing of Demons. Lateral if nothing else :)

At least I am getting out of the house, couldn't do much worse than we did against Brissy (could we?).

We may not be able to play worse, but if we play even closely to that badly the result will be a lot worse.

Going with a hawthorn mate. What I really don't want to see is us being physically intimidated. The hawks and cats have done this to us for years and essendon went a long way to winning that grand final with the same approach (more blatant thuggery, actually). I never want to see a Melbourne player smashed like Pedo was without 17 men running to fly the flag.

The good lady has a birthday today.

No I won't be going lunch at Kyneton.

Any margin under 40 points wouldn't be embarrassing.

My partners birthday was this week and she's a Hawthorne supporter, we were going to make the trip and stay in Melbourne, her die hard Hawthorne brother was also going to come, luckily for me she is suffering from concussion and I won't have to sit through this game with her brother yelling "go hawks" in my face. I do wish her a speedy recovery though.

Pretty pi55 weak from a lot of supporters this week unfortunately. We had a disappointing loss last week (despite leading by 3 goals early in the last quarter), the game before we were a bees [censored] away from beating Port at the Adelaide Oval, and on a few occasions this year we have put in brave performances against highly regarded opposition. Of course there has been the Freo, Geelong and West Coast losses which have been bad (still not the 100 point plus pantsings of years gone by). Not saying we definitely wont suffer badly today but I am going in a lot more hopeful and optimistic than most other 'supporters' on here. I am predicting a 30 point loss, not the 15 goal spanking many others are predicting.

Even with last weeks performance I don't feel as though we are a side who will easily roll over anymore, although it was only a month ago where the Cats and Freo beat us very, very easily, so outside of the Port game we aren't exactly in terrific form.

All I want is for the players this week to have a real crack and make Hawthorn earn it for 4 quarters. I'm not exactly optimistic we can do that but it's the best I can hope for really.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
