Great vote of confidence that Salem keeps his spot when he under-performed and was subbed out last week.

Starting to see how this Roos thing works ...

Not sure about that. I fully expect Salem to be the sub. Just that with 3 best 22 already out and not much coming in from Casey it made more sense to keep Salem in his great role as the sub. If JKH/Blease/Michie perform well at Casey it might be then that Salem goes back to Casey.

The inclusions of Terlich, Nicholson and Barry are a clear indicator that Roos was annoyed with the lack of run and work rate last week and that's still his main priority not skills. In fact at times last week he would've accepted worse skills if it meant more structured and disciplined play and getting the game back to our style.

Anyway I'm hoping Frawley gives us some run from the backline. Gawn provides his energy up forward and that Nicholson and Barry can do the job defensively and we can find enough skill to do something in attack.

So they have lost Griffin, Cooney, Gia, Roughead, Liam Jones

if we lose this game it will be a disgrace

Will you leave demonland if we lose?

We lost our last game against the Dogs, and all those players were playing. It was a disgrace then too.

I wouldn't be so sure - 3 of the 4 changes are forced, and i doubt any of them would have been dropped on merit if they were available for selection.

That's not to say Roos wasn't annoyed with the run and work-rate, I just don't think he's making a statement at the selection table.

I see an ad on the AFL website ' why the umpires will be wearing blue this weekend'. Is it because it's traditional for them to wear 'clash' garb in Melbourne V Bulldogs games?

OMG - I presume that we will have to wear our white crap, but the Dogs will be in their traditional predominantly blue.

What genius at AFLHQ dreams up this rubbish?

I always love a player debut, so good luck to Dom Barry. His tagging work has been strong and he is quick.

That is a very interesting team the Dees have put out there. I am unsure whether I think it will work against the Doggies, or whether it will expose our shallow list and soft underbelly.

Nicholson is very hard at the ball and runs all day but is the another member of the "I kick like Ben Holland" club. With him and Terlich in the team I suspect our turnovers will be horrible. and if the Doggies do 1 thing well - it is score from turnovers. A bit worried about this to be honest.

Once again, can we score enough goals?

They are wearing blue tonight. I think its for a cause.

Jack Viney says G'Day

Say hello back for me.

Stand by my statement.

Saw a NM player pull out of a contest in the first quarter last week because of Riley's kamikaze, head first attack on the ball.

Didn't help him get a gig this week though I suppose. :(

It's not that he's dropping blokes, it's that he's picking Barry and Nicholson over the likes of Blease and Michie.

Nicholson's match reviews have been that he's still making kicking and decision making errors. Barry's have been that he's only getting 10 touches. But as they've done the defensive job they get picked over Michie and Blease who are getting the 25-30 touches and doing more with them than the other two I named.

Dogs side is actually not bad..

Really like the 3 ins of Hunter, Honeychurch and Darley. They are more impressive midfield ins that our ones Although they will miss Griffen as the top line mid. Roughead's a loss but the game shouldn't be won or lost on the back of an average full back.

The teams reflect that the dogs are a bit ahead of us in the list rebuild when it comes to the midfield. Hopefully our talls can make a difference.

I really want to win this game. We are a better side than the bulldogs and last time we played was super fustrating we lost. A win tomorrow an we wil jump to 12th on the ladder only a game behind Adelaide & west coast..A loss and we can drop to 16th with results going the way they should. Big game for us!

STOP TOM LIBERATORE and we may win this one

Dont know who is next in line to get tom?cross/jordie.

My only concern is the midfield squeeze might be getting tired after a big 9 months with PR.

Also need a defensive forward on Murphy - he sets up a lot of their plays.

Bail will get that job IMO

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
