Frawley going to Hawthorn is vomit in my mouth stuff.

As if the Hawks don't own us enough, they can just pluck Frawley with zero cost in terms of trade.

How on earth do the AFL organise working groups around equalisation whilst they allow top end talent to move each year to clubs up the top of the ladder?

I could see this problem from day one.

So we meet Hawthorn in 2015, yet another year where we no we have zero chance of winning. just zero.

so so deflating.

Its now just an ARMS RACE between Hawthorn and Sydney and the rest can help develop their players of tomorrow.

how to stuff up a great game.

I believe Geelong feel totally shafted believing associations would get him over the line. That was the basis of my info!

Don't give a stuff sticking my neck out. I had a dip with what I know was excellent but flawed info. So I really don't care what others on forum think of me nor do the barbs coming my way affect me. If those like Dazzle Davey get a jolly out of it, must be a insecure life!

Still happy to provide info that I hear.

I'll say it again Geelong are most definitely the most peeved in all of this! Definitely so !

i think the most important aspect was that Roosy wanted to set ip the backline without Frawley in it, rather than rely on him.

The backline was ok and will get better. Frawley has not left a big hole.

never subscribed to the theory that he wanted to set up the backline without Frawley. He went back there early in the season when there was no Hogan, Dawes, Clark and he didnt have Garland available and Howe was struggling forward. He basically had little other alternatives. I think the idea of setting up without Frawley is just too convenient.

The backline will be ok and hopefully get better because there is no alternative - Frawley is gone.

As to him not leaving a big hole - he had an average year at best. He has shown he can play in 2010 and done little else since. We are willing to suggest that players will improve under Roos but obviously we don't give the same leeway to Frawley.

We have good backmen but can always use more .

He is gone - we move on and hate the next player who puts his contract on hold until the end of the season.

Good, I'm glad they are peeved. I'm in no doubt Hawthorn had Frawley this time last year, and Geelong thought they'd just come in and get him during this season.

As I said earlier, eat shlt kitties.

Heart bleeds for the Cats....how on earth will they go on.

So lets summarize, the big four names leaving their clubs in the last 2 years have gone where; Buddy and Tippet-Swans, MC- Cats, Chip- Hawks. The premiers of the last 4 years.

Yes working a treat.

Diddums for Geelong! They got the guy who shafted us (Clark) and get shafted by the guy they thought they had (Frawley).

No cream for the 'cheshire' cats here! Just karma!

Just to be clear on how much "no doubt" you have that he met Hawks last year - are you in the same "no doubt" as the other posters who had no doubt he was going to Geelong ?

This is actually where the much maligned "secret formula" and discretionary panel both work in our favour.

Frawley may not be worth pick 3 according to their formula.

But we're damn well going to get it.

Change the rules on Free Agency before it destroys our competition. Public interest will diminish if half the teams never have a chance to win a flag, this will result in lower attendances and inevitably lower broadcast rights. What is currently happening breaks my heart.

Absolutely. We will be sweating on Frawley compo big time. Makes hard to justify a first round compo if he's gone to the Hawks. You need around 650-800K a year to get a band 1 compo.

Is that in writing anywhere? I have only see 'the size of the contract will be a factor blah blah' but not an actual dollar amount....

Agree.

If the AFL think that fixturing games at 7:40 pm on a Sunday night or other such strange time slots are the sole reason for dwindling crowds, then they're delusional. There are plenty of other factors in play that have resulted in fan dissatisfaction - free agency being one of them.

Us passionate Demonlanders will still attend because we are suckers for punishment but many others won't (and I don't really blame them either).

Heard Bucks on SEN this morning, his take on FA. It was not designed as an equalisation tool it was designed as a tool to allow players to move easily between clubs mainly players on the fringes. The salary cap and club spend caps are the equalisation measures.

It was sold as older players getting a chance to move or last shot at a game. Exactly like Cross did last year.

It is clearly working differently. The rich get richer, the poor get the picture.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
