The Jack Viney bump that never was!

Ok , so now you are not allowed to go after the ball just in case somebody gets injured.

He's still with us.

A Melbourne player.

He's a brilliant player who will learn to be harder at the ball and avoid collisions.

Your posts on this have been a disgrace.

Ignore list.

D'Land is in meltdown.

The boy is still with us. It's two weeks....not a lifetime.

There's a player with a wired up jaw tonight.

The head is sacrosanct.

Oh spare me.

I've said from the start Viney would go for it, but that doesn't mean it isn't a completely [censored] ridiculous decision.

This essentially means now that no player can ever commit to a contest for fear of incidental and accidental collisions. That's very sad for football.

This decision hopefully will galvanise supporters into coming Saturday night. A few banners supporting Jack would be nice.

They will make you take them down, they are not interested in what the fan in the outer has to say.

The AFL has now declared that players must pull out of a contest rather than risk contact that may hurt someone. Now officially the Australian Basketball League and you are encouraged to shirk a contest. This strikes at the very heart of our game. RIP Aussie rules

Yes...by pirouetting out of contest at the last split half second..

I said this afternoon that I fear for Jack Viney because of his attack on the contest. they are sending a clear message - do not attack a contest unless you are 100% sure you will get there first or not cause harm.

the rationale of this verdict is that " someone head got hurt so someone must pay".

I think we need to take another angle on this issue. I think that this is actually proof that the AFL is right in their obsessive protection of the head. Here we have three former players who have demonstrated their complete and utter lack of basic reasoning skills. I say bravo the AFL for picking up on the issue and taking steps to address it.

BT just standing up for us on 3AW, says it is an absolute joke. Healy disagreeing with him.

Dwayne Russel saying we are "sooking it up" as Roosy has canceled his interview with them. Healy (surprisingly) saying it is most likely because he is going straight to appeal, Russel is calling the MFC "sooks" as a reply to Healy.

Dwayne; says it all doesn't it.

What amazingly stupid comments. It was less than 1 second between the ball being 5 meters away from each player (and still bouncing meaning to could go any direction and at any pace) to the collision. He did not ELECT to bump. He didn't even bump. He collided with another player while chasing a bouncing oval shaped ball.

Crawl back into a very, very deep hole ffs.

I would like to ask all supporters to not listen to Russell and healy's show and let's hope their rating drop and they get the arse for being fllogs they both are.

I don't anyway but I will be writing to Fox and letting them know I don't want him commentating any of our games.

Way ahead of you there. I didn't even know they had a show.

I'm ropeable about this decision. I love the way Viney plays the game. He has qualities we've been crying out for for years. Will be a long term star for us no doubt. What will soon be obvious are the double standards the Amateur Football League will apply when a player from a more prominent club gets cited for a similar offence. Dont hope for consistency from these dogs except the constant that we will be screwed over every time.

RIP Australian Rules Football

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
