I watched Toiges v GWS and watched Plowman closely.

Admittedly, only the third time I've seen him play but I don't see what the fuss is about.

Reminds me a little of Chris Lamb

Rather Shiel and/or a host of others

I had been hoping like hope that we can somehow snag Dylan Shiel over the summer. Watching the first half today (perhaps for the first time without rose coloured glasses) I have seen some deficiencies in his game I hadn't really noticed before. His kicking and decision making has not been good today. He also seemed to lack footy smarts if his first option is not achievable. haven't seen a lot of 2nd efforts either. I don't want to be harsh on him as it's just a half of footy but Is this just today or is this a regular thing. Anyone know his game intimately enough to provide feedback?

hopefully its a sign of his signing?

I reckon it would be difficult for some to focus if they want to leave the state, to return homer to friends & family. I reckon the hawks would be hot on his tail.

Great opportunity to grab a young star.

Watched Jordan Schroeder today for Geelongs VFL Team today. He smashed the Dolphins with 30+ possessions and at about 100% efficiency... none were wasted. 15 Clearances. Good burst of pace. Too good for VFL. He has some injuries but I see a bright future. Offer 3 years and $200,000/yr contract. This kid won the Liston last year as a 20 year old.

Bit slow and small for a clearance mid these days isn't he? Would take him for sure, but no way 3 years. We've got some good state league mids in Michie and Riley who need an opportunity. We won't necessarily get better just with more of the same of these guys unless they can play forward, wing or half back.

Thought Tomlinson was really good in the first half tonight. Worked hard and showed good skills plus wants to come home. Some stability under Roos would be the making of him.

If anyone ever suggests we target Boomer Harvey, I will find you, I will come to where you live, and I will slap you in the face.

I would have liked boomer in red & blue about 25 yrs ago. but not to be a teacher or mentor.

There was an interesting point made on MMM today. They pointed out that the major FA moves (plus Scully) were all agreed to on the quiet a year or more before the deals could be made official. While the FA pickings this year aren't great, there are some decent players up for grabs next year and we should be getting in their ear early and offering them deals on the level of Franklin, Tippett ans Scully to lure them to an underperforming club. We have more than enough room in our cap to offer top dollar to a legitimate star and as we've been shown repeatedly, the AFL will turn a blind eye to us starting negotiations well in advance with the players and their managers.

Agree. Tomlinson would be a very good get. Good skills and is footy smart.

Shiel's kicking and decision making is usually very good, and his 1% count is usually among the top 5 and his 4.5 tackles per game is reasonable for a midfielder. Haven't seen the Richmond game, but maybe he was a little off. Was managing an injury v Geelong the week before.

I thought the same. A number of fumbles too.

Didn't have a good one 'Chaser' would put it down to an off day at the office.

well, he has some rough edges & a bit a 'tude. & IMO needs to learn to work even harder, from what i see, & I would like to see his intensity get higher, without losing the plot.

he's not worth a P-4 by himself atmo IMO, but he is worth a deal with another player for 2 picks? P-4 & P-23 ? who could be the other player?

Players i'd like Melbourne to hopefully target at the end of the year.

Patrick Dangerfield- Complete longshot and we'd have to offer our best pick for the bull himself. Also, a pretty healthy pay packet. I'd assume only possible if Frawley Leaves.

Josh Jenkins- Absolute unit. He'd fit nicely with Hogan, Dawes, JKH and Howe down there.

Matt Rosa- Quick midfielder and a free agent, he'd definitely be worth a look.

David Mckay- A free agent who we have targeted previously, i'd love to lure him to the dees. Has dash that we need off half back.

Nathan Fyfe- Same boat as Dangerfield

Dane Swan- I know for a fact that he does not exactly love Buckley. Would come for abit of money and a free agent, we should seriously do our best to lure him.

Adam Tomlinson- In all honesty he'd be my favourite target out of this whole list. I rate him almost as high as Jesse Hogan, no joke. He's an absolute jet of a footballer and would love to take him off GWS (i'm still sad about Scully)

Will Hoskin-Elliot- Same boat as Tomlinson, would love to steal him off GWS

would be great to get one or more of these players, i'd be stoked

After today - FORWARDS WHO CAN DEMAND AND GET THE BALL AND KICK IT BETWEEN 2 BIG WHITE STICKS ABOUT 7 YARDS APART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted this in another thread

Apparently Tom Mitchell is on over $500,000 a year at the Swans (source - Mark Allen, SEN). I'd say the Swans would have to off load him to pay Buddy's, Tippett's, Ried's, etc etc pay next year. Off loading Malceski would help to

My prediction is the Demons will off load a second rounder for Mitchell and Malceski. The Blues are after Mitchell too, they may beat us to the punch. If they do, the club would get Malceski for a low pick (not to dilute compensation for Frawley)

My other prediction is the Dees are going hard for Cameron at GWS. We are the front runners as we have the money to pay for him and the draft pick to get him. Cameron would also enjoy the prospect of playing next to Hogan.

As much as the club would love Frawley to stay, I'd say the club would be happy to let him go if the Cameron deal was in the bag. Probably why the club is going to the AFL wanting to know what compensation they will get for Frawley.

Roos saying he would not play Frawley if he knew he was going to another club is all smoke and mirrors. Roos will not compromise the team losing games by over 10 goals as the team needs to believe they are competitive at AFL level. Playing Frawley as a forward is purely a move to keep us competitive, yet looking at the future without him. Frawley is not a swingman!!

If the club does get Cameron, Hogan maybe seen as the swingman and be played as a backman

As I said elsewhere we need to raise the expectation on whom to recruit. If they aren't good enough to get a regular game at their present club DON"T even consider them. Proved today that the likes of Riley, Terlich who would only get a game for us are just not good enough. Add to that Blease, Mckenzie and Tapscott who shouldn't be in our best team and you can see why we are so poor. We need class, skill and elite kicks and people prepared to gut run to make space.

A little unfair on Riley OD. The kid is coming off a broken leg and is hard as nails. He is a much better Mc Kenzie type IMO. Every club needs a hard head tagging type who can win his own ball.

Kennedy, Richards and McGlynn have really struggled at Sydney.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
