So we started the preseason with Dawes, MC and Hogan in the forward line.

Now at rd 7 we have Dawes.

Hopefully an opportunity for someone to put their hand up and push their case.

I don't understand why Hogan needs to go LTI for Georgiou to be his replacement.

Doesn't Clark's retirement count for a list space given it was injury related?

Georgiou replaced Pig Dog, Jetta replaced Mitch. With Pig Dog playing, Georgiou becomes Hogan's replacement.

So theoretically once Hogan's right, Jetta gets dropped back to rookie?

Not necessarily, because after Round 11, one Rookie can be promoted regardless of injuries etc.

Hogan, who has not played this season due to a back injury, will return to Perth for a couple of weeks as he rests before resuming his active rehabilitation according to the club.

Is that a good idea to sit on a plane for 3 hours with a back injury. I get the club probably want him to get away from there and be around his family but wouldnt that make it worse.

Sound like we have heard this before in a similar format.

Hope its not ground hog day!

When did it get to the stage that we're still confident that he'll make a full recovery?

Club is [censored].

Geez, loving the optimism here!

Club does the right thing by sending him home to a familiar and safe environment to help boost the kid's morale, and we're on the club's back like a bucket of leeches.

GWS sent Patton home to Rowville while his shoulder healed. This is perfectly normal behaviour for a football club.

If the club issues a press release citing depression or any other heretofore unsuspected setback, I will officially begin the search for an exorcist for the club's demons.

There's another 17 clubs you can follow if you feel that way... the club today is light years ahead of where it was at this time last year.

Anyway we now have a (long) time frame without Hogan. Whilst that's bad at least there's no incentive to rush.

Georgiou replaced Pig Dog, Jetta replaced Mitch. With Pig Dog playing, Georgiou becomes Hogan's replacement.

Not sure if this has been addressed in other threads, but I believe now that Mitch has been officially delisted, that we can no longer upgrade a rookie to take his place (Mitch is no longer on the LTI).

We had 3 players on the LTI - Clark, Pig Dog and Trengove, and only 2 rookies elevated. Now that Pig Dog is off the LTI, and Clark is off our list, that meant we only had 1 player on the LTI, Trengove, which meant we would've had to drop either Jetta or Georgiou back to rookie status. By placing Hogan on the LTI, means that it has opened that upgrade spot up again which Georgiou was able to take.

Hope that makes sense!

If a retired player isn't equivalent to a LTI in the eyes of the AFL they need an urgent trip to the ophthalmologist. Clearly the list is then 1 short. If anything the club should be able to recruit an extra player or rookie from somewhere if they wish and can find someone suitable.

If the AFL allowed this, wouldn't clubs "Retire" players through the season(i.e. not required players) then clubs would pull players from other comps.....It would end up a dogs breakfast.....

Don't shoot the messenger Sue. From memory, Carlton had to apply for special consideration after Nick Duigan retired after the last list lodgement, this was to allow them to elevate a rookie to replace him. They were able to place Duigan on the LTI, meaning they were free to upgrade a rookie.

I'm not sure why we have made the decision that we did, but one would imagine it has a lot to do with the size of his remaining contract, and how this could impact our salary cap/list management decisions going in to 2015, especially with Frawley no doubt seeking a payrise.

Georgiou replaced Clark. Jetta replaced Trengove. No one came in for Pigdog.

Off the foxsports website:

Dom Barry (calf) test

Jesse Hogan (back) 4 weeks

Dean Kent (calf) 1 week

Viv Michie (jaw) 2 weeks

Luke Tapscott (hamstring) available

Jack Trengove (foot) season

Dean Terlich (concussion) TBC

4 weeks? Where did they get that from? That's a lot shorter than the 'indefinite' we had last week!

I wouldn't take much notice they have Michie on 2 weeks. I believe he played on the weekend

Dean Kent has not only recovered from that calf injury, he has played a game and been suspended since! Tapscott and Michie both played VFL on the weekend. Unfortunately that injury list is way outdated. Won't be seeing Hogan any time soon.

I was suprised that Viv played on the weekend. I thought they said it was a six week injury at first. I think it's been 3 weeks since he broke his jaw.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
