the thing that frustrated me about watts is he couldnt lay a tackle.

We didnt man up to often Gc just coasted with no pressure. We could hardly get it out of our defensive 50 yet Gc could. We didnt man up enough.

Gc should have put us away a lot earlier but it was frustrating to lose by 8 points when we to had chances. Yes we may have been given a goal that wasnt a goal but last week Dawes was kicking them from outside 60 today he missed 4 including one form 20 metres out. But its good he is getting games under his belt.

I noticed today spencer tapping the hitouts to the suns attacking side why? he did it int he last quarter near the boundary and ablett just ran straight onto it and kicked it into the 50.

McDonald got well beaten today so I hope he is ready or Buddy next week,

Love seeing Viney crash the packs.

But we didnt bring the same intensity as we bought last week. There wasnt enough pressure put on the suns like we did with Carlton and this was the most disappointing thing,

That clearance killed me. The lack or organisation was so costly.

Spencer ran into the ruck when Pedo was already there and it was an absolute disaster.

Nathan Jones is an A grade star. He is no Ablett but he is right up there with many of the best mids in the game. He is too important to ever put in a negative tagging role.

Some observations:

They pressured our back half and we struggled to find a way out of defense. Why did it take until the last seconds of the game for a torpedo down to guts to break things up?

We chased tail and didn't man up most of the second quarter. Looked like the days of Neild. Block space, let the opposition run around you.

Watts did a great job at one point covering the interchange, cutting off easy options for a kick out of half backust . He does some smart things, but then let's himself down (badly) at others.

We are lucky they were inaccurate. It could have been painful at half time if they capitalised on their opportunities.

Interesting that Tyson was subbed off he had about 13 possessions for 51% of time on ground, not the worst out there. Dawes and Howe need to do better with their set shots, they should not be missing some of those close in shots for goal. JKH needs more game time, he is putting in and trying and is well worth persevering with, he will get better in time. I love Frawley down forward and believe he has to stay there, even with hogan and dawes. Maybe howe moves to the wing but he needs to deliver much more than what he is doing at the moment. I am absolutely lost to understand why we do not see more barrels out from the backline up the centre to howe and possibly watts, kicking dinky little kicks to contests or worse direct to the opposition kill up. that last goal today was gold and needs to be part of our repertoire.

I hope Roos can make these guys understand the need to move the ball on quickly and the need to man up. I dont believe the Suns were all that much quicker than we were, it was just that a lot of the time our guys were 5-10 meters behind them, that makes it awfully hard to catch them up. I still believe man on man football and cut out ALL easy ball gets and tackle at every opportunity is the only way to play.

He would have Tonnes of respect in the AFL community. no doubt about it. Just because hacks like Barret and Robbo dont talk about him doesnt mean opposition players and coaches arent. I saw Jack Watts lay a tackle (if gently hugging your opponent counts as a tackle). After the tackle he fell over onto the ground, then slowly got up and started taking a leisurely Sunday stroll along the grass--even though the ball was probably 10 feet away and still in dispute. Does that count?

I am absolutely lost to understand why we do not see more barrels out from the backline up the centre to howe and possibly watts, kicking dinky little kicks to contests or worse direct to the opposition kill up. that last goal today was gold and needs to be part of our repertoire.

Because it's a risky play. By doing that, you're putting the ball in contest again; their players are just as likely to mark it as ours. In comparison to controlling the ball out of the back half, it's fraught with danger. Going coast to coast in three kicks looked sweet and the situation called for it (I'm assuming the players did not know how long there was to go), but if we'd been ahead - or there'd been more time on the clock - and Dunn did a kick like that from full back, I'd have throttled him.

It's a strategy that has its place, but only in real "roll of the dice" scenarios.

yes I know some players didnt get tackles but watts missed some easy ones that he would usually get. he wasnt the only one that missed things today.

- a dismal second quarter cost us the game, however 8 points was flattery. we were awful. Against hawthorn it would have been 20 goals
- tyson and watts were pathetic. McDonald was uncharacteristically pantsed
- can anybody stick a tackle that actually stops his opponent from disposing of the ball?
- how many years do we have to watch a pathetic result from kick-ins both in defense and offense?
- our ability overall to take mark even under the slightest pressure was non-existent
- the umpiring sucked, the pinnacle of which was gifting ablett a free inside 50 while the game wa still alive
- N.Jones and Viney were good - Frawley, Dawes, Grimes, Howe and Vince were OK. The other 15 were rubbish.
- McKenzie sucks hard.
- extremely frustrating game to watch, hated every minute of it, cannot see at this stage where any improvement is coming from
