  1. Tommy Mac had a shocker...no confidence to run off Lynch either so that added to our lack of drive out of the back half. McKenzies disposal is woeful. but man he tries hard. and the effort is there. he's simply just not good enough. Momentum killing umpires! some really awful calls today Gary Jnr lifts when he needs to 4 posis in the first qtr. then said right! let me at it... We cant tackle. But for Bail, Dawes, Frawls and Dunn at times.....Viney/Jetta with no tackles is staggering.I almost flipped my spoons when after Jonesy kicked that stirring snap goal out of a contest and was all up and about. 'ROTATION' saw N.Jones, Viney and Vince all come to the bench. In that very next center bounce we ended up with Spencer, Jordie Mac, Pederson and Cross.... I MEAN SERIOUSLY!!!!! How the fk were we going to WIN a clearance. Bang bang. Gold coast goals.... Game over....
  2. Timmy Watson yesterday hit the nail on the head when he echoed the sentiments of his old coach K.Sheedy......"If you're going to get to a contest. you have to leave an impact on that contest". What is the point in being good at reading the play, getting to the contest. but then hanging around the outer. Not bodying up someone. Not tackle assisting. and not GETTING the ball. Watts makes a lots of contest. But until he 'impacts' them. He'll be a plodder with 'talent' and 'potential'

  4. Not sure who is a part of the Casey Demons Supporter group. but for those of you who are not. This is an email we received from them today. I for one was extremely happy with the lip service. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Last night I had the great privilege of attending a meeting with Don McLardy and the coaches of the Melbourne Football Club. There were roughly 50 people in attendance at AAMI Park and we were treated to two hours of valuable information and question time. Don McLardy chaired the meeting in his normal welcoming and enthusiastic manner and we heard from Cameron Schwab, Neil Craig and Mark Neeld. The greatest thing I got from the meeting was a renewed enthusiasm and a great confidence in the Melbourne Football Club, its administration, board and coaches. Mark’s greatest demand for the players is that they give 100% each and every quarter and each and every week. There are certain key elements which demonstrate this ferociousness and determination and things like chasing and tackling are awarded a point. Every player must achieve 6 points each quarter to satisfy the coach and to remain in the team. Mark is completely confident that his coaching methods will succeed and so am I. Our team cannot be rebuilt overnight and Mark asks for us to understand this even if it’s painful in the short term. Having said that, Mark goes into every match with the belief that we can win and hopefully the players will be able to reward his belief in them very soon. Neil Craig was full of praise for the Melbourne Football Club and mentioned that he would not have uprooted his family and moved from Adelaide on a whim. He praised the club’s handling of the Liam Jurrah incident, the fiasco with our sponsor and the dignified manner in which Jim’s life was celebrated and his death mourned. He praised the board and Cameron Schwab, our CEO, who has been treated atrociously by the media. Cameron’s leadership was praised and we were assured that the club has the utmost respect for him and complete faith in how he is performing his role. I came away from the meeting feeling excited because I know that the foundations are being laid for us to become a Premiership team.
  5. Agree with BTJ....He is an extremely professional bloke in this regard. Cant wait to see what he can do with the set up we now have at Melbourne and AAMI Park. Good news!!!
  6. Apart from being a highly rated junior player he was also an elite volleyballer. James played in the Australian National Youth Team for Volleyball in 2006. Mostly because he went to the predominantly volleyball orientated sports school, Brighton Grammar (South Aus)..... Not sure this actually means anything, but a bit of info for you all. What I will say is a kid who's spent his entire life in Adelaide deserves to get out of that place. Melbourne might just be the making of the man. lets hope so!!
  7. Prendi has found some gems for us. and is highly respected as a recruiter. He will adapt, he will be able to now look for players that fit Neeld's criteria, just as he did for Bailey. He has to. otherwise he will lose his job. But Neeld won't come in and start firing bullets at people who have been doing there job as directed.
  8. ...i shall be kicking the ass of the person who sent me that link this morning.
  9. It seems as though our Jacky boy (and others) have taken it all to heart. Nath Jones on his site: "Wednesday was by far the biggest session, with hard running and skills followed by an afternoon circuit session. It left most of us feeling like cement afterwards and no doubt all the boys slept like babies." "In the gym, the boys really pushed themselves. I’m in group 2 of the weights and what a group it is. BOG for me in the gym was Jack Watts, Ricky Pettard and Jamie Bennell. They really took to shifting steel and worked extra hard.".. Good to see fellas!! FYI: http://www.nathanjones.com.au/?p=224
  10. Giants sign Mohr, Kennedy GWS has signed Casey Scorpions Best and Fairest Player Tim Mohr.
  11. its official. Brown has joined the Demons. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/tabid/7415/default.aspx?newsid=124548
  12. it was Titch Edwards.....and Jack wasnt too happy at all getting a cheap one to the ballsies. Jordie Mc saw it happen also and was giving a bit of push and shove over it. fk i love Jnr Jnr.
  13. I remember that game vividly. It was the Pink Lady cancer friday night at the 'G'. Was the first game my Mum had been to see in years!!! and she instantly fell in love with our young demons. Scully had an absolute blinder. 39 touches for the game. 15 or something in the last quarter. not to mention 3 brownlow votes..... ....one guy beat us that night too. Aker..... how times have changed! 2cents worth: 1-2 games in the VFL. hurt some people, get some confidence. Rack up the touches.
  14. Indigenous round... Wonna, Jetta, Bennell, Davey, Jurrah and anyone else who is has been in the sun a lot!. They WILL NOT be dropped.
  15. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/two-game-ban-for-melbournes-jack-trengove/story-e6frf9jf-1226052693677 challenge.
  16. Agree with both of you. The Master played like he hadn't played senior footy in a long time. He lacked confidence. and in the 4th QTR really moved like a truck that had lost his conditioning. But as most who only read the stats won't know. Bater was hard on the lead all day, and in some cases was 20-30ms in the clear only to have the ball butchered towards him or watched get kicked over his head to a contest. He showed enough that the Match committee will give him another game!
  17. i like your theory...im quite happy to run with this one and not the 'hes going to GWS' theory.
  18. Shouldn't be too bad. Suns will be far worse off without Campbell Brown than we are without Beamer.... Two stupid vice captains.....
  19. Beamer is still and always will be a very important part of our clearance lineup. No matter what his deficiencies are, non of the lads stood up in tackles, bumped opponents off the ball, held positions for other runners as much as he did last night.
  20. Another observation I really liked....did anyone else notice Lukey Tapscott (fire truck) sitting next to James Frawley. on the 50 in the 'all star' defensive line... both of the boys were sitting their taking stats, offering directions, mostly to guys like Jack Grimes/Col Garland....sitting right behind them i saw a lot of times Tappy would point and ask a question or two to Frawls, Frawls would laugh....then get a very seriously 'teacher' look on his face...and the lesson begun! was good to see that even without being on the park guys like tappy seem to be very keen in learning as much as they can!
  21. Watts was good....but we still can't paint an entirely rosey picture. the purple patch he had during the match where he almost kicked 3 goals in succession were while he was playing on Gus Patti (Casey div.2 MVP). Yes he did create the space for himself and kicked a good goal in congestion. but lets not get too carried away
  22. considering we followed trav up the next yr with Chris Lamb...21 games. we probably lucked out. but you know what. past is the past...trav opened a door for another young melbourne star. hopefully he flourishes. thanks trav. ill miss you
  23. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/106016/default.aspx another glowing report on how fit this guy is. my fingers are crossed! i just hope he wears the long-stops during this ridiculously wet pre season!
