Some measure of Mitch's commitment to his footy, and more generally the Club, will be whether or not he shows up tonight.

My money says he won't bother, preferring to post photos taken around his house (his latest subject) on Twitter.

Six weeks to recover from a 'hammy twinge' - you're kidding aren't ya?

Are you saying he's pretending to not recover from a twinge so he can concentrate on his photos for a few weeks? Ha.

I don't doubt that your source truly believes this, but it just doesn't sound likely to me. Compared to footy, the money in photography is a pittance. And the good thing about having a passion for photography is that's an any time, any place thing - there's room in your life for a career *and* a photography addiction.

He has rocks in his head if he throws away his footy career for the camera. Even if he does want to make a career out of it, he would surely prefer to earn several hundred thousand a year for a few more years to get himself further ahead financially first.

He will never be on several hundred thousand a year when this contract expires and he would be aware of that, he's going to have to take a massive pay cut, don't be surprised if heads back to Perth when he takes offence to what the club offers him .

It will depend on June to August 2014 and 2015.

He will need some very big games in that period to gain a good contract beyond 2015.

Right now there is not another AFL club that would be interested in him.

Miracles do happened but not very often.

It's been fairly well documented that Mitch 'sings from a different hymn book' than your average AFL player.

What I'm on about is the fact that Mitch's passion for photography has overtaken his enthusiasm for footy. It's got nothing to do with how much money he can make from one profession or the other.

He'll be on good money for the next 3 years whether or not he even steps on the ground.

If you follow https://twitter.com/MitchClark11 there's sweet FA about the football side of his life in comparison with his photography.

In the absence of definitive evidence, conjectures are supported by emotional escalation and the formation mutually hostile groups for which the chosen conjecture(s) are a talisman of membership. Initially 'soft' differentiation between groups is reinforced over time as hostility leads each group to disagree with members of the other on any available subject of conjecture, eventually leading to an irreconcilable division between the groups and a commitment to the declared conjectures even in cases where new and decisive evidence becomes available.

Welcome to Demonland; origin of the 21st century conflict known as "The cult wars of Mitch Clark and his foot".

Can we call the breakaway "Mitch's foot is stuffed, go Pederson" faction the "PodiPedo Peddlers"?

That was a waste of 15 seconds of my life.

Am I reading this all correctly, have people actually lost their minds?!?!?!? Why is there two pages about Mitch wanting to leave footy for photography when some guy says he has a "source"? I'm out...

Demonland loves going into meltdown, but unless you are M_9 how do you know it was tongue in cheek? Does chookrat=M_9?

No sane person would conclude that MC will hang up his footy boots because he spends more time posting online about his photography than he does footy, therefore I concluded it must be tongue in cheek.

It would be funny if it weren't so worrying. I don't think I've seen a better example on Demonland before of the pathology that can be whipped up from pure inane speculation.

Are you saying he's pretending to not recover from a twinge so he can concentrate on his photos for a few weeks? Ha.

He's very recently bought a 35mm Leica (an M3 I think) and has moved to old school silver halide film instead of digital.

As well he has expressed an interest in processing the film himself and also printing.

I can well understand how he may have less time for footy.

The photography does seem for the moment to be an all-abiding passion.

OMG he wants to learn about wet-plate photography. He's left out the Theory and Practice of Using a View Camera.

At least he'll struggle to find anyone in Melb with any interest in wet-plate education.

The View Camera is another matter.

Fair enough chookrat. I must sharpen my joke antennae. But I haven't seen M_9 post anything subsequently that indicates he meant it tongue in cheek. I wonder if he really believes it or is he just maintaining the joke.

Not to mention all of those other players who don't even have Twitter accounts... they have lost all interest in everything, poor souls!

Sue - no worries. I think that future generations will draw a link between mental illness in Demonland posters and their offspring and MFC's performance during the past 7 years. The impact of 186, its lead up and fallout will be found to have had wode reaching effects, the symptoms of which we are seeing now.

Hard to be passionate about something you haven't been allowed to do for 2 years.

Give him one good game and he'll be back hook line and sinker.

Just look at us supporters. One pre season win and it's all roses and champagne around here.

He was on fox tonight and said he is starting to ramp up his training again but didn't give a return date or round which is to be expected.

He also said he was having soft tissue injuries which he and the club thought might happen cause of the nature of his original injury.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
