I get sick of posters crucifying our players.....Dunn is the perfect example

2013 averages

Disp marks tackles DT points Frees for(overall 2013) Frees against(overall 2013

16 3.7 3.3 68 13 8

Now you can take stats anyway you like but Dunn is one of our players that seems to care about the result ....I know that he does have some brain fades but tell me one of our players that didn't during the past three years.....

He takes most of our kick outs and is a terrific kick whether he is forward or back......

The bravado which at times can be over done, at least will stick up for his team mates which has been lacking in our team for a long time.....

He is not the worst on our list......just the current whipping boy since Cale left......Get off his back...

OMG....do you think we should redraft Cale to keep pressure off Lynden ???

The point many seem to want to overlook is that if we are to amount to anything Dunn ought not be good enough to be best 22.

Which top 8 side would he get a game with ??

I suggest ...none

I feel that Dunn would slot quite nicely in the 22-25 of a few top 8 teams, especially coming into finals season when choosing between an 18-20 year old to a 25 year old utility. he would definitely be able to play a role in many teams due to his flexibility.

For example: this season Taylor Durea played alot of games for hawthorn, but i feel that having the option of Dunn would have been a prefferred one.

collingwood were lacking having another forward target that would be kicking goals, and also got games into youngsters, but having said that if they had the choice im sure they would have played dunn up forward.

probably could have been a role player for sydney in finals time aswell.

I feel that people either expect too much, or just dont like the fact he is a bit of a [censored], football wise apart from a few errors (which everyone in our team is prone to) Dunn can be a very solid role player, and probably even a little bit more.

Ok, I have posted this before but there is a dearth of people on my side of the argument chiming in so...

Dunn has played about 3 good 'half-seasons' and has been tried in all positions with serious limitations in all areas. His work as a HBF (in the easiest position to play in the world) is not terrible, it's not great as he is not a great defender, but he can hide with The Big Three down there.

But the thing that I can't stand is the faux toughness. The jumper punching, the short steps before a contest, the tough talk without the walk - I want him to stay and play well and help us get better, but I don't like the way he has gone about his footy, and I do not see a future for him past 2014/2015, especially if Grimes is pushed out of the midfield.

We have this thread every year (although this is a mutated training thread) and I think it is because we still see him as an up-and-coming fringe player ready for bigger things: he is 27 next year and yet to cement a position in the 22.

We have Matt Jones being dismissed as an AFL player by some on here as is too old and reached his peak. He is 6 months younger than Dunn, has played one season, and has already had a better AFL season than Dunn.

Why the disconnect?

I'll say this:

For a bloke that it seemed a lot of people wanted traded, due to their paranoia he would bolt at the first opportunity, as he hasn't yet signed a contract extension... it's good to see James Frawley showing the commitment of attending preseason training well before he is required to, when others with the same requirements, but with far more that they need to prove, having not yet attended.

Gotta love the bloke, and I'd say anyone who claims his declarations of love for the club in recent times are a smokescreen, are clearly poor judges of character.

Bookmarked.

What you are ignoring is that his coaching, particularly in the last 5 years has been deplorable. What Roos is extremely good at is getting players to play to their potential. It seems to me Dunne has not nearly played to his potential yet.

I think under Roos he may well develop into a player of significance

he doesnt have it...hes a ruse,,,not a roos

These threads are usually just space fillers anyway - how many different ways can you say 'it's November and they are running laps of Gosch's Paddock in groups'?

True, but I read most of it anyway and appreciate the reports. But sadly the only real news is bad news, like when someone is injured.

Reckon he'd get a game at Hawks, such a nice kick ala guerra. Freo as the 3rd tall back behind. That's a nice start for him. He is good one on one, a good kick, has some speed.

Wow we are critical, it's fashionable not to like him. Will have a good 2014 under roos and maybe we will ease off th criticism.

Did Dunn actually play on any marking forwards? If so, I'll give the 1-on-1 stat some credence.

He should towel up the likes of Thomas and Hams everytime at his height / weight.

He played a couple of games on serious KPF marking targets when we had injuries in the backline. Not against any of the best forwards in the league I think, but he still did the job against bigger opponents.

I agree with what a few people have said, if he can improve his decision-making with the ball in hand and stop giving away stupid frees he'll be a very handy player for us next year.

Have you ever thought that when he has to make a decision he has to have a decision to make.

Last year there were very few options and if you think that thru then you will understand the 'stupid frees '

i guess the better question would be how often does a best 22 actually get on the field? so really it is a best 25-28 that is a grand final team, and Dunn would be in all 18 teams best 25-28 100%

Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
