I like our trading and picks this year they show some real clarity of purpose.

An even top 10 so we traded up to 2 "top ten" players instead of one.

JHK fills a gap and sounds like he is a Roos hard working type.

We clearly have a no DH policy now.

Even if some of the choices dont work I have a sense of confidence about what they are trying to achieve and that must be being felt by the playing group.

This was my favourite selection of last night.

Think he will be a good one - a hard at it/defensive Jamie Bennell (what I always wanted).

Don't think he will take to long to slot into the team and like that he can play midfield.

Is it just me or does he look like Christensen?

Except on Demonland. Pity. (No, I don't mean you, Robbie57)

Jeez, Billy...

He won't just be asked to play small forward though, he will have to move into the rotation and from reports he was comfortable doing that. Seems incredibly mature for a draftee and as I said, is at uni already, I think he is a small chance to start Rd 1 if he stays injury free.

2014 rpfc Prediction: 8 games ave 8 K, 3 H, 2 M, 1 G, 3 T.

Be interesting to see how he goes after an AFL preseason. If he can develop a tank his speed will stay more constant.

He might be that what ever you get hen you mix up a Farmer/Davey/Ballantyne/Riolli etc.. ours might just be a Kennedy Harris

He always seems composed. That of course will now be sorely tested but we need a small lively type in the arc.

Seems we had an eye on him for a while.

oh well bring on 14

Clubs have many small forwards who we hope JKH has the same qualities as. Why do some compare him to just fellow indigenous players when there are plenty of other players with non-indigenous backgrounds with similar skills?

because.......thats more than often who they are....the indigenous ones.. Do we just ignore that .... Seems pretty f'n obvious to me

For the interests of this thread, I have deleted my posts. In no way were they meant to be of a racist manner, and I apologise if anyone was offended.

Welcome to the Melbourne Football Club Jay. If you can turn out to be half the footballer of another small forward, Stephen Milne, we will have a beauty on our hands at a relatively cheap pick. (Nb. I'm talking about onfield results).

Quality guy as well. Determined and self motivated. Dad passed away when he was 13. Studying science at Melb Uni. Super keen to make something of his chance in the AFL.

looking forward to having a nickname for him

I cant stand people with 2 surnames, it is so faggy

That's a really mature appraisal.

Well done. Your parents must be proud.

Anyway, happy with this pick.

JKH should be the best small forward prospect we've had in years.

I was going to suggest Julian Clary as a nickname.

In honour of the 50 year anniversary of the assasination of JFK today, I move that Jay Kennedy-Harris' nickname from this day be:

JHK

Just switching the K and the H around.

HH's rather distasteful comment got me thinking how about calling him Neil Patrick short for How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris.

So there you go I'll be calling him Neil Patrick, get on board people.

How about Jay?

Really liked the look of JKH in the highlights package. Love his pace. First option was always to take the game on. Has a certain "X Factor" that we've been lacking.

Looking at the sample of highlights, it doesn't seem like his kicking is a problem, rather his decision making. Seemed to only feel comfortable banging it long to a contest.

Has a lot to learn and as per usual, I will follow his progress closely. Good luck to him.

With Kent and Jay, we now have two different types of small forwards. I think we will be ok for that role now and can bolster other areas.

There is no doubt we will be a different combination over the next few years.

There goes that MFC optimism surging again in the pre season.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
