Any chance we'll see Liam Jurrah again?

The romantic in me longs for a better ending to this man's footy story, and I'd love to see his magic in the Red & Blue again...

I know its a dream...

Playing in defence in Alice at the moment

I too would love to see it, if he is re-drafted to us I hope the club employs an indigenous assistant (ex player) to help and aid LJ's transition back into the AFL life style. Someone he will feel he can approach and will understand any matters on his mind. Yet also someone who will give him a grilling if he belives he hasn't done something to the best of his ability. A bit of a father figure really.

My God. How could you possibly want LJ back?? Represents so much that was wrong with the club at that point. Sure there was a feel good story and he had blazing talent but the number of times we had to make exceptions for 'cultural' reasons to training regimes, fitness levels etc etc actually has a corrosive influence at the club. Its not fashionable to say it but its true.

Not suggesting he'd be the bloke but what's Wheels up to these days? Has he headed back to NT or is he Melbourne based?

Only reason why I ask is because Flash always spoke very highly of how much of a role model he was and he could be an interesting person to have as a bit of a mentor.

One of the main issues was the lack of support and structures around the club; if the club was set up accordingly and he was managed better he still may very well be playing for us. By saying that Josh Mahoney appeared to build excellent rapports with the indigenous players, so I don't want to take anything away from him.

Of course there were something’s out of the clubs control, but there were plenty well within. Hopefully he's mentally matured and the right structures can be employed to support him. If so I'd welcome him back with open arms because his football again will likely do him and us wonders.

we need jurrah.

If Roos was able to get Jurrah back and had him playing committed football, that would be the cherry on top for me. It would be a good story to get him and help him get his life on track again, but for me he is not a required element to our success.

Lmao at people wanting jurrah back!! What has this board come too..??!

All Liam Jurrah talks about on his facebook is getting drunk all the time and doing skids in his car..

Seriously wake up people and smell the roses!

This is a plain garbage. The previous Board and Administration got a lot of things terribly wrong and the Club has paid an awful price for it. But they should be congratulated for the manner in which they supported, protected and inducted Liam Jurrah into AFL. The Club went even further and reached out and engaged with his community up North to better appreciate and understand Liam. There was a significant effort and support provided by the Club for Liam.

It's sad that Jurrah made life choices which have turned ugly for him. Even when arrested the Club continued to support Liam.

If anything Jurrah has let himself down and has not returned the favour to the Club that did so many for him. He struggled with the demands of AFL when he was in the system. Since he has wallowed and the demands of AFL have gone past him.

Roos has enough to focus on without directing attention to high maintenance project players..

Absolutely not, should not have taken him the first time, nothing against Liam and good luck to him in his life but he does not have the desire or hunger for this level of football.

Should have taken Rockliff instead as he was training with us. The Club decided to take Rockliff in the rookie draft but were gazumped by Brisbane in the PSD.

If Roosy reckons it's worth a shot, why not?

PR is the kind of coach with enough cache to be able to say 'trust me, I can control the situation...if not, it won't be a situation'.

LJ was a terrific talent, and honestly in the top handful of exciting footballers to play for our club.Even Roos is not even that stupid.

Even Roos isn't that stupid as half the posters here who want him back.

Jurrah is playing desert footy atm, and plays whenever it suits him. If he was fair dinkum he would be training his ass off now and playing footy up in Darwin this year.

I would rather Dustin Martin then this bloke and that's saying something!

Essentially I agree with RR, and how could you not. This simply is what its about.

I find myself very conflicted about this guy. Talk about the adage "Everything or Nothing !!"

This aint Hollywood however.

A salivating idea on one hand, a preposterous reality on the other.

Could you please provide the link to this Facebook page you talk of? Reading your comments prompted me to do a search and not one of the handful of pages turned up, had any reference to alchohol at all. I get the feeling you are making this up purely because you dislike the person. You are correct... what has this board come to!!

Liam's journey over the past couple of years would have changed him, and ideally helped him make himself a better person.

If that resulted in him deciding to try to resume his AFL career, then the MFC offering him a rookie spot seems a no brainer.

Fans of Paul Newman in "The Hustler", know that character is built through adversity and tragedy, Liam has had both.

And should he want it, we'd be mad not to embrace him.

There is an older thread with this article but:

http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2013/08/20/324043_ntnews.html

I think he should definetly be looked into as a Rookie (as well as Garlett) but it all comes down to their attitudes and whether Paul Roos can control them.

Lets not forget that Jurrah was not some reckless mess when he was with us - he made one big mistake which put him on a troublesome path (he just needs to be guided back onto the right path).

From memory he wasn't one who didn't show up to training or was out late drinking - and if anything this whole scenario may have helped him in the long run.

I don't dislike the person look at who I listed as my favourite player and still is to this day. But the bloke has completely gone off rails. He has more baggage then dunstin martin and Jurrah has done his dash as a MFC player.

While we are at it do you think we should give Sea Charles a look or Donald Cockatoo Collins a ring?

Oh and if you think im making it up then you are delusional because im not going to share someones facebook on a public forum. Oh and btw liam has changed his name on facebook.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
