Has anyone else noticed that Jimmy Toumpas often gets caught with the ball and

lacks pace.

Oh FFS its September it's not January school holidays.

Delete this thread before it gains traction.

Lack of pace is probably to do with the hip stuff, watch his clips as a junior, has a serious yard of pace in those, fully confident Roosy and co will have him up and about round 1 2014

He had no pre-season, came off a hip injury... Therefore he has no core, no power to generate any strength from.

Toumpas was drafted in consideration of this, I personally didn't rate him that highly - but that was only based on the under 18 champs.

Supposedly back then he had hip complaints and played throughout the champs under done.

Everything is always potential with MFC, so I wasn't surprised we drafted Jimmy - ahead of ready made talent.

The Jimmy Toumpas situation, it is what it is... At present it's not a concern, the guy basically had no pre-season.

Some of you [censored] should go get a hip op and then see how well you'll run afterwards.

It seems to be part of joining MFC you lose 10 metres of pace, it is a given. Trengove and Sylvia come to mind. And I should include Watts. He tested well at the draft camp but I am yet to see him put on the after burners at any time if it means getting to a contest.

I see more upside in toumpas then many others he has elite skills something most footballers arnt born with but with those skills he is absouletly determined to be an elite player add our new football department and imo we have a true superstar on our list mark my words he will be a star!

I have heard he is a very driven bloke but. Has put massive amount of expectations on himself and is very desperate to become a very good AFL which he will be. Works very hard on the track and is a very professional young player.

It will all come to place for the toump and he will become a star for the MFC.

He's a sensitive kid who is up to his neck in feelings, so he's probably more prone to confidence swings than most players. He is exactly the sort of player I'd expect to respond to a coach like Roos, who connects with his players better than most.

Furthermore I imagine his hip troubles would play a huge impact in his present lack of core strength.

I'm still very bullish Toumpas. He's skilled and clever, just needs confidence and body strength to go with it.

If you compare his first couple of games with his last couple, he probably had the greatest percentage improvement of any player on our list for the year.

I missed his last few games. Can people describe how he went at the end. on stats alone he was getting more of the ball.

Just cleaner, more confidence, looked more natural. Early in the season he looked like a kid among men. Still did towards the end but certainly improved.

I don't think your trolling. I must say I agree, after hearing so much last year about his excellent pace I have not noticed it once as he waddles along. I haven't seen him break away from the pack at all.

I am only hoping that it's due to a limited pre-season, or some training regime that was in place under Neeld that also has slowed down the likes of Trengove (I hope Roos identifies the issue and fixes it). For all we know it could just be mental thing as he is not yet comfortable in the AFL.

I will give him another season before I properly judge him on it.

didnt you know that your only suppose to pick on players that people here don't like....jeez... If your thread targeted Jack Watts, then you'd be on a winner....lol...

I think you'd find that if you got into a time machine that took you back to 2009, you'd find similar opposition to threads targeting Jack Watts.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
