Dustin Martin

I'm leaning towards no. I would be a yes if sufficient roadblocks were put in place to ensure he doesn't go off the rails and if the FD can see that he sincere in being the best player he can be. We need mids but we have a rep as soft, party boys as it is.
As Ned Flanders might say, 'This is a dilly of pickle!'

This kid could be anything but it is a big no from me.

Effective, strong, skillful, grunt - check

Comes from a great mentoring system - check.

Dose of mongrel - big check.

But he has personal connections/relationships into areas of society that are putrid (similar to Jake King) and we are bringing that over into our group. After everything else MFC has done to itself over the past 7 years, please not this also.

If Dustin wants to make it in football and in life, he needs to move out of Victoria away from his family who are the biggest, main influence for him being the dysfunctional young man he is. Same reason he should not go near Sydney.

I have a connection who knows Cotchin reasonably well and he says that Cotchin will be glad to have him out of his house (for those that don't know he's been bunked up there this season). Also has a full-time minder and still gets up to all sorts of mischief.

Fraught with danger.

He is exactly what we need in everyway except culture. I would think Martin was the last player a list needs who is trying to create good culture and thus this is a big NO to me. However, if Roos thinks differently I will trust Roos.

Surely Martin fails the no [censored] policy.

ability very high.... good, & BAD

default position.... Sad.

pass !

if you want hard get Chappy to teach it.... & recruit well.

Spot on. We are not the Swans or Geelong who could perhaps absorb and help settle a bloke like Martin. We cannot afford any more drams, particularly given we are not out of the woods with ASADA yet. We need some clear air with no late night sightings and questionable connections
A big, big no from me.

Martin's talent is exactly, and I mean exactly, what we need. He has explosive pace but gets his own ball (i.e. he's both 'outside' and 'inside'), and he kicks goals.

Obviously the off-field stuff and his culture issues are a problem, but if Roos thinks there's something to work with, then I'm all for taking him.

I have stated a number of times that I don't care what players do outside of the time they are playing.

I am only interested in guys who can play well.

However even that strategy has a limit.

This guy is a rolled gold D H.

No thank you he will be a good fit at the Saints!

Whats the disclosure rules for drugs strikes? If (big if, there's no way of knowing, but it is likely given his history) Martin has two strikes altready is he obliged to let any potential suitors know that? Reason for the question is yes it's all well and good offering him the $650K a year, but what happens if he never gets on the park due to a third strike during the off-season for example?

That's my only negative in picking him up.

Will look forward to what she comes out with if he leaves.

I've gone from 50/50 to would take. I'm willing to overlook the odd d-head act for a player of his ability. The talk of him being a culture cancer seems overblown when you look at the progress of Richmond. He will mature as he ages, and his talent is undeniable.

If he is serious and wants to turn into a truly professional footballer, then surely he wouldn't mind signing a contract with get out clauses for the club.

I reckon Martin is worth the risk on a big money, two-year deal via the PSD. While he is a great footballer, he isn’t worth pick #2 given his off field behaviour.

Why do people think that we are able to get any player we want via the PSD? It's ridiculous!

Oh, lets get Adams, Swallow, Martin, what about we ask Ablett to come through the PSD to us? Why wouldn't he?

just when we're trying to fix our weak culture you want to bring in the one who can lead it the opposite direction. down a dark alley.

we want hard, rugged & tough... not bad.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
