Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

The Bombers will be in the clear, because ASADA cannot even interview Dank.

Because he isn't involved with Cronulla or Essendon anymore and if he refuses to be interviewed - then ASADA can't interview him.

So, becaues of Dank, Essendon dodge a bullet.

ASADA is obviously [censored] and will go after whatever they can get, which will be Sir James, who under ASADA rules hasn't breached them.

But, what might stump Essendon, just judging by what I hear in the media, is the injection regime - clearly 40 times for a young player is too much.

So the rigorous injections might get them and players like Reimers and past players giving evidence will be what gets Hird and co.

Players should be fine I would think.

Someone told me he did this a few years ago. He did it out of the boot of his car. I didnt believe the person but holy hell. Thank god we ignored him.

Its a shame our team cant look at essendon and the way they get together as a team and unite. Bloody hell I cannot believe they have beaten freo. Freo were all over them in the 1st half. Now essendon are 3-0. Holy well cant they just start losing.

Regardless of what Hird has done in the passed the AFL will find a way to punish him.

He brings a guy with a very shady passed into the club and then gives him carte blanche to jab the players with untested supplements, and goes on to brag about its success.

If the tanking investigation has taught us anything it's that you don't get in trouble to the letter of the law, you get in trouble according to the court of public opinion and the damage it does to the AFL brand.

Andy D will make sure Hird goes down.

Yep. Look how they respond to an off-field crisis.

I'd kind of been blaming our own off-field crises for our poor performances - not so sure, now. Maybe they're a test of character (one we failed)

I hate Essendon, but I admired watching them tonight, stuck together as a TEAM, backed each other up and attacked every contest with a fantastic intensity. Both sides were actually hard at it all night. Players giving everything for the coach. Yes I hate them but I would love our boys to stand up and hit every contest like that. Players like Hocking and Howlett are the types we could have done with picking up in the drafts years ago, skinny project types as opposed to guys who are just hard and never give up that is a glaring deficiency we have now.

Hocking would be a nightmare to play against I watched him tonight every bump was with intent to hurt the opposition or at least make him earn a possession, he was desperate as were his teammates in their attack on the loose ball. Cmon Dees time to lift you may lack some skills but have a look at both these sides tonight for the non-negotiables.

I agree - the manner in which the Bombers went about the 2nd half was exemplary. Actually not dissimilar to our effort against them last year, in terms of fight and going hard at it, but with far greater ball skills.

Much as I love to hate them, you've got to admire their unflinching desire and belief in the middle of all the uncertainty and distraction.

I never do this, but I just can't stop myself from correcting you on your inexplicable usage of the word "passed" when you really mean "past." The English language deserves better than that, and so do we.

His response was a bit misleading, because he twice said that it's not illegal for a coach to take a banned substance. Strictly speaking, this is correct. Only athletes can be disciplined for taking a banned substance.

However, he left out the issue of possession. I imagine that any official would claim that possession is only for personal consumption. But the AFL code does not stipulate the purpose of possession; it simply states that possession is a breach, both for players and officials. It carries the same penalty as use for a player.

I doubt that the AFL wants to go down this path.

Thanks 'Brian'.

Interesting comment on SEN just then, missed who said it.

Seems there are a lot of people who believe Dank is not telling the truth when he gave Hird banned substance, but is telling the truth when he says he didn't inject players with any banned substances.

God I'm getting sick of hearing ex-players, mates, talk-back callers etc defending Saint James

Ok, innocent until proven guilty and all that, but I reckon he's seriously weird. Implementing a drug regime that sounds absolutely disgusting. Pigs friggin brains? Hanging out with Doctor Ageless. What sort of effing idiot goes and has a creep like Dank jab him in the guts because he's feeling a bit rundown? If I'm feeling run down I have a fruit juice.

(maybe I'm just jealous at the respect his players have for him - they'd walk on broken glass for him - reminds me of how important it is for players to respect their coach - another reason I reckon Neelds hopeless - I reckon Malthouse runs around recommending his assistants for coaching jobs because he knows they'll be his opposition one day)

he sent us an email. big whoop.

And also, it shows that people in the club (including players) were willing to push the boundaries on multiple fronts, when they should have been worrying about learning to play footy.

So get your 'big whoop' and shove it where the sun don't shine.

Well from what we know so far, it was 1 person that lied - Dan Bates.

Hopefully it is that simple.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
