Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I fear the scattergun has been produced. For the second year in a row

Haha, oh dear. He is honestly an embarrassment to this sport. As soon as word got out that Cross wouldn't get a new contract, every footy fan in the country saw that we'd be the best fit for him. Ah Damo.

I know he's prone to the odd silly statement but he has to be deadset joking if he is equating trading this year to last year.

Welcome Crossy you ripper!

Always thought this bloke was a bit of a [censored]. I was wrong. He is a massive [censored]. We have targeted midfielders and more mids, HTFanyone can call this scattergun and be treated seriously beggars belief.

Well done to the club on getting Cross.

If we get even 45% of the centre breaks/stoppages then it will be about 30% better than 2013 .

I dont care if the guy is 30 or 20 -just get a kick from a ball up and you are a gun in my book.

Oscar Pistorious could have got more kicks than our mids this year.

I think you need to take the rose coloured glasses off. We are ahead of them with forwards and backs.

Our midfield is nowhere near as good as theirs. Griffen is a star. Libba has had an amazing year and if continues on will be a star. Boyd is a solid A grader, Cooney showed this year that he can still turn it on and the injury hasnt slowed him down too much. Add their list of young mids coming through who have already shown a lot more than just promise.

Compare it to our list which has Jones B+ (almost A) and then some good young potential. Vince will replace Sylvia's out put and then a little bit more. Cross is a great pick up. Tyson has played 13 games and hasnt had a good run yet. Michie has played 1 AFL game and has had a truckload of injuries.

Gawn will have to double his output from last season to be anywhere near Minson. I remeber the game we played against the dogs this year where Gawn was doing a decent job of staying even with Minson. Then in the last quarter it looked like Gawn could have fallen over from exhaustion. Minson powered through, won the rucks with ease competing agaisnt both Fitzy and Gawn single handed, gave their midfield the easiest run I have seen from a ruck. They had a massive comeback and nearly pinched it. This is Minson strength, I have seen him lift multiple times in the last quarter while the other rucks tire.

Do I? (need to take the rose colored glasses off).

We will see who is right and I promise to remind you at season's end. Deal?

I don't give a toss about what Barrett says .... he's a dimwit, and everybody who knows football knows it.

On the other hand, what I do care a great deal about is the fact that for the first time in more than a decade the signs are there that my club is starting to excel in a lot of what it does off the field, and I'm becoming bullish about what we might be able to do on the field as well.

I'm not sure where this comes from, but it seems to come up every so often. He had already done a lot before joining the Swans:

David Misson is the Physical Performance Manager of the Sydney Swans. Prior to that he was Fitness Advisor for the Australian Cricket Team and he is a former nationally-ranked track and field athlete and former NSW 400m Hurdles Champion. David has also worked with the Wallabies, Tennis Australia, NSW Institute of Sport, Sydney Swifts Netball Team, the Brumbies and the Waratahs.

His father is Frank Misson, who played cricket for NSW and 5 tests for Australia in the early 60's.

As I said, I don't think he has major qualifications, but considerable experience. Sure, he's done a lot of work, I didn't dispute that. But I was referring to the previous poster's suggestion that Cross would come to us so as to learn under Misson, and when he finishes his studies may soon have higher qualifications.

2011

The ever-consistent performer put his body on the line in trademark fashion in 2011 and averaged over 24 possessions per game for the seventh season in a row. Ranked No. 1 at the club for tackles (125, averaging 5.7), handballs (323, averaging 14.7) and marks (125, averaging 5.7) in 2011. His fearless style of play was recognised with a nomination for Most Courageous Player at the AFLPA awards.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
