Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Having watched the post match presser from Sunday, i really hope we can find a role for Craigy. Took on one of the toughest jobs (interim coach) ever i would think after a horribilis year and a half under Neeld. Seems a little disappointed that he's unlikely to get a shot at it.

Comes across as a top bloke, solid thinker of the game and a pretty good people manager. Hope all goes well for him as all this unfolds. I'd personally take Craig over Eade (if these were the only genuine candidates for the role) all day every day.

Sounds like a done deal. But until we get that signature anything can happen. Like may on here the decision with the family would have been decided long ago. As they already know whats involved AFL coaches in terms of demands on his family. Though it would be less so in Melbourne than Sydney as there would be less travel etc.

LOL I didn't look here for 5.5 hours and there was about 240 new posts to read

like most, I think this is the case at hand:

deal is done. Perhaps not on paper but done.
PJ stage management decrees that official announcement occurs at the exact right moment
that moment is not right now
therefore some time has to be bought with some excuse
therefore the 'family discussion' line is trotted out.

It makes no sense that he would not have already established the family situation by now, that would have been the first box ticked (after how many dumptrucks full of cash do I get, of course). As if he would have made all this gather steam without having it ticked first, that would be moronic. Also having 40,000 ppl mad at your family is not the wisest thing to do. He may have needed some other assurances to do with our finances, staff, draft picks etc assumedly PJ and the AFL have given him this and it's done with now.

The amount of media ppl and others on this forum with their 'sources' is just overwhelming now... even with our collective MFCSS there are only about 2 posters even holding out.

The discussion around assistants doesn't interest me for 2 reasons: a) Roos will know exactly what he's doing and b) just the fact he is who he is should mean we can get whoever we want unlike having to pick scraps off like the floor like we have had to the last 7 years.

His price as many have pointed out is a moot point becuase he will pay it all back in spades

My friends we may get to the point again where we are proud of our club and attend games optimistically. We may even like some of our players. We may even be able to heap carp on our Essendon/Collingwood/Carlton mates after a win. The players at this moment would be hammered at a bar somewhere, on this strength of this news just getting pumped for next year already. No more unknown assistants to guide them, we have the real McCoy - the guys like Frawley and Jones that have been around a while must be thinking geeeez it's about time!

EFFING excited

PS: Round 1 2014 at the MCG please

I am currently overseas with intermittent reception so thanks to everyone here at Demonland for keeping me up to date. I am beyond excited about the possibilities of having Paul Roos as our coach next season.

I hope that the article in this morning's Melbourne Age by Jake Niall gets a few people excited as the author for one is certainly optimistic and the bookmakers have Roos at shorter odds than Black Caviar!

The Quest is History.

Most posters who have inside knowledge are quoting their source from the mfc end.

My word comes from the coaches end.

Deal was done some time ago.

Announcement on Thursday

Paul Roos will then officially be announced as the coach

At the b&f or during the day Dnn?

I would like Roos as Coach but not if he needs to be talked into the job at 2m a year.

Time to get someone else.

Can PJ also coach as our previous CEO thought he could?

?

If this happened, it would almost be worth paying the $200 to go to the B & F to experience what it's like to be in a real life riot.

Could it just be that he'd prefer it not to be announced until his family get back from Bhutan? Explain why it's a "done deal" by all accounts, but it hasn't actually happened yet. Decision's been made, it's just that he wants to announce it at a particular time.

So you are saying your source is one of the OTC presenters? If that's the case, how come you had trouble deciding whether it was OTC or AFL360? Sorry, but I am having a lot of trouble giving too much credence to your posts.

As I said, have never watched either. I thought that was the one Ross was on

panic, panic, panic...everywhere panic.

One moment everyone's up, the next its a Chicken Little convention.

Lets just for a moment step back and look at the picture that's absorbed our gaze.

For some the story will start after Neelds exit, for others they assure us it began after the walloping given us by Messendon ( of all people ) .

Roos was approached., and possibly again later when our own change of guard had taken place.

Hey Paul...... Nupp nupp, not interested in coaching , no no no no no

some whiles later

Mr Roos ..... Still cant say I'm interested in a coaching gig

sounds like the 'official party line '

Now to me the thing here is whilst he has been rather steadfast and manifest in all this , in reality we only see the publicly ordained varietel. This is and always has been the " for public consumption" answer. What we have learnt is this man is rather adept at the medium he works for/in.

There is no question that taking the reigns of such an illustrious club at a point in its history that's been riddled with what kind folk may describe as a lack of success and others more succinct as a total 'balls up" would or could be daunting and a decision ought not be made with any haste or misconceptions.

So why do folk now buy this smoke and mirrors palm off that it all will come down to a discussion when the kids and Tammi get back form their 'enlightenment' in Bhutan ? Really ? Any such misgivings and or resistances / objections will have been gone over a long time back. Only from that could you then embark on contemplating taking on the Melbourne job, not the other way around. Roos is an orderly type. His birthday fall the day before mine. I have an understanding of this type of Cancerian. Family is very important and he is by no means apportioning mere lip service to his weighing of the various elements that he has chosen to form his decision. But for mine they would have been looked at very early on if not first.

What we are really seeing is a very masterfully concocted 'version' of whats happening. Its a bit like a dramatised film, 'based" on a true story. Essentially its all there but some things are embellished to better suit the watching.

As a person who values family I can fully understand if this were, in his view , to extend to his football families and by such he would respect the place and time that Craig has had at Melbourne and not want to step on toes. This is not his time ( PR) as such it's others'.

I'm firmly of the view that once this event is put to bed that then and only then will he feel comfortable in taking to the stage for this is what it is, a show.

Note the trending form no, to if one was to look at coaching, to commentary about Melbourne, still saying no but outlining what anyone who were to coach would need to understand, to a remarkable shift towards 50/50 through to no decision til maybe next Tuesday.

Really Mr Roos, I think i've seen through this ruse and look forward to your remaking of the MFC.

Its a bit like a train ride; we know where it's going, only the time it arrives may be up for discussion.

Hang on...Roos himself stated during On The Couch last night, that he would NOT rain on the BnF parade by making his announcement on Thursday. He made a point of saying that Thursday was all about 2013 and was the players' time to celebrate.

There are more sources here than on the condiments shelf at Woolies, and like their neatly shelved counterparts, most of them lack substance.

Did you notice Sheahan laugh at a Roos answer and then realize he may have been on camera, quickly compose himself and look embarrassed for a few minutes.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
