I only have to look at signature to know that we need to be prudent in our decision making. I see benefits to a "rolls up the sleeve" kind of guy like Kennett, but he may not be the answer. Much more information is required before we flippantly endorse anyone. But ridiculing the guy and fobbing him off with the wave of a hand also doesn't make sense for the same reasons.

B-H, in case you haven't noticed, ridiculing politicians is a national sport. One of the most predictable pieces of television I've ever seen occurred on Thursday night when Sam Newman opened TFS in an MFC blazer with an unfunny, pathetic impression of Jeff. It says plenty about the audience that they actually laughed with him and not at him (Newman).

There's a debating technique known as "reductio ad absurdum" which is used around these parts and is often misunderstood. You can endorse or unendorse people using that technique but some think you're being absolutely serious. To me, there's nothing wrong with taking the mickey out of people who seriously claim that the CEO of a football club can't be involved in making football decisions or that the only honest people on Demonland are those who are anti Neeld.

I have my own views on Neeld (and he's made some poor decisions) but I have no doubt that some of the things he's done during his tenure have been beneficial for the long term future of the club. The problem is that in the short term, we suck.

Therefore B-H, although I don't question your right to hold the views you have about Mark Neeld, when you do call him a nutjob, aren't you also just "ridiculing the guy and fobbing him off with the wave of a hand" yourself or are you in contact with his shrink?

Whats so wrong with Mark as the coach?

He has a five year plan to turn thing around, so the sooner he gets a two year contract extension the better for his plan to work.

But there must be more pain, so don't worry if the MFC is last on the ladder next year or this one, as it will be character building or so I been told.

His new game plan is revolutionary, so its easy to explain why no one else really understands it. What I can determine so far about the plan is that the MFC needs to gets smashed in the first half of the game to allow the opponents time to lower their guard thus allowing the MFC time in the second have to win the game. Pity the team does not have the fitness, mental hardness or players to achieve the plan.

It is great to hear that the footy department is in such a state no one is accountable for anything which is perfect for this game plan. But what is need is another level of bureaucracy so there no chance of anyone being at fault if the teams performance continues to decline.

But to be sure that MFC members and supporters don't get too upset with the on field results, the implementation of useless and meaningless statistic is essential. Whatever happens never actual refer to the final scores as it is not that helpful to the game plan and recruiting policy of the Club. The final score is not important anyway as its all about the word DEVELOPMENT.

Its extremely important that no one says I when it comes to the on field performance unless there is an unexpected win, what ever happens always say we when talking about loses, constantly quote meaningless stats when ever possible and tell everyone how few games the team have played. If a player gets to play too many AFL games get rid of them.

It may appear that the MFC made the wrong decision to recruit Mark as his game plan was never going to work with the players the Club had at the time. But with a rapid culling of the players list this shortfall can be over come within the next 5 to 10 years.

Mark has so much more to achieve at the Club and this season will continue to break many previous held records, surely the 186 losing score will be one of them,

Finally its only those supporters without true faith in the direct the previous CEO, President, Board and Coach is taking the MFC, that believe the Club is in trouble as its is actually where they planned it to be. If only these people could show more faith and forget about whats actually happening during the actual games, the MFC will be great again.

The reality is that nobody is suggesting a genuine MfC Super-Hero! Ox I don't consider has what it takes to run any organisation (otherwise he would of already done it), Biffen's suggestion of Julian Knight I take even less seriously and Eddie McGuire would have trouble transfusing his black and white blood for red and blue. Personally, I think anyone who is so willing to run down Kennett should at least put up their alternative with succinct reasons!

There are pros and cons for Kennett, and if asked to vote, my initial thought would be I would vote him in.

But after further consideration, the biggest concern I see is not the foot in mouth issues he is famous for, the arrogance, or the self promotion.

But more if in 3, 4, or 5 years down the track, if he can't make it work, we then have an outspoken non Melbourne president coming out telling the world there is no other choice, the club must merge.

And make no mistake about it, Jeff's only interest is self interest....................if he couldn't make it work, he would send the club to oblivion to protect his reputation.

He's too loose, we're too vulnerable, and the risk isn't worth taking.

Kennett has already said he sees it as a management position. He loves a challenge and there's none bigger in footy. I can't quite understand the angst. We're rock bottom and have been handed a jackhammer.

Coaches take on different clubs. Jackson was passionate about Essendon. Arocca loved the pies. All Kennett needs to be is passionate about this challenge and the club succeeding. Once he becomes invested in our progress there will be more than enough passion about our performances.

There's no way he'll try to merge the club as it's the polar opposite of what he's trying to deliver, i.e. a strong MFC.

I really can't see why long suffering supporters wouldn't embrace this idea.

History shows that in tough and desperate times, people make some bad decisions when electing leaders. Some of the worst dictators the world's known were elected or came into power with popular support in the wake of the Great Depression of the last century on the back of replacing supposedly incompetent or failed regimes.

Whether or not you think Gutnick was a good or bad leader or what he did was right (he believed it to be good governance to reveal salary cap breaches and minimise the extent of the sanction), the people of this club then went out and elected Szondy.

I don't believe that Kennett (a man who, when questioned, didn't know the club song) is a realistic candidate but our greatest fear should be that these latest rumblings might see the emergence of another group of people of the ilk of the Szondy regime which left tax bills unpaid in a cupboard and the club chairman walked out without facing the members at an AGM. That's governance?

Can we see worse than what we have now? We've had them.

I am in my 30th consecutive year of membership. Having had business dealings with Kennett under no circumstances would I renew my membership in 2014 if he was president. I would still attend games to support the players but I would not support the Club if he was president.

I hate comments like the one you're referring to. It's so easy to anonymously pot a bloke like she did without anyone being able to verify the information. If I had the same types of experiences I may express reservations, but I wouldn't do it in the fashion the poster did. Although you'll always get others "liking" such comments because it merely endorses their own ill-informed view. Imo, all of the views about Kennett are either biased or ill-informed. Naturally, including mine.
