There's your prestia trade, with a sweetener of course (our way)

If chips hearts gone, let him go while there's some value, rotting for a year in 14 will get us nothing in return

he will go if Neeld is still coach

he will stay if we hire a gun coach, hopefully

God you are soooooooooooooopo positive, Hoges. Just what we need when we are at our lowest.

I think it is.

But his onfield attitude has been pretty appalling in the first 5 or so rounds of this year - contrast it with the effort and leadership Garland has displayed.

Really, that duo should be our defensive lynchpins for the next decade or so.

If we lose Chip, we will have no one in the back half of his sheer size and ability. It would be a huge blow.

The Scum article basically intimated we would lose him for nada at the end of 2014 - I thought that if he was made an offer we could match it as he's a RFA, and thus he had to stay?

Sure hope so, as I would imagine we will have a lot of salary cap space.

Well that sweetener can be O'Meara if they want Frawley.

Prestia's out of contract so regardless of Frawley, we should go after him in the PSD with a big frontoladed price on his head.

To be honest, it wouldn't be the end of the world. McDonald, Garland and Sellar are all capable (or better) defenders, and as long as we traded Frawley this year, we would get some pretty good compensation. Our defence and forward lines are both pretty much ready to roll, and losing Frawley could net us two excellent young midfielders.

I don't know if I'd willingly do it, but if he wants to leave I think we could swing it so that it isn't the end of the world.

Isn't it illegal for clubs to try and poach players in contract??

WTF has Dimwit created with his Suns and GWS monster. Rules subverted. Insane money being offered around.

What a mess this will become if its a free for all.

Mate! You sure about that? Do you REALLY want them to RESIGN? (That is, leave...??)

Sure you don't mean RE-SIGN??

(That magic little hyphen kinda makes a world of difference between staying or leaving! Gotta love the English language! LOL)

You've gotta be joking - none of Garland, McDonald or Sellar (Sellar FFS!!!) can hold a candle to Frawley. He is the best defender we've had in at least the last quarter if a century and probably half a century. He's better than Danny Hughes, Ingerson and Shanahan no-one else even comes close (although we have had such prodigies as big Al Nicholson, Phil Gilbert and Damien Gaspar).

Where did I say they were better than Frawley? Regardless, to call him the best defender in fifty years on the back of one All-Australian year is astoundingly poor judgment. This is a man who can't even be bothered holding his hands in the air when standing the mark.

The "rebuild" gets longer and longer every time Melbourne lose talented senior players.

This.

I understand the "not the end of the world" outlook, but anyone who thinks our quality KPP are expendable is delusional.

We NEED Frawley. Why isn't this blatantly obvious to every MFC supporter?!

I think it is blatantly obvious, but if he wants to go - then it's best we let him this year, instead of next year.

But as it stands at the moment, Frawley is probably our most important player.

I expect to see this type of article written about every one of our players who meets the following criteria;

  • Is a good player
  • has less than 2 years left on their current contract

Apart from Scully & Rivers, i think the club has been able to retain the players that they have wanted to retain in recent times. However Frawley, Watts & Sylvia are very important to our list and i see getting all 3 of these guys to recomit will be a challenge.

Aaron Davey has served the club well, and whilst i dont think we should offer him a large $$ contract or a long contract extension, if he keeps up the current form i dont see why we couldnt offer him a year by year type thing. After all we were happy enough to be a retirement home for Rodan....

You have been watching the games right, funniest thing I've read about Chip's attitude, or watching through the bottom of a glass like some others on here

Not really, it just shows how poor our KP defenders have been. You tell me who has been better?

Frawley has added to the poisonous culture we have. The guy is a guerrilla, he is quick and can take a good intercept mark but conversely he is one of the dumbest players we have which is seen through his decision making, awareness and the way he plays football. The guy has zero leadership. Every time one of our backmen kicks a goal when we are 50 points down I can see him joking and laughing with his team mate.

If anyone on our team 'goes through the motions' on the footy field, it's Frawley. There is no intensity from him and we need a hell of a lot more out of someone of his physical stature. He should be directing, instructing, yelling, encouraging, getting physical every single time he steps on to the field. He doesn't. He just goes through the motions of playing footy. It's his stupidity that kills him.

People are still concerned cause he had an AA year and we don't have an immediate replacement but if we could trade for a gun mid, I'd do it.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
