better effort but i refuse to be happy just cos they competed..

and i refuse to accept another 3-5 years of "be happy that theh tried cos they are young" from the coach..

6. Terlich (21 touches (8 contested), 7 marks, 10 tackles, great pick up for this club, best game by a country mile)

5. N Jones (I genuinely love this man)

4. Garland (ditto)

3. Magner (welcome back)

2. Frawley (massive first quarter that set the tone and did well on that rough headed ranga as usual)

1. Davey (mixed bag but his skills are sublime and showed flashes of his electric best)

6 - Davey ( creative and sublime disposal )

5 - Frawley ( loves the Riewoldt contest , and held his own despite the regularity of entry)

4 - Dunn ( good at both ends , and his kicking to advantage was noted )

3 - Howe ( excellent with the ball, but I wish he'd get it more)

2 - Terlich ( sees ball and gets it )

1 - Magner ( an encouraging return )

6 - Terlich - worked really hard

5 - Magner - made a difference out of the middle

4 - N Jones - as usual

3 - Garland - played well

2 - Jamar - his best game for the year, showed good aggression.

1 - Davey - kicking skills were impressive.

Much better performance by the team and we didn't give up - some positive signs. You're always going to have injuries but our outs really hurt us. Ellis was damaging for them but otherwise, our match-ups worked quite well. Need to back it up next week.

6. Garland ( looked a class above his opposition at times )

5. Frawley ( looked somewhere near his best form, some good attacking runs)

4. N.jones ( always gives his heart and soul )

3. Dawes ( worked hard, good target could easily have kicked 4-5

2. Davey ( his skills are fantastic, turned back the clock )

1. Jamar ( i thought he dominated his opponents in the ruck and it helped keep us in the game )

Frawley always gets up against good ol' Mr Punt Road Jack Riewoldt. I love their contest, every time these two teams play.

Trade Frawley.

1. Davey (was everywhere today and realy think that his most damaging position is that rebounding spot (defensive wing to back flank) we need someone to create play from there)

2. Garland (Really finding composure and confidence)

3. Terlich (Really playing a role in the team - similar to Matty Whelan?)

4. M Jones (Just is playing like a miny N Jones - love his composure in congestion and one of the few you won't see handballing to a player in a worse position)

5. Dawes (Massive presence, made me have no dought that he is a leader and loved when he applauded one of the center clerances and then the whole team applauded it)

6. Dunn (Probably the most underated player on here at the moment - is defensive but then also has the ability/confidence to drift off his man and do damage)

Just to tough to pick!

Would have had Dawes up near the top if it wasn't for his 3rd quarter

And where do you get them?

They are just gifs brother, and they can be found throughout the world wide web.

When you find one you just post it's url into the 'image' button on the reply/post dashboard and voila!

I went a bit gif crazy a little while ago and after a few D'landerds shared their distaste in so many being posted, i now save them for when my posts require a visual cue to get my point across.

6. Garland (after a slowish start, is having possibly his best year. Today there was a touch of class in a lot of his work.)

5. Terlich (always hard at it, and today showed good composure with the ball. Has been an excellent pick up)

4. Davey (shades of the old Aaron ...... great to see)

3. Frawley (same as Davey)

2. N. Jones (typical Jonesy)

1. Dawes (great effort considering he is so under-done. Can't wait to see him in tandem with Mitch)

Special mentions to Magner, Howe and M. Jones. What a pleasure it is to have a couple of special mentions .... for the right reasons.

6. N Jones. (I think I forgot how gutsy this bloke is amongst all the turmoil we've witnessed of late. Not his best game but he sure fights hard for the guernsey. Even my Tiger buddy couldn't believe we didn't make him Captain after witnessing that 1st half).

5. Terlich (stopped the Tigers early, created some run & options/overlap. Pushed hard to defend/find his opponent even up the ground/tackled well. For a handfull of games he's an exciting prospect & a shining light).

4. Garland. (Played small for most of the match. Refused to lay down and took the game and his opponent on. Needs to work harder at closing down space when the opposition start chipping it around)

3. Davey. (The only classy consistant ball user in the team at present. Found space well and chose most outlet/lead up options with the maturity and finish of old. Chased well until the last quarter. Subbing late in the 3rd might be the go here)

2. Magner (hardness and ability to stay in the contest for approx 3 quarters was impressive. Hacks the ball forward a little too often instead of looking for the quick outlet handball or lowering the eyes on occasions. Did hit 1 or 2 lead up targets though which is better than none. One fumbled clanger handball receive in the 3rd cost us a turnover goal to King but didnt notice too many other clangers. Nice 1st up game after such a long stint out.)

1. Jamar. (Toiled hard and got to a few more contests today. A few nice palms to our advantage too. Positioned himself well as an outlier during the press and marked well. Kicking is still pretty ugly though. I would be working hard to get Davey and Byrnes more often at the drop to give off and use the ball i50 more wisely/accurately. I think the Spencer experiment is over in the short term but at least having him hanging about at Casey turns the wick up a little on the Rush. Appears to be working).

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
