If we are playing an intraclub game, do we combine this with Casey Scorpions, since we don't have 44 players on the track to form two teams? How does it work?

I think they pick players from the crowd.

Last year they didn't only Melbourne listed players, they reduced the numbers per side. This year we have a very healthy list, if we stay that way the only players that won't be ready to play is Trengove, Clark and Gawn. Even Hogan trained with the main group today.

MIght be like the 8 period game last year with players swapping teams and not a full compliment of 22 a side. More about getting a feel for match conditions before the NAB cup which are in essence practice games.

I'm sure they'll get a massive crowd out there, given that it's during business hours ...
Yes they really should be conducting training and intra-clubs at a time that is suitable to us. Maybe 7pm when everyone has gotten home and had their din-dins.

St Kilda are having their hit out on a Saturday morning so every man and his dog can watch it. Plus a great opportunity to sell memberships.

I reckon 9:00 on a Friday morning in East Cranbourne is a crap time, for those that want to actually attend.

Something else we should keep an eye out for is any kind of hitout against Collingwood. They did it last year - only for players under 25 or something - and there was talk at the time that it could become a regular part of the pre-season buildup.

I seem to recall that last year it wasn't announced anywhere, so perhaps keep our ears open.

Yes, much like Geelong and North have collaborated to do a couple of times this preseason.

Not the worst idea.

Once again they set things up to avoid selling memberships or letting the fans have a look at their team working. Whoever schedules these things for the club needs to taken out behind the change rooms and shot.

Are you serious?

I'm glad they set things up to suit the football dept and them alone.

We're all about getting more wins.

When the wins come, the members will increase in accordance.

If you're that desperate to see the match, take the day off work.

I live 5 mins from Casey so it doesnt bother me, but you would think that the brain fart that organised it would move it a day forward then maybe a few hundred people would turn up, give the fans something to watch, maybe see some progress, most people cant attend training.

I'm fortunate enough to have some business interests in the Cranbourne area so I don't even have to take the day off work. I just need to tailor some appointments around the time of the game and get down there on the day.

I would think that the FD has worked out their schedule for the intraclub game in line with the start of our NAB Cup campaign which comes seven days later.

That's the nature of sports science these days.

Will try and get down to that. I went a couple of years ago and it was well worth it.

WJ your use of simple logic is frankly disconcerting.

I really enjoyed it in 2010 and most of 2011 up until players changed teams in the third quarter. From what I heard 2012 was a calamity with 17 3-minute quarters and trees and cones on the field or something

I really think playing a proper match is a great event for the club, the turnout and the atmosphere are great and it has previously got me pumped about the season after seeing all the players in action

Friday the 15th at 10am at Casey Fields.

Not sure how the format will be. Last year it was 8, 8 minute quarters from memory, certainly different.....

Hopefully it's more a proper match this year.

What, we were experimenting in the intra club match too? Bloody hell, Caro will now start reporting that we were practicing how to experiment in game-like conditions.

Maths doesn't seem to be our strong point on Demonland. Eight quarters? Seventeen quarters?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
