Great report FNQ thanks

Though some will still be concerned by lack of detail :-) notably

"Dave Misson arrived with his team at about 0935 and they commenced the set-up of some different training areas designated by small coloured markers. " You didn't say how many markers and what colour they were.

Otherwise a great report

I would implore all those discussing Spencers lack of technique in regard to his kicking to review some ealry footage of Dean Cox, absolutley terrible and couldn't get a kick in a street fight.

Cox had great heart and work ethic which is the main reason he got himself to where he is

So whilst I'm not saying Spencer will end up being a 4 time All Australian Ruckman, very early to call on where he will end up but he obviously has the work ethic given the size he is putting on

you're not the only one mate!

Cheers for the detailed report FNQ! Your blood is worth bottling.

Fantastic reporting - thanks so much guys.

Footnote: This is a minor irritant but pursuant to another thread, it's Clark and Missen (not Clarke and Mission).

Great work FNQ. Please don't break DL hearts with some inside tanking info now that you have more than proved you're bona fide demon (joking)

Thanks everyone for the fantastic reports, very much appreciated!

Quick question, would we be paying the umpires to appear at todays training session? Or would it be an edict from

the umpires coaches to get out there at a club to 'train' at the umpiring discplines rather than their fitness base?

Not sure whether or not it's the best off-season we've (ever) had, but definitely the best training reports of the off-season we've ever had.

Impressive work from all who contributed ... not just the players stepping up.

There's always an exception to the rule mate, but for every Cox there are 10 Paul Johnson's.

Spencer's been in the system now for 4-5 years. At what point do you stop using the same old dean cox example and start to question how much longer this project runs? After all, when you get into a premiership window you can always take a Ben Hudson very cheaply as back up. It just doesn't seem worth a six year investment to get, best case, a handy back up ruck.

Terrific stuff from everyone and a particular thank you to FNQ for spending 2 mornings of his trip down south attending training and compiling those great reports.

The Dees are moving on to the NT in the next week or so. I don't suppose FNQ has the time to make the short hop over to Darwin for a few days?

Thankyou to all. Reading these reports feels like winning a game. Its sad that this time of year is my favourite come the last many seasons. Every player is a champ, and trains like one. Every recruit is an Ablett in waiting.

GO DEES

He's been in the system for 4 years, the first 2 as a rookie. Due mainly to injuries, he has played just 16 games, the last occurring just as he was starting to show some real form and consistency. Since his return this year he has been steadily improving and it would seem by all reports that he is really taking to the Neeld training regime and starting to show results. I believe we should persevere with him.

As do the FD. We've just had a major clearout ... yet the pencil holds his spot. For a (just) 23 year old ruck, coming along nicely I would have thought.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
