Gold Coast would be kicking themselves that they selected Martin over Hogan.

I remember being astounded why a team with so many young gun midfielders with first choice in the mini draft, then went for an outside midfielder instead of a possible gun power forward. defied logic.

I'm still scared of (potentially) losing the next Wayne Carey to Freo.

Chin up big guy. He loves being a Dee.

It may be an interesting scenario if he gets the second year blues.

*Third

But I get your point.

...and I am not worried...

I can see a Dangerfield type scenario occurring.

Sign until he is 24/25 for very nice coin at Melbourne.

Then go home for the rest of his career under free agency.

I'm hoping to look back in 4 years time and thinking how lucky we were to get him for pick 13.

You can look back next year. Hopefully he and the club have extended his contract for life.

He will be 22 when his OOC with 4 years under his belt.

If his next contracts extends that by the mooted 6 years or even if we taking the next 2 into account - he will be 26 and OOC.

And he will be a FA, not that it really matters these days.

But honestly, would a good club be so constantly worried about him leaving?

I know we are not a good club yet, but don't we wish to be?

Former West Coast players have publicly stated that the shocking plane travel every second week shortened careers. Why would a big tall with a history of back issues want to potentially shorten his career.

He may leave the Dees, but imo it won't be to go home to WA.

He may leave the Dees..

If you ever had a 'tipping point' PD - which I never thought you'd reach anyway - this could be it.

So you thought 24.8 cm was the wingspan of a grown man, let alone a KP footballer, and also thought that'd be a great reach for a boxer?

This is the post we should have bumped the thread with. LOL. Double LOL at the other guy getting all sooky about his embarrassing error.

His Watts one is better. I've bolded my favourite lines.

Keep in mind while reading that he now only refers to Watts as "tippy toes".

With the way Watts' every move is scrutinised and analysed he must at times feel like Truman Burbank.

Watts is a very smart footballer. Some players look for body contact all the time and others will avoid it if it's advantageous to do so. Watts will go if it's his turn and I've not seen him avoid one contest that he really had to endure, but I have seen him avoid contests that other players wouldn't have because it was the sensible option. Whether that has involved running around a player giving a shepherd or deliberately keeping his feet so as to not rule himself out of the next contest. He's not the type to knock blokes over just to make a statement - yet.

How many guys at his height have such agility, pace, and skills on either side of their body. Plus a real footy brain. He's something special is young Jack, but the nuffies on here have to be a little more patient while Truman develops into what is going to be an imposing physique.

Some of these threads will be fun to bump in a few years.

Good to see he's hitched his wagon onto someone a lot sturdier and safer this time.

(Sorry PD. You know I love your work.)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
