Where the hell are these stories comming from....If there is a leak at the footy club it should be stopped post haste....or is it just the media looking for something to write or fill up a bit of time on a slow news day.....Why is there no bits of information comming from other clubs????....

Well i know the bit about the 'vibe' because the player said it to me,of course it may just his personal feeling ..what do you think? Its interesting ( to me at least) that the Tiges have just cut 6(?) ..bang...while at MFC it seems to be a pretty dirty process of 'retirements' trade request stories, rumour and innuendo and thus far the huge cull hasnt occured. I can't see how Neeld is in charge of this process myself. Just an observation from the outside of course

Richmond and the other teams so far have cut rookies and spuds. We are dealing with former club leaders, champions and with Aaron a contracted player. It's not theway to go to chuck these guys out on their ears a-la Junior. If they are getting honest feedback as the finish for the year and it comes out in the press then why would we care? We should be glad they know what we've come to know during the year i.e. they're not up to it?

IRW, of course Neeeld is in charge of the process, who else would be? Or are you inimtaing he doesn't know what he's doing? We'll see. NOt covinced he will be THE coach but I'm starting to believe in his contribution to the list management.

The assumption that we are throwing these players out and being disrespectful is a joke. Do you think Aaron thinks his season was what we expect from a senior player? Respect would be the frank conversation where Davey would have been advised that his body and form of this season would see him languishing at Casey all of 2013. This is not throwing them out this is being honest. Davey has provided many fantastic MFC memories but you need to know when your time is up.

Agree. I would also ask, do we think Aaron would be happy to repeat this season or worse. He is proud and respect would lean to leaving a good memory of his time at the club, not playing at Casey or sitting in the stands the entire season. I could see him as an assistant coach/mentor for a couple of years and we could settle part of his contract now and the rest of it over a couple of years while he gets experience in coaching, to help him set up the rest of his life. That way he would be fully paid, have a job and be treated respectfully.

8 or so years service from a rookie pick - we did alright.

Sure, he's struggled with form/injury, but he sure gave us some good memories and service over the years. He brought people to games, something we need right now unfortunately.

Well said, I find the keyboard heroes on here love nothing better than kicking someone when they are down, Aaron Davey has been a great player for MFC over the last few years, he deserves a lot better than some of the posts on this topic, they should be ashamed of yourselves, but I doubt they are.... moving on to the next target!!!!!

Fair enough with your observation about the Richmond cull and I have no doubt that the coach is in charge of footy matters. I guess I was thinking the 'leaks' if thats what they are, and the innuendo suggest Neeld hasnt yet completly stamped his authority on tbe playing group and the slightly messy way things find their way into the press suggests the back room isnt completely bedded down yet either Edited by IRW

Clubs seem to be making majority of their delistings after their respective B and F's Counts are done and dusted, come this friday morning, we might know who's gone and who's staying.

another sensible and logical post on these boards....whats this forum coming to ?

The Question the club must ask is "Can Aaron play anywhere near the standard that was shown on the weekend?"

i think we all can answer that...

Unless your have no value or want to leave the club you are at, most clubs will hold players until trading month is concluded.

Yes, some in their excitement are neglecting to remember that just because our seasons ended there are others whos hasnt. We're still weeks away from the 'real' week of trade even though there is undoubtedly some back room shenanigans already under way.

it does pay to keep some of your powder dry after all.

People should just cool it.

He has been a good servant of the club and I have not heard good things about his foot.

Let's not dance on graves - it says more about the dancer than the name on the tombstone.

I suspect he knows next year will be his last at melbourne and therefore the AFL if he stays put regardless of his form. He may be thinking if he jumps now he might get 2 years somewhere else and at the very least put food on the table by kicking a footy for at least 1 more year. I reckon the Cameron Bruce scenario was a bit the same (although OOC)

He might get a rude suprise though to find there aren't many suitors.

Seems to be an MFCSS favourite past time.

How do we know this hasn't been made up? The media are experts were creating something completely out of nothing, plus the VFL commentators got it completely wrong today as it's never been suggested Cook or Gysberts have been delisted. Cook was only a possibility after a "meeting" with Neeld while there is interest from Geelong in Gysberts and nothing more than that as Gysberts is still under contract. Mountain out of a mole hill today really.

We didn't offer Cloke a 7 yr deal. In fact we didn't want him at all according to Neeld. Also Cook & Gysberts aren't being delisted according to Neeld.

Its silly season. Ignore 90% of what you here.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
