Morton's horrible turnovers are made more infuriating by him still refusing to put his head over the ball and tackling like a wet salmon.

The way i see it is we have a few soft skillful players mixed with a few hard players lacking skill.

A 44 point loss I would have taken in a heartbeat when it was 4 - 56. Almost respectable and a fair reflection of where both teams are at.

Watts took a backward step today

Sad to see Greens kicking for goal

Positives? Our highest score for the season against a premiership favourite.

People who think Tapscott's bump on Fasolo and then push of Maxwell into our bench were 'tough' or 'passionate' or whatnot, are fools. They were both crude, and if a Collingwood player had done that to one of our players, we'd all be screaming for his head.

Tapscott's bump on Fasolo was late and unwarranted. Pushing Maxwell into our bench well after he'd gone out of bounds was just ridiculous.

There's passion and intensity, but then there's just misplaced thuggery.

Watts took a backward step today

Utter rubbish. He was fine.

Game wasn't on Australia Network so had to follow on the internet. Seems every time Jack Watts gets a boost in the media he plays poorly in the next game. Maybe better to leave him out of the interview stuff for a while, until he can play more than one blinder in a row.

As for the others...?

just saw the post above this saying he was okay - but 16 disposals sounds a bit low.

So hard not being able to see the game - had to watch Playschool and learning to weave Solomon Mats instead!

Morton was a long way short of our worst today.

Actually early on he did some really good long passes. It's his short kicks that come undone.

No, they put some work into him because he has been damaging the last 3 weeks. This is a great learning experience for him and he still played a good game for us considering how we were crunched out of the middle and the amount of ball coming in.

Speaking of that, Frawley was well and truly our best today beating Cloke with the amount of ball and quality of ball coming in.

Clarke and Howe also good.

Jones, Grimes whilst they worked hard were well beaten in the middle today.

Absolutely, categorically, correct that the game plan has changed, and for the better - now, time to put massive work into the skill levels required to turn the changes into success!

WHy knock Tappy?

That was our enemy out there today we were playing-the richest ,most arrogant ,corrupt and powerful club in the land .

I dont care if Tappy breaks jaws.

It is not a kindy out there .

It's rough and tough and the big boys cheat, cheat and cheat their way to victory and the umpires would like to be their mate so they ignore it .

FFS harden up you hand -wringers .

Tapscott was superb and direct at the ball .

Would you want to play on him or near him?

The answer is clearly no .

On the same team?

Any day .

Fine... but I don't want to hear a peep out of you when one of our players gets wiped out by a similarly "passionate" piece of play from an opponent.

Lol so did I- and he used to harrass me on Twitter

A bit of composure and the kid will be a gem

A bit of composure on the Facebook and he might find a missus!

Mate its 2012, you dont go out to intentionally injure any player, and if thats what you think well then you are still stuck in the 80's, terribly poor form.

Be hard, be tough but dont be a tool.......Tapscott was crossing the line today and many neutral commentators thought he showed poor form. I agree with them.

One of our players finally shows a bit of mongrel after decades of insipid pansies and you want to pot him? Grow a spine and back your players FFS. I'll take one Tapscott over 100 Morton's, Sylvias, Jamars, Daveys etc

Thanks for coming over the top with the elbow there doctor .

Some of our supporters should be knitting themselves some balls in the commentary box with Bruce .

It's a rough tough world out there and I like the fact that that Tappy understands the very basic principles of the game and makes fear his ally .

Can't believe people are hammering Watts again tonight.

He was dam solid today. Did you notice how much of the ground he covered today??

As I said I did not see the game, but I did see some highlights on the Australia Network Grandstand, including Tappie's little touch and an attempted tackle from Watts that went wrong and he seemed to pull out. It would be easy from seeing such a thing to think he was soft. But others who saw more of the game might have a more positive viewpoint of Jack's effort throughout the whole match.

As for Tapscott, it reminded me of the one and only Rodney Grinter's grunt - which can't be too much of a bad thing !

Tapscott's bump may have been crude - but did Fasolo deserve a 100 metre penalty for it?

Love Tappys mongrel streak.

Just needs to be a little more subtle thats all.

It was because Garland thought it would be a good idea to tackle the player who was running down the ground to take the fifty metre penalty, hence there was a penalty for that as well.

That whole passage of play was a mess. The umpire was derelict in his duty by not adequately informing the players that a fifty had been awarded. I reckon the Collingwood bloke thought he could take advantage and Garland evedently fell into the trap.

Horriffic umpiring, not because of the decisions (of which there were quite a few crappy ones today), but because of his inability to do his job and ACTUALLY LET THE PLAYERS KNOW WHAT HIS DECISION WAS!!!

I'll be interested to see on the replay why he got two 50's? The umps just deciding to make rules up on the go now or did something else happen off the ball?

EDIT: just saw the above another rubbish decision - I don't want to harp on it and will never blame the umps for a loss but they were diabolical today, just decision after decision (or non-decision) for the whole game. And don't expect the "expert" commentators to make mention of any of it, one instance Maxwell blocks Green from the marking contest well and truly off the ball (at least 10 metres if not more) and the commentators go on about howe it was a great block by Maxwell!!! Yeah it was great, pity it's also illegal and he should've had a free paid against him.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
