  1. See its been bumped from the Australia+ international satellite TV program schedule. Hope it's just a mistake.
  2. Great post. I am a bit older than you, but remember those days with great fondness. Is there a new Rodney Grinter, Stephen Stretch, Jimma, Garry Lyon or Todd Viney? Who knows ? We have just started on this new road and have to believe in what is being done and not give up hope. GO DEES!
  3. Today, my son took his 6 year old son to the match (if you could call it that). It was his first live game of AFL. Having recently joined Auskick, my grandson is beginning to take an interest in footy, but is yet to really settle on who to barrack for. Of course, I thought and hoped he would follow the Dees, until today. However, from the Skype call I received from them during the early part of the 4th quarter, I doubt very much that will happen. All I can say is, "I do understand". Who would want to put someone so young through an unnecessary lifetime of pain, with such little pleasure ? I live in Thailand and had to suffer the match on TV. Perhaps just as well I was not there. Today I felt ashamed and foolish for having followed Melbourne for more than 50 years.
  4. Why drag up dirty old history like this now? Most of us understand the club is in a diabolic situation, but steps are at last being taken to try and get out of it. So, what point is the Hun trying to make, talking about old issues mainly concerning former club management? Or is it that this is the last week of the free subscription before even more of its content goes behind the paywall and so they need to drum up all the rubbish they can, to keep us hooked on the line ? Remember this is News Limited and the ringmaster (Rupert) has been in town.
  5. Couldn't agree more WJ and Soxy. This Healy was a Swan, more than a Demon. I get the impression listening to his recent calls during Melbourne games, he has an agenda of his own. Can't quite put my finger on it. To me this article just reinforces my belief. Maybe he thinks he can save the club ? I also hope his brother is a loyal Demon.
  6. Disgusting. I have never seen such a terrible display from our club. There are some good players in this team, but they are failing so badly, as a team. Freo show us up even more than most, because they play as a team, not a few talented individuals who are forced to compromise their owns skills, and play as individuals in a rabble called the Melbourne Football team. Today's match is showing it is time to call an end to the latest experiment - meaning Mark Neeld must do the right thing (if he is not forced to by others) and step down immediately,as head coach. He has tried, but it seems failed. More,he has failed to such an extent, the club can no longer stand by while he develops and brings players on. In this day and age no one has the luxury of the sort of time frame he needs. Thank you Mark, but it's time for us all to move on.
  7. As a 50 years + demon supporter I am starting to believe "enough is enough". Another failed experiment. Time to move on - but to where ?
  8. I was having a problem with my password not being accepted. Therefore I requested to receive a changed/new password by email me to reset. I was able to successfully login and reset to the passowrd provided in this mail. However after logging in, when I try to change this password - after completing the details it will not let me and I receive a series of error prompts instead. Could you please look inot this and let me know what needs to be done so I can change my passoword. Thanks
  9. Wish other passionate Dees had the same clear thinking abilities as you do. Well written.
  10. If some of the posters could get over the emotion of the last 2 weeks and look at what is trying to be achieved, they might be able to sleep a little better. The club is now in the middle of a crisis as bad as any we've faced since Barrassi going to Carlton and the sacking of Norm Smith. As was mentioned on the Outsiders this morning there is perhaps one "white knight" but he is unwilling to commit to the club in a more meaningful way than riding in for a few months and then trots off again to his other interests. That sort of "saviour" is not going to help us out of another fine mess. So, until there is a proper and meaningful commitment from either a strong individual or strong group with the club's best interests in mind, we have to support what we have for now. Any suggestions ? Or does everybody just take cheap pot shots at 3 very obvious targets ?
  11. The football (soccer) celebrety game my wife is watching on Thai TV has better players than that bunch of cattle. Go Dees and don't forget to close the door behind you!
  12. Get you bands correct. "Eagle Rock" was Daddy Cool - Ross Wilson was in both. I should know - I clapped hands on "Eagle Rock" !!! ...I'm the one out of time. I also sang in the chorus for Rick Springfiled's "Speak To The Sky"...that might be a good inspirational song ????? Perhaps not. What about "We Can't Be Beaten"? There again we know that's not true either... Maybe we stick with Grand Old Flag...for running out and limping off ?
  13. Amazing so many can't see that...
  14. Hey Old Dee, there's not so many of us left from the glorious 1964. As a young 17 year old in the crowd that day, and having not lived in Melbourne since 1990, my spirit has not always been that of a dedicated supporter. However, I really believe the shock to the system created by the turmoil of the last few years and the way the team is being run now, have all set us on a path which will give us at least a couple more dates to add to that wonderful day in 1964. I can almost see it now with the siren about to go : Jack Watts running off the back line, playing out of position and thumping through a perfect goal, as we once again go on to smash the Maggies for just a few points !!! The difference is, this time we will back it up again the following year, against Carlton and then the next against .... Go Dees 2013 and beyond!!
  15. I'm in Thailand - err, as my name suggests - and after a bit of messing around I managed to watch the last couple of minutes of the Norf game and all the Tiges game through the AFLtv website. I see most games via the Australia Network (ABC) and so should you be able to do nowadays in Burma, if you have a dish ? But the they don't start carrying games until the weekend after next - then about 6-8 per week in the real season. Anyway, back to the game. There were several positives tonight. Others have gone into them in more detail. Mark Neeld is right in not making statements about how much we will improve, but there were definite signs that we are developing in a positive way. With such a different approach to how we want to play and with so many new players things might take a bit of time to gel (hopefully not much more than 6-8 real games). But, what I saw tonight makes me feel I will get value for money from signing up again for another year. GO DEES!!
