I don't think we can tell any more how they will play from just looking who is listed on the team sheet. What matters is what attitude those names bring to the game over 4 quarters. So much of our performance seems to come down to tenacity, attack on the game, gritted teeth, gut running, wild-eyed pursuits and tackling, hunger for the ball, running to space to give a team mate a kicking or handballing option, looking up quickly when we've go the ball to assess the options and finding the best one, honouring the leads into space, talking to a teammate, slapping him on the back or pulling him into line......

Which part of the roller coaster ride will we be on in any given weekend? I can't tell that any more from a team list.

I think Collingwood may use us to prove a point. We are one of the few sides to have troubled them last year, and they will look to stamp their authority on this one. I don't think we stand a chance of winning, but we can make it a close game if we play with the same attitude we showed tonight.

FFS... we man up well on them, like last year it was just that confidence...last week, yeah 65 at least...Now Imo...maybe, the boys might be back....such a difference tonight...still errors are apparent and could be exposed but hey...Pies so confident, Swan off to do yoga in South America to address his beer gut....Daisey the difference maybe...ya know, but you never know...maybe just maybe.... this is the team that was, the risk taking, down the centre....OH i would love to beat em!!

We got a lot of help tonight that we won't get against the Pies. I think it'll be, at best, a bit like the Adelaide game. We could beat them confidently for 90 minutes, and all they need to do is have Shaw, Daisy, Krakouer, Beams, Dawes, Didak, Sidebottom or Embullbummery suddenly explode and it's all over. Let's be honest though... it'll probably be Dick that kicks 4.

I think the Pies will be up for this game, as there has been a fair bit of talk about us playing so well against them, I have a feeling they will want to come out and put that talk to bed.

But sometimes certain teams just play well against other teams. Roos against Demons, Bombers against Saints, Demons against Pies........either team by under 15.

If we play like we did last night we'll give them something to think about. Tom Scully will be better for the run and Malthouse's recent spray wont hurt us. We're a chance.

Collingwood....be afraid, be very afraid.

There's no saying which Melbourne will turn up.

If we play like we did last night, or like we did against Adelaide, it will be a good game, as we do match up well against them.

If we play like we did against Carlton, North, West Coast or Hawthorn, they will smash us to smithereens.

Next Monday will be even better than last night.

90,000 at the G to watch the Dee's win by 30pts.

All the hype will follow, and everyone will be talking us up as contenders. Then we will lose to Freo at home the week after.;)

If we don't get al least 80k It will be a disappointing result.

Up to every MFC supporter to get themselves to this game.

Think we will have a let down after the emotion of this week.

I'm coming from Canberra, as I do every year. Love it!

Same. I might even pull the horns out.

Yeah, I'm not gonna pull the horns out.

Pies should win but I'm predicting the effort from this week (winning contested possessions, hard tackling, second and third efforts) will be followed up, and that's what I am expecting. Could be yet another very close one.

80k?

We aren't quite at the bandwagon stage I am afraid.

They are looking out through the logs, but they are still in the woodwork at this stage...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
