Smoke and mirrors from Neeld, Harrington and young Jack etc.

We are playing politics to warn GCS and GWS that if they nominate Jack Viney to make us have to use Pick 3 then they can have JV  i.e. and miss out on Whitfield, Grundy or Toumpas.

MFC WILL GET JACK VINEY.  IF THEY DON'T, MINE AND MANY OTHER MEMBERSHIPS WILL BURN.

This is a culture destroying call if we don't get Jack.

We have :

1. the son of a champion

2. he wants to play for MFC

3. we have invested 2 years and PR into Jack

4. he is tough, aggressive, physically ready and has the makings of a future STAR

Use Pick 3, if we have to

Low Draft picks are not guaranteed champions. Look at Watts, Morton etc.

If we had Pick 1 we would use it on Viney! That's where we rate him.

Thought the same thing last year and still do. Being BOG in the underage comp as a 17 year old was moderatley impressive. This years lot are a year and other attributes behind.

Listening to Hutchy, Dr Turf and some other bloke this morning they said the following:

They will walk from melbourne to Sydney if the Dees dont take Viney. Everyone in the AFL knows they will take him and Hutchie suggested that Melbourne had over played their hand with this one and were starting to look stupid in similar terms. He said they should just get it done already - make an unofficial deal with gold coast and gws and get the deal done before it causes more damage to our brand....

And they said he was rated by most in the top 5 by most recruiters not 8-10...

If the MFC stuff this up I will end a 50 year association, mostly miserable on my behalf, with brief highlights Re:Flower and the Northy years..This kid means more to the MFC then squabbling about a arbitrary position of 1 -10.

His Brand to the MFC is as important as a sponsor

Melbourne has repeatedly stated they know his worth, meaning yes we will take him first if we have to, but maybe, just maybe we may not therefore creating a very small doubt in the GC's mind. That small doubt in GC's mind will determine if we get three top 5 picks or two, so who wouldnt try to keep that doubt alive until 10:05 Monday morning.

And this just shows what a Spud of a journalist Hutchy really is. The AFL has repeatedly said they will come down like a ton of bricks on anyone making deals about bidding or not bidding on certain players in the Father Son auction. It will be classified as draft tampering and penalties will be harsh. No way in hell is the club going to risk that.

Jack Viney

A man for all seasons it seems

Summer: Ivor Warne Smith/Checker Hughes

Autumn: Ron Barassi

Winter: Norm Smith

Spring: Robert Flower

Pick whilst still fresh and in harvest!! Methinks

Fence!

If GWS or GC bid for Viney..... MFC will pass.... Pick 2 & 3 in this years draft is to good to pass up..... MFC want Grundy, as a replacement for Martin..... I'm shattered because I was looking forward to watching young Viney next year....

Try re-reading what you have just written. If pick 2 and 3 are as you say too good to pass up in this years draft then what are the chances of gcs 'throwing away' pick 2 on jack, using the assumption that he is not worth it

JV is bona fide top 10, probably top 5 (definitely so to a team lacking ferocious in and under ball extractors). Does it really merit 40 pages of whining that we might not pull off the bargain of the century by getting him in the 2nd round?

Posted

Mate there's 38 pages do you really think I'm going to read them all

I suggest you read at least a couple of them and then you might not be so confused as you claim.

Love the way all these "supporters" here are saying they will burn their membership if we dont take viney

Imo u guys should just fcuk off now as u obviously dont have enough faith in the club and its decisions to be saying things like that. The MFC has an onus to take the best available players at pick 3 + 4.

When our recent top five draft selections have included Morton, Watts and Scully, there is good reason to be sceptical.

Liam Pickering was the "other bloke" on the show.

Pickering was the one who said he would walk from Melbourne to Perth if the Dees did not take JV as FS.

Hutchy had nothing positive (suprise suprise) to say about the Dees and basically said we would go further backwards next year cause we have no leaders or senior players. He questioned why we got SB from the Cats and why we got rid of Moloney, Green, Bruce etc blah blah

Hutchy was pissing all over the Dees and to my suprise Pickering was defending us and said that Hutchy's ears were painted on when he didn't listen to what he was saying.

My opion of Hutchy prior to hearing this was low, now its even lower.

I lol'd.

Really starting to think we will do some deals and all three clubs have played this really well from a 'no underhand deals here' point of view.

Just a vibe I am getting...

Yeah no reason to worry cause our past picks have been outstanding.

One of the things about Viney that impresses me is that, even at under 18 level, where everyone is playing to get themselves drafted, he throws himself into laying a shepherd or creating space for a team mate. This isn't just someone who does the team things because he's told to, this is someone who lives winning. Someone who instinctively plays the game to win. A competitor.

Some people learn to be winners. Others just are. I feel a bit like Ben-Hur speaking about this, but for Viney it is true. He's someone who just finds a way. \

I love it.

Cool story

If anyone wants to burn their membership over who we pick then they should just walk away now.

We will pick who we pick. I don't know why these Viney threads are so big.

Just have faith our boys know what they are doing ffs. We either take him or we don't, and then we get on with it.

I wouldn't take much notice of what Hutchy has to say about the game of football. He was the one that had GC making the 8 this year and us top 4 last year, not a great judge of the game is our Hutchy. The politics of the game and stirring up a bit of trouble is more his go.

These Viney threads are so big because there are usually arguments about what the kid is worth between logical, rational people- and people like you Olisdik

The word I have is that GC Suns don't rate Jack very highly. Won't be nominating him.

You may be right.

Scotty Clayton rated Cale equal no. 1 in his draft year and loves the outside types. Or your source could be dodgy.

agree totally, if they don't have Jack on there list next year they can forget it, will cancel membership

Had faith for a long time and they haven't delivered. They had better pick up Jack.

Hasn't anyone realised that we're bluffing just so the SUNs and GWS don't bid on him?

They're going to take him whereever they have to to get him. We have put to much time into Viney to get him ready for round 1 not to take me.

We would just prefer to take him a pick 20 so we get 3 top picks instead of 2.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
