This is a tough one, but here are my top ten most important MFC players this season.

In order:

1. Frawley

2. Green

3. Jamar

4. Sylvia

5. Davey

6. Grimes

7. Jurrah

8. Morton

9. Garland

10. Scully

* Sylvia keeps coming to mind as the only player who could take the number one mantle from Frawley.

C'mon Col ... time to explode!

EDIT

If we're doing totals I need a proper number 10. Go with Trengove because he'll be up and about early this year.

Good thread. We need to work out the totals at the end.

1. Jamar

2. Frawley

3. Sylvia

4. Davey

5. Jurrah

6. Green

7. Garland

8. Grimes

9. McKenzie

10. Petterd

Based on most important to the side, not best ability.

Grimes' short kicking to a 50/50 contest means he doesn't make my top 8.

Scully, who people criticise as having a poor kick, has an action that will become Elite as early as this season.

jamar #1 on the basis that if we lose him we just do not have a ready made ruck replacement.

No Sylvia?

No. Don't get me wrong, we needs Sylvia to become an A grade star and he was great last year, but THIS YEAR I believe that the 10 I listed are the 10 most important for team structure. Once 3 or 4 of them go down we are in serious strife.

Will have a think about this one.

I'm definitely of the opinion that Jordie Mckenzie will be crucial to our success this year.

8. Jones (people seem to have forgotten how much grunt he gave us last year and how much he had improved on previous years. Those same people also tend to forget that he is now making what I consider a remarkable recovery from what was essentially a very debilitating injury that few players would come back from so quickly - we NEED his G&D and if he can take a similar step up to last season again, he will be very useful)

9. Grimes

10. Bennell (another player people have already written of... again! - his second half of last season showed that he is going to be a very very valuable player for us going ahead. His run and his innate ability to get the ball will prove essential as long as he becomes more consistent)

reading these lists really does highlight the loss of Bruce & Jr, not many players in each list that you can really say are proven over a reasonable period of time

Davey

Frawley

Jamar

Sylvia

Grimes

Jurrah

Trengove

Scully

Garland

If you are saying Proven track record then it is a lot different from potential or most important to the side (in terms of development etc) FWIW I have done it based on potential for 2011

1, Green

2. Davey

3. Jamar

4. Sylvia

5. Frawley

6. Scully

7. Trengove

8. Tapscott (we need to get thru the press)

9. Grimes

=10. Morton (clear the def 50)/Wona (fwd defensive pressure)

If we don't get consistent first use of the ball from the centre bounce we will struggle to win games

If we don't pressure the opposition as they go into their forward 50 then a backline with King Kong and Voldemort

won't stop them kicking goals and we will struggle to win games

If we can't deliver with precision into our forward 50 we will struggle win games

Jurrah in the list because he is Jurrah

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
