Agree wholeheartedly-a great loss to the world let alone to our Board at the MFC. Will be sadly missed. Let's beat Freo for Peter.

I was lucky enough to be in the Change Rooms after the game on Sunday, Peter Szental had made it to the game and was in the rooms after the game. Jim Stynes introduced him and made a great speech about him. He got a thunderous round of applause from everybody there.

Another moment that made me feel proud to be a Melbourne supporter

Yeah, was a sad moment, especially when he got everyone to sing the club song for him.

Gee that's confronting news. Peter, of course, didn't look well... but you could see the light in his eyes when Jimma quietened the room for him.

Peter is being buried as I write this.

He was suffering prostate cancer and went to the game against Essendon on Sunday in a wheelchair. He insisted on being there and it was the last outside activity of his life.

I remember Peter from Melbourne University days when he used to ride around in motor bike wearing a leather jacket. He grew up to be a highly successful businessman and proudly took a role on the new Jimmy Stynes board in 2008. I believe that when the Debt Demolition dinner took place not long after that, Peter gave the highest individual contribution.

His passing is a massive loss to the club and I pass on my condolences to his family.

I don't know much about Peter, but from all reports it sounds like he was a masterstroke and a real gem of a guy.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Wear those black armbands in high regard this weekend, Melbourne!

RIP Peter, and a multitude of thanks for your magnificent contribution to the Melbourne Football Club. Condolences to all your loved ones.

Pretty good effort to be at the game last sunday. At least his final game that he saw was a win. I noticed on the MCF website it says the office is closed today from 2:30 because of his funeral. Pretty quick to have the funeral 1 day after. He obviously did alot and was obviously a great mentor to Dean Bailey.

Always amazes me about some of our supporters, just how passionate they are. An inspirational man in both business and football world.

That's pretty special. Pretty amazing too considering we couldn't buy a win lately.

If Peter is Jewish, then their tradition is to bury their dead before the next sunset.

RIP Peter. Thank you for your passion. A really sad day.

Terribly sad news.

My deepest condolences go out to his family and friends. His passing is a big loss to the world, especially given his environmental work and his active role with our club.

:( condolences all round, sounds like he was a top bloke. On a brighter note, what a great week for him to go out on - a good win, a great feeling around the club, a fitting finale.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
