I am hesitant to post this as it is very different from what has already been posted.

I have heard, from half a world away a couple of very interesting whispers with regard to Freo, MFC and Hogan.

_ Melbourne prepared to deal if Hogan is happy moving and if they get the asking price.

_ Hogan is not 100% sold on Freo. Not confident posting what I heard as it may get this place in trouble.

_ Hogan and Freo both feel this is the last best chance to get him to move clubs but there is uncertainty both ways between Freo and Hogan. 

_ MFC sitting quietly waiting to see what they need to do but will not sit without a decision any longer that tomorrow. There are too many other things that nee to get done.

My take on what I have heard, assuming it is correct, is that I am leaning towards Hogan staying another year and looking at another 1 year extension. I do not believe player or either club wants to go through this again next year.

Saberfang - we are entering a five year premiership window. We need a quality fullback. A proven fullback. They don’t grow on trees.

You can’t keep building from the bottom with 18yos forever. The time has come to load up with seasoned talent for a proper crack at silverware.

1 year extension ??

If Hogan stays put the only way this circus sideshow doesn’t reoccur next year is if he signs on for minimum 3 additional years until 2022.

Jack Riewoldt kicked 10 goals 6 behinds against a Gold Coast defense led by Stephen May in round 21 this year.

Riewoldt kicked 2 goals 2 behinds against Melbourne when lining up on Oscar in the ANZAC eve match.

Interesting you say this but I would say it matches a lot of what I’m feeling about all this. Given the time this has played out and the fact that Hogan is still yet to make a decision leads me to believe that a strong part of Hogan wants to go home but not at the expense of his footballing dreams. 

All parties might well feel this is his best opportunity to get home, but Jesse himself may be feeling like Melbourne is his better chance at a premiership (that would be my opinion as well) and he isn’t as desperate to get home as others have in the past. 

He’s toured the facilities, he’s heard the pitch, he’s surely been told all the bells and whistles, and hopes and dreams. If he isn’t convinced by now he could be leaning towards staying. 

However if he is to stay I’d be looking for at least a two year extension, one year seems pretty pointless to me and I would prefer longer.

If Hogan actually intends to stay at the MFC, then he is doing his cause a poor service. He ushers in thoughts that he will be as popular as hens' teeth with the players, the Club administrators, the coaches and his many, many fans and supporters. He will also be a media and spectator laughing stock for putting two clubs and a whole system of AFL trade processes in jeopardy, doubt and dilemma from this overt display of Narcissistic infatuation, silence and public disregard.

If he doesn't wish to be at the MFC in 2019, then there is little chance that he will opt to play well with drive and determination for the sake of the MFC team and may resist opportunities to prepare for the coming season with his utmost determination - he will bide his time for a relaxed release in one year - why not? He is on good money for rope and has greater chance of his Freo transference (or WCE) without contractual obligations remaining with the MFC at that time.

If he does the 'early' transfer, then the MFC will assist him in appropriately paternal ways, as stated, (and this is something that he would have intended - all along - to exploit as evidenced by his current indifference to standard football protocols and 'fair play' courtesies, and the 'time-rich' trading lead-up, its advent and most probably in the future within his 'new' digs, elsewhere ). However, it would also be a confirmation to his intended new club that they are dealing with a petulant opportunist who has entered a period of losing his credibility as a valuable player - to their loss - and 'team man', both on and off the field of play. He will have to strive - perhaps in excess of his capability - to regain, re-establish and reinforce himself on the game's larger picture. 

This impression might all have been avoided by one action: open communication of intent. For some observers who cling to word of his decision-making and intent at this critical time, it is most distressing.

So we've told Freo if Hogan does seek a trade,  that picks 5 and 6 will get this deal done. Obviously Freo will baulk at that, and won't give up those picks, and we will most likely come to an arrangement of picks 5 and Freo's 2019 first round pick. That would be a good deal for Hogan. I can't see Fremantle making the 8. They should still be bottom 6-8.

The 16 weeks suspension and banned for life is an AFL Victoria rule and doesn’t apply to the AFL is my understanding.
