Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Harmes racks up useless possessions, shocking disposal

Happily agree with this part of your argument Chief.

He gets to the contest very well but from then on it's a raffle of whether he spoils the efforts of team mates or his handball drops straight to the deck. Good tackler without being very effective. A bit of confidence from the win might improve his dreadful disposal. In the last quarter he dished off a nice handball but that's about all I can recall.

It’s obvious Weideman is not up to AFL standard at the moment, we’re playing with 17 when he’s on the ground. Need to prioritise winning over development. Harmes racks up useless possessions, shocking disposal

Out Weideman & Harmes

In T Smith & Petracca

I think Weed has been great since coming  back in, he also started the clunk a few in the second half.

But he never gets out marked, he is very quick to tackle once the ball hits the deck and his ruck work has been pretty good.

Can't see him coming out this week.

Thought Hunt blazed away and wasted possession.  He had footspeed, but he either has to do better, or go back.

He's out of form and down on fitness by the looks of how much he's often blowing. But his pace makes a huge different both in attack and defending. We really don't have anyone to bring in for him. The backline were excellent all day and I wouldn't make a change.

Absolute bollocks, Weideman looks alright, like all bigger blokes he’ll take a bit longer, he was good against Tigers and did enough today to keep his spot, out ANB, in Petracca, ANB has done nothing all year, a waste of player at the minute

ANB is in terrible form but I wouldn't directly replace him with Petracca, not when the rest of the forward line is mostly taller players without great pressure or fitness.

One of the talls has to make way if Tracc comes back - and that's an if at this stage. I'm a Weid's fan and he was very good against Richmond and ok today - he's especially handy around the ground as a ruck. But to get Tracc back in he's the logical out as Tommy Mc builds fitness. I don't believe that Weideman is hampered by returning to Casey. He's still young enough that he doesn't desperately need games.

The bench at the end of the game was Tommy Mc, Hogan, Melksham and Salem. I'd be watching to see if they are all right to go during the week.

Tim Smith would have to be in the wings as well if Hogan or Petracca isn't right or if Tommy pulls up sore. In fact if the club believe Smith can do something as a midfield type player as a high half forward he might be the way to replace ANB. Double change - Weids and ANB for Petracca and Smith - that way you keep the same forward pressure and don't lose the aerial threat.

Maynard is about the only other option to replace ANB. He could play high half forward and maybe swap in and out with Harmes and Tracc.

Weid looks exactly like a 12 game, 20 year old 195 cm KPF should look.

Promising highlights, some good traits, and in need of a bit of experience at AFL level to put it all together.

I'd rather Harmes never touches the ball but his defensive work around the ground was very good today. Jones, Oliver and Brayshaw could hunt the ball because Harmes was the negating midfielder. Petracca in his spot would be adding in another attacking midfielder and distorting the tentative balance we found today.

Spin it what ever way you like pal. Players who have as little impact as Weideman currently is having, don’t make it in AFL.

OMac was in this same position 18 months ago. How's he doing now? Weideman is fine, is contributing, and will be a very very good AFL player.

I'm not sure Trac will be ready next week, based on the Casey outing it would be hard for anyone other than Smith to get the nod.

The outs discussions are interesting. ANB is certainly not at his best, and I agree that Tyson's disposal stops him from being the damaging player we need him to be.

If Trac is ready, I think ANB could make way over Tyson.

I think Weeds gets one more week to see what he can do. Tim Smith is lurking.

Harmes continues to bite of more than he can chew as a clearance mid. If he’s playing this role he can work on it in the twos.

Id keep him in but he needs to go to a wing/flank

Tyson played his best footy in the inside role and was great for us. Let’s put him back to where he can excel instead of languishing on a wing where his kicking and speed is continually exposed. I’m a Tyson fan and keeping the faith but he’s playing in a role that does nothing for him.

Trac in for ANB as the kid is cooked right now.

Weiderman

I really like what Weid is doing, he is developing really well and we are going to be a better side with him in 15 games time than him spending another 15 games in the 2's. The other thing to think about here is who would you prefer, Frost or Weid? Because as long as Weid is in, you wont see Frost as TMac can go back (which he might do when Carslile goes forward for patches next week). So I think Weid stays in the side.

ANB

Things you all know, he is down on form, but he is covering serious ground for us and his pressure acts are always up the top echelon of the competition (22 today (28 top); 27 v Rich (top Demon); 32 v Hawks (Top D); 19 v North (3rd D);  14 v Bris (mid tier); 22 v Geel (4th D)). He gets to the contest and puts on pressure. Whilst he might not get the ball, he helps those around him. Is this enough? I dont know. My worry is that we don't have that many players with A+ aerobic capacity and Trac for ANB is not like for like. Maybe Spargo who does have a good tank can play that role? Salem looked better behind the ball and Brayshaw looked better in the guts. I just dont know if he gets dropped to be honest.

So assuming that everyone is fresh for next week, no change unless Trac is fit ready to go. Then good luck picking who goes out.

I thought Weed played well and did his roll.

back up in the ruck , I would leave him in and let him build some confidence

Trac should be auto in and I think we will change 2 others

it will be like 3 games in 12 days , we will need some fresh legs

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
