Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sorry. Not particularly convinced. Seems some generic ideas worked. More some ingenuity of some players.

Im not really enamored by the Goody Game.

It might indeed be there..it might

by generic, what do you mean? i dont think there are too many new ideas in game plans, so you could throw generic around the same way we talk about cliches, like 'one week at a time', i think that the team executed a different set of instructions is evidence that he can coach? what do you want to be different? (for mine i want to see some more man on man occasionally when we need to arrest a run against)

Only issue with that is it's not Norms curse.

The curse was of those, who sacked Norm Smith...   those poll-itically correct cussed's.

They are the bastardo's who brought all this political correct rubbish, and dumped it on this club.

What has politically correctness got to do with this?- you bring it up in almost any situation but this takes the cake.  You do realise that yesterday's political correctness is today's accepted norm (Smith).

First thing I did when we got to the ground today was to have a look at the curtain raiser from the City end where Norths Cheer member was positioned. Overheard one of them ask his mate "reckon we can win today?". Other one answered, Yeah we only have to stop Hogan and they have nothing".

GAGF.

Our start was obviously horrific, but when we went to the break 13 points down it didnt feel that bad.

Funny how you see the game differently live than you do on TV, as I thought Oscar was rubbish for most of the day and was going to say so in this post. Then I read how many of you were so positive about his game, so I will watch the replay to see how I got it wrong.

Epic game from Maxy, and Hogan now seems to be matching the hype. Hugely influential despite only kicking one.

Salem did more than I expected. Really good in the guts.

Trac good again. (Does anyone keep their feet in a tackle better than this kid?)

Kenty was fantastic, especially considering he has been out of the seniors for so long.

That fuzzy headed freak-show from Norf gets a dream run from the umpires. Some of the [censored] he was awarded should have been wrapped in Christmas paper. Never in a live game have I heard so many people booing rubbish decisions after watching the big screen replay. Umps dept should be issued a Please Explain from MFC because some of them were unfathomable. Banana shirted bastards love to awards frees right in front of the cheer squad.  Horrendous display from them.

Others had good games, including Jonesy, Grandpa and Bernie. This was a game where our senior players actually provided real leadership.

Finally, to Goody. Well done bloke. You made some moves and they worked. Particularly Oliver to FFWD after he had been beaten for the first 3/4. One on one his skill stands out, and this move was a genuine winner.

Great win Dees. Its was well worth the drive from Shepp to finally see a bad streak broken.

I was at the MCG when......................................

This won't be popular, but I still can't wait for Bugg to go back to Casey.

Happy he kicked some, but by God he's awful.

He doesn't have any particular defining attribute other than good hands and a strong body.   He does tend to get on the end of a few and get a lot of set shots.

If he starts to put them through then he becomes a problem for the the opposition.   When that happens he might get some more respect and find it harder to get his hands on it.  We shall see.

Which four? We are doing a tastin if each bottle tonight. Gone through the two The Glenlivet and the Aultmore, onto the Oban14.

Oban, Laphroigh, one of the Glenlivets and the Ardbeg. Ardbeg is excellent but I've come to enjoy the Oban too. Some clever guy at my golf club got a hole in one and put a bottle of Oban on the bar. God bless him !! I thought it would be rude of me not to toast his success.

I’d recommend the Dalwhinnie 15yr and both Australians, the Timboon (vic, near Warrnambool) and Larks (tassie)

McDonald was good and did as well as he could, Brown certainly got lucky with some umpiring decisions which inflated his numbers.

Just on Brown, he's normally a play I enjoy watching but his staging for free kicks makes him unlike-able.

Tough game because North really believed they had it over us. (With good reason.) And belief goes a long way. Whereas we were in choke territory, where according to champion data, we are ranked #1.

But another step taken on our long journey ... 18 15 to 13 8 shows how all over them we were. In the game day thread it seemed like NMFC were always 2 seconds away from a withering blast of goals to humiliate us for another year. But on the ground we were clearly better. After the initial onslaught, which surely we must have expected ... how else were NMFC going to win? ... we pegged them back and they never looked like getting in front again.

Could so easily have been a 10 goal win.

Some players were down but that's okay. Good teams can cope with that. If you need every player firing to win, you’re probably in the bottom 4.

Gotta hand it to Goody. Doesn't act the goat in the coaches box, which leads some to believe he has no idea. But who wanted Wagner in for round 1? Wagner hasn't disgraced. Who wanted  Bugg in? Hasn't won Brownlow votes, but hasn't blown it either. He has a way of chiming in when it's really needed. Kent? Frost?

Bombing it long inside 50. Crazy stuff. Somehow the chaos it created led our smalls to boot the lion’s share of the goals.

Maybe this Goodwin guy has a better handle on things than he lets on.

Oh, and ... Go Demons!

Some random thoughts.

The opening 15 minutes we were running 3-4 spares out of the backline, leaving Daw  all alone and then we kick it high to a contest. It made him look good and let them get out of our forwrd zone too easy. When the ball came out once it got past our zone they got goals out the back. We played much better with a man on man contest and fixed up the issue

North got a lot of goals from frees in what was one of the worst displays of umpiring I have seen this year. The free to Ben Brown for a ruck infringement late in the 2nd left me stunned yet 2 minutes later when Goldy shepherds Max out of the contest no whistle. Fortunately Bugg got take high and promptly missed with his free after the siren

We still miss a lot of set shots and Trac is better on the run

I like Clarry resting up forward. Jacobs wore him like a second skin and limited his possession but his 2 goals int he last quarter show what a weapon he can be resting up forward.

At round 3 we still have a lot of room for improvement espcially our forward efficiency but I expect Tommy Mac will straighten that up on his return.

Scott Thompson is a thug. His punch to Jessies head on the final siren is typical of his style for his whole career. I hope it gets reviewed

Yes, political-correctness leads us to be too nice. off-field and on-field.

It effects the perceptive environment around the whole club, effecting supporters across the AFL competition.  we are thought to be holier than thou, to be right all the time and to be 'above' other supporters of the AFL.

This effects us in a poor way Re finding new supporters. when new supporters to the game want to choose a side.

It infiltrates the club attitudes & so on the staff and the players as well.

it is a part cause of the bruise-free concept as well. And our susceptibility to become comfortable with ourselves, and so the players as well, leading to drop offs in games, and also if unchecked, poor seasons on the trot, & laziness in the players,,, if let grow.

It is our clubs Achilles Heal.   It leads to an impression of Mfc snobs, at the footy etc.  Range Rovers to the snow etc.  All these putdowns of the Mfc by others.

In short its why other supporters of the AFL, and of other codes,,, do not like/respect us.   We have a toffy imagery about this club which we have to crush & be rid of.

If we are to grow in a meaningful way, as a Footy club.

I like Neal-Bullen, but he dropped numerous easy uncontested marks today due to perceived pressure.

He's just a bit out of touch atmo imo.  There's been a few of them outa sorts, but in a changing shaped side its also a little to be expected, that some will feel the differences.

Good to see bugg kick a few and great to see Kenty back and kicking goals and tackling too.

Great effort boys.

Kent was just magic,  aggressive for the ball,  brave at the ball,  penetrating and fast.  Ripper game from him and surely an object of team play. I sat there watching him carve up the Kangas with team intent.  It was worth the drive from Adelaide.  Still stunned by the team efforts and the receivers of deserved plaudits.  Liked Frosty's game as well.

Just as an aside to this week. I'd like to celebrate Fritzy's arrival so far.  And Jake Levers decision to make Melbournefc home.

I cannot wait til we go in as under-cats, against the 'Crows', with a full list.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
