Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Clarry better start than Judd?

Juddy I think was more polished and explosive on the run, definitely like to get the ball on his foot.

Clarrys a different beast, as good if not better then anyone in close by hand but he doesn’t tend to burst out of the pack and run like Judd.

probably more comparable to Voss then Judd but if turns out half as good as either, we got a seriously good player on our hands.

He's playing AFL midfielder minutes on ground now, too.

He just gets the ball, and gets away a clean disposal, in ways other players just can't. We've been waiting for a star for so long, it still hasn't sunk in that we've finally landed a genuine one.

Amen to that.

If he kicked more than he handballed then he would be considered one of the Top 10 players in the game already.  He stood up for us in the second half when others didn't - he had 23 touches of his own in the third and fourth quarters.

He had 35 touches, 22 of them contested to go with 11 clearances and 8 tackles.  He does it every week without blinking an eye.  Absolute superstar.

Weird comparison with Judd. Plays nothing like him. Plus I can't imagine a Rebecca Twigley on his arm come Brownlow night (which, as it turns out, may be a good thing)

He's my favourite player, and is well on his way to being the best Demon midfielder in my lifetime.

Very different player to Judd though. While he's putting up far better numbers than Judd did, he doesn't have the explosive bust out of packs and he doesn't hit the scoreboard either. Judd would often go for a run, dance around some opposition and bang through 3-4 goals. His impact on games was huge, and faded in the second half of his career as his groin was shot so he lost his explosive pace. I love Clarry, but his impact isn't the same at this stage. If he starts hitting the scoreboard, then he'll genuinely be a top 5 player in the comp.

I believe he will go down in history as one of the greatest Dees midfielders of all time.....certainly the best in more than half a century. He is freakishly clean with his ball use in traffic and rarely wastes a disposal.

What a pleasure to watch him play.

11 kicks ... 24 handballs

Needs to reverse that and then he will start getting the accolades he probably deserves from the commentators

Well hes playing to his strengths.

And when youre the best exponent of the handball since Greg Williams,  why not?

Potentially an absolute superstar.

I reckon he is more like a Jobe Watson (only quicker) by the way he keeps his hands high enabling him to handball so effectively .

He is getting more penetration with his kicking this year. Becoming a barometer for the team.

Maybe that article was written by that googy egg Carlton fan he threatened over the fence?

I think the kicking aspect of his game is affected by where he gets most of the pill. He is usually ripping the ball out of packs and clearing from traffic where there is barely enough room to swing a cat. When he learns when to drift off, then look out.

The handball kick ratio is a myth. He is in the middle of packs using his hands to create space for his team.

I rate him massively and I'm still not convinced the wider footy public have caught on just how good he is in close.

Whoever didn't include him in the top 10 under 23 should honestly look for another profession.

Was about to post something similar his kick to handball ratio is a massive myth but hard to kick when your in the bottom of a pack, he is kicking more than last year already, nothing wrong with his game he handballs to players in space who have more time to kick, no point him just blazing away blindly every time

I watched the first Q again.  They put massive effort into Clarry.  At one stoppage Christiansen physically held him away from the contest.  They blocked him and ran a hard tag, and he still smashed them.

his ability to get the ball is elite, his vision and speed to get it out is even better.  He hits players with handballs and they seem surprised.  For a stoppage guy, those numbers are fine hb/kick ratio.

glad he is one of ours!

That thirty metre handpass to Trac in space which led to Hogan's 5th goal? Yeah … that was better than any [censored] kick.

Remarkable player, ball clearances expert. Goes in, gets the ball and uses it to advantage nearly every time. Takes a tag or two with poise and takes a knock or two with maturity. Beautiful kicking emphasised last night. Handball wizard. Virtually unstoppable across a game. Needs to run special skills clinics with all other players, just to teach them to think and do.

According to Brown, Twomey and Harvey, he's ranked "above average", with Petracca, Hunt, TMac and Lever "elite". We also have a player named Penderson on our list.

TV is muted so I'm not sure what they're saying, but I'm sure whatever it is isn't worth listening to.

Clearly should have had Clayton Oliver on this list! ? The midfielder has been absolutely immense tonight. So clean in slippery conditions. #AFLLionsDees #thegameisingoodhands

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
