Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Selwood getting off just proves how bad the system has got, was much worse than what Salem did as it was to the back of mitchels head with his whole weight, mitchel couldn't protect himself, and how could the AFL Think it's a good idea to have bartel on the MRP Surely it's a conflict of interest, as if bartel is going to suspend 1 of his best mates, just a joke of a system

A sub-box that the MRP go through "is the players name Selwood? Yes = fine/no action taken, No = suspension".

If the MRP suspends Salem then they should've suspended Selwood. Absolute joke.

Fine with Mitchell being let off, funny how when it first came out people were say "different team, same Sam Mitchell" well it was Selwood doing the cheap dog act, and he's got away with it.

If they drop Pedo I'm torching the place down.

Pedo is a must in the team!

I rather not risk Jones and Watts this week, when this is probably our least winnable game for the next 6 weeks! Not saying we can't or shouldn't win, but if they go over and their injury worsens and they end up missing 3-4 weeks, that would be a massive blow.
I'd be conservative on both, and while Gawn is back, resting Watts for a week won't be as crucial. Pedo can play permanent forward, and maybe Tom can as well, especially if Kennedy isn't back.

Was saying that Gawn takes Pedo's position and so Pedo takes Hannan's (or another medium forward - perhaps Watts if he's lame. And Bugg seemed to be another with a heavy limp toward the end of the game).

Love Pedo to bits. Equal-high contested possessions, 91% D/E, and three genuine goal assists on the weekend. And just all-out competitive whenever he goes near it.

But we do have some things to consider. Is Pedo's resurgence and current form a product of the Stefan Martin Effect? I.e. Does he need to be in the middle as the number one and have freedom of movement to have a full impact?

When he has shifted forward during games, he's definitely helped with structure and bringing our other forwards into the play. But half of his own goals and goal assists have come about playing as a medium - roving the fall or hand-balling out from the scrum.

With Watts playing shorter than what he is, and Hogan probably more suited to the roaming CHF role (sadly, without the leg for it), we seem to have a forward brigade full of short-to-mediums (who can't bloody kick straight), mediums,or medium-to-talls - and Pedo is competing for one of these spots with Hogan shortly due back.

He has the versatility to second-ruck, (and can take a contested grab up the field), but Watts and Tmac can also provide relief. He won't be taking Watts' or Hogan's spots in the long-term, so either he plays taller than them both as a genuine KPF - which in a trickle will squeeze out a medium (the position - which I think Goodwin would be reluctant to do) - or he provides more than one of the mediums.

This week is Pedo's true audition. Any unforced selections will tell a tale (as to Simon's thoughts re. structure and forward-planning - although tempered somewhat by where and when we're playing).

You've answered your own question...he can play forward, Martin can't/couldn't.

I can't see how Watts and Jones could play this week.  At any rate, I can't see the club risking either of them is there's a chance of further soft tissue injury.

Its a question of how badly do we need to win in WA and how badly do we need to manage the players with 3 x 6 day turn arounds in a row,   It's now a reality that we will probably play finals, so have to keep that in mind.

At the very end of the game I saw Harmes limp towards the bench with a lower leg injury and they just told him to wait on the ground and 5 seconds later the final siren blew.  So I think you can add him to the the possible injured list.  If he is out it gives either Kennedy of JKH a go.

I want to see Maynard have a run and if managing players injuries is the issue, it would be a good time for that to occur.  I don't want them to try him closer to finals - which means he would have to wait til next year.  If Jones doesn't pull up I'd replace him with Maynard.

I doubt they'll risk Max next week when he only has 6 days to recover for the following week in a tough match against the swans on Friday night.  Big men and long flights don't help recovery in a short week.

Without knowing the extent of soreness it's difficult, but in the last 2 weeks Watts has had ankle problems, back spasms and hamstrings.  He needs a rest, so its Spencer for Watts and Pedo plays Watts role.

We want to win in WA and manage players appropriately.  Not mutually exclusive by the way.

Maynard - are you serious?  How many games has he played at VFL and in how many has he shone?

AFL site predicting that Shuey will only get a fine, how's that for independence of the MRP

Surely nobody oaths site would expect even a smattering of integrity from that totally compromised, maybe corrupted, organisation.  A sick joke.

No. He is nowhere near best 22 for starters, and our talls are all in good form.

Weideman has hardly set the world on fire in the VFL, only let him back in when he is smashing the door down. He needs to develop a hunger for playing at the highest level.

I am a true believer in the Weed becoming a very good (at least) player, but he needs to find some consistent good form, and the confidence, at Casey.     Back and forth AFL/VFL cannot help his development nor his confidence, nor the MFC.

Pedersen will be free to play far more minutes as a tallish forward with Max back.

Or jkh as he has been playing midfield at Casey and doing quite well, at least he would have some speed, but I would love to see trenners get another crack, this game all of a sudden is going to be really hard to win with a few injuries, if hibberd is out also we will be up against it

I suppose that's the real question. Will he be good enough as a starting forward and where does he fit in our intended structure? From memory, Martin was moving forward and kicking goals when Jamar was out and then flat-lined as a starting forward. We've seen Pedo as a starting KPF before - I think he provides enough and hopefully his newfound confidence will give him an extra boost - but I don't know in terms of footy dept. thinking.

If jones has pulled up sore than I'd definitely look at giving him a week. Don't want to push it with him as he's so important to our team.

Maybe Pedo moves into the truer FF position, play Petracca as a midfielder, and Gawn comes in for Jones.

If the outs are Watts, Hibberd, and Jones then the likely ins will come from Gawn (Pedersen forward replacing Watts), Wagner, and either Stretch or Kennedy-Harris.  I doubt they'll bring in Trengove.

Imo Jones missing is our most easily covered of the potential outs. It's big, no doubt but we have depth in that area. If we lose Hibberd and/or Watts, these are key positions that hurt structure as we saw in the early days of no Hogan and Gawn. Jones is covered by Stretch, JKH, AND then Trengove.

If it's only Jones that misses, is it a straight swap for Gawn or do we look to do a like for like and still drop someone for Gawn and then replace Jones with Stretch?

If Watts and Jones don't get up then that makes it easier, Gawn and Stretch based on some here.

I can see JKH being a potential in here as well after two very good VFL performances. I wonder how a game directly in the middle might go for him with Gawn in as well.

My prediction:

In: Gawn, JKH

Out: Watts, Jones

Obviously not ideal but I think it's a decent swap and not just a "filling the sheet" one.

I wouldnt be surprised if Pedo is used as a floating defender this week as he was a bit against the Dogs. Can't see him getting drop with the Eagles big bodies on the horizon.

If Hibberd misses as well then you'd expect Wagner to.

Trengove is very lower depth player now. Unless we lose 3 mids, he's not getting a game. It's that simple, guys. Sad, but true.

Watts sore.

Recovery is recovery for a reason.

If Jones is out I'd hope they consider Trengove to come in and play were Lewis has been & stick Lewis in the guts to replace Jones.

Damn, Jonesy to miss the Swans game too.   Big blow.

Gawny back just in the nick of time, with his ruck dominance we may not miss Jonesy as much as we may think.

I nominate JKH to get a crack in the midfield after dominant VFL form there. He is not a forward.

Also [censored] off to see Jonesy out for a couple. He's a bloody tough unit so I wouldn't be surprised if he got up for the Sydney game

The last time we played a game without Nathan Jones was round 5, 2012. We were 0-4 at that stage and went on to lose our first 9 games that year

In: Gawn

Out: Jones

Trac, Tyson and Lewis to step up and get extra midfield minutes

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
