Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That kick to Watts was sublime and his hands in close were very good today.

Bit off topic but was that when Watts fell over and then had to sprint to the ball and take it strongly at pace?

I had a laugh because Watts' slip took the doubt out of his mind and he hit the drop of the ball hard and marked cleanly. Was a window in to what Watts can do if he keeps winning the battle over his mind.

He had one kick that wasn't as deep as he'd hoped (Varcoe intercept chopped arms) and another poor decision when he went to Jones in the corridor, which resulted in a goal to us, but he's a super smart player, a great tackler, and very clean.

Pace was not an issue whatsoever.

He's feeling his way after two years and I have zero doubt he'll be best 22 and get better and better.

Jury still out for me.  I want him to succeed like everyone else but I won't let that cloud my judgement.

He's just going at the moment, holding his spot and treading water.  I still think his pace is an issue because I watched him easily outpaced at Casey a number of times during the year.  He hasn't been shown up yet but hasn't dispelled my doubts either. He hardly touched it in the first when the pace was on and again after half time.

Early days, hope he starts swimming soon. Oh, and he can make as many mistakes as he likes if it leads to our goals!

Bump!

The Skipper thinks Trengove will be right in the mix. From Watts article

Quote

Jones said Trengove, who has overcome a career-threatening foot injury, would continue to put himself in the frame for senior selection.

"From my perspective [Jack] couldn't have done much more right," Jones said.

"He's been unbelievable with his persistence and courage to get over his injury.

"His leadership is terrific, he's got some great attributes with his running ability and decision making.

"I think he's right in the mix.

"I definitely don't think the game has passed him and I think he can be a really strong contributor for us (in 2017)."

I hope he gets plenty of the pill tomorrow night and presses for Rd 1 selection. With the amount of fowards with an injury question mark hovering above them right now, it could just be perfect timing for JT to get going.

Will finally see for myself, if all of the training reporters saying he was "moving well", are full of siht.

I'm suspecting they are.

I gave up most of the hope I had for him when I read the article where he stated that he had given up trying to regain his speed, and would focus on getting the ball in traffic instead.

If you cant get to a contest, or catch your opponent, you cannot apply defensive pressure.

Very interested to see what role he plays, but will not be at all surprised if he doesn't play. Maybe his best bet is replacing VDB at half forward. His hands have always been his strength.

I'll take a particular interest in him tomorrow night and look for his efforts that we usually can't see when watching the Tele.

Team first acts, as Goody puts it.

Really it is last roll of the dice for Trenners.

The fact that he got a one year deal when you consider his age says it all.

While that may come across as though I am negative about his chances, I will bloody shed a tear if he becomes a regular fixture in the midfield.

Come on Trenners! YOU CAN DO IT SON!

I think a lot of us will be watching the double jacks. As well as hoping Dom gets through unscathed. Even more important that winning a pracy game

Me too, Redleg!  I SO want him to prove all the nay-sayers wrong, and finally fulfil his potential form being taken at Pick #2 all those years ago.  Go Jack!

I think a lot of people's opinions on here are based on sentimentality.

I don't think JT will be able to play Goodwin's style of game. But that is merely my opinion, similar to Faulty.

If he does get a regular spot in the 22 Good Luck to him

But i want to make finals this year. That must be the ultimate aim

Jones thinks differently and as club Captain I'll accept his view over any sentimentality.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
