  12. Merry Christmas to all. Not quite my favorite day of the year, but that's only happened 3 times in my lifetime and only delivered once. Hoping there is a bright shiny new one that Jack is holding in the stocking for next year.

  15. Same thing happened to me @DubDee in 2020. Pandemic, Mum died, hospital 4 times with the heart and gave up drinking alcohol. Within 12 months I bought a new house in a town I have always loved and we won the first flag in my lifetime. The good times will come.

  16. Dunstan, Harmes, Hibberd and Jordon all out vs Billings, McAdam, Windsor and Thostrup in. Woedwodin is right at the heart of the puzzle of how we reorganise our midfield, wings and half-foward for 2024 and for years to come. Personally I'd like to see him more in the thick of things and avoiding any 'Spargofication' of becoming a low-possession smart-positioning outside type. My gut feeling from watching him is that he'll have some great awareness in the chaos and has an intuition for getting the ball to better places. Also, Taj Woewodin: UNDEFEATED.

  20. I feel so sorry for Tom - he was an important part in our flag, and in us getting as far as we did in 2018. He works hard, is strong and well bulked in the upper body, but has been let down repeatedly by his foot. Now time is against him and sadly I suspect that time will pass him by, though I hope deep down that he will be able to make a big contribution in what will surely be his final season. Thanks Tom.

  21. Huge thanks to @Demonland & @Whispering_Jack for this outstanding site, plus Andy,@george_on_the_outer & @binman for our fantastic pods, and all genuine contributors to Demonland. As an ‘Interstater’ Demonland is my MFC / AFL ‘lifeblood’. Seasons greetings to all. Go Dee’s!

  23. I'm assuming that, knowing you Clint, your "merry Christmas everyone" would probably not be extended to the men with the whistles?

  24. Yes, bad oversights on my part, but in my defence it was just a quick brain dump of what was in my mind at the time… before The Dingoes I’d probably also have to put Carson (aka Carson County Boogie Band). I’m a bit surprised (disappointed?) with myself for having overlooked the Oils and the Divinyls. I used to go and watch the Divinyls playing in a small Paddington pub (The Grand National) in the early 80’s before they recorded and became ‘famous’… great live band! Theres probably quite a few others that I failed to include such as Chain, The Triffids, The Go-Betweens, The Masters Apprentices and so on. It’s a good memory test 😁

  27. Tommy was great for us in 2018 & 2021 and a fit TMac provides extra depth to May, Lever, Tomlinson, Turner and Adams. I hope Tommy gets back to his best in case we need him down back. The boys can learn a lot from TMac fwd & back.

  29. That is terrible news for you DubDee, I hope that you can get the heart issues sorted in your favour. It is really sad to hear your mother has had surgery for cancer, it is a very tough time for you and your family. My wife is a cancer survivor so can appreciate what you are going through. Good luck DubDee.💕

  31. Basically what Deestar9 said couple of posts ago. He lost his Zip from 2021. 2022 ruined cos of the 2 knee operations then in the pre season 2023 got the Thyroid again after six years. lost weight and no Zip. Heart rate of 125 walking to the table. Resting to recover lost all fitness from the pre season work then hurt his knee again. The year was done really. Seems confident a good pre season will give him Zip again Spoke about Oliver and the club all getting united and attacking the problem head on. Not a bad few words really especially when it was in the HScum.

  43. He obviously likes the Dees, however, he fails to acknowledge that Petty and Melksham won't be available for a while, and he hasn't acknowledged that a fully fit Brown and McDonald will make a difference. Also, not many people - so called 'critical experts' - have taken into account the horrific plague of injuries to key Melbourne Forwards was absolutely crucial during the Finals which they lost by a margin of 9 points..., not to mention the assault on Brayshaw and the suspension of Van R...

  44. Imagine being a 20yo now with a completely open mind about rock bands? (both past and present) The 60's through to now to embrace But for us oldies, we've lived it all Spoilt for choice!! I was a bit young to appreciate and embrace all of the 60's but a lot has derived from that period. Just about everything was progressive rock back then The Beatles probably weren't seen as progessive but they were Early memories was the excitement and anticipation for the release of Sgt Peppers. It was bigger than big

  46. 1971 R18 at Arden Street. I was 17yo and although a Demon from my earliest memory, I had never seen them live. Dad rarely went and I never saw a game with him, despite chasing his car in tears as he went with a neighbour. I either played myself or followed the races in those days. I had started my first job in a bank in the city and had become good friends with a North supporter. Given our teams were playing and I wasn't, we went and were two of a crowd of just 6500 to brave the wind and rain that day. 14 of the 17 match goals were scored at one end. Game day reports show Max Walker replaced 'Crackers' Keenan in the last quarter, we had just 32 handballs for the day and over 100 frees were awarded. I remember we were 26 pts down at 3/4 time but kicked 5 of our 9 match goals in the last quarter to draw the game. My mate's smug look evaporating with every goal. As my mate's brother was good friends with David Dench, I joined them in the social club post match. Last thing I remember was being escorted out mid evening after cheering Melbourne's goals on the replay being shown and singing It's A Grand Old Flag.

  47. My first game? The ‘64 grand final. Not a bad start at all. Don’t remember much except getting a flat tyre on the way there and holding up all the traffic on High St wanting to turn right onto Punt Road heading to the game. I remember Ray Gabelich’s long run and goal, and my namesakes goal from nowhere at the end. Other than that, not so much.
