Angus married his beautiful, long time partner, Danielle Frawley today in a beautiful ceremony on the Mornington Peninsular. Wishing this lovely couple a lifetime of happiness, plus a multitude of athletically gifted Father - Sons/Daughters.13 points

Nah that's Clarry. Good on him. Looks fit, healthy and in a good place. A million miles from this time last year. If we get big years from those three lads lok out.10 points

On behalf of all at Demonland, we thank you for all of your support during 2024 and wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year and a happy, safe and healthy holiday period and a great 2025. Hoping that come the end of September, we can celebrate another Demon premiership! It's also time to thank all those who have contributed to Demonland during the past season and to all those who post here or simply visit and read without posting. We value your contributions and ongoing support - especially to Nasher who keeps us going on the technical side, to our moderators whose task is often thankless - especially so when we go through yet another season where the wins are outweighed by the losses. Special thanks to our regular contributors, Whispering Jack, George on The Outer, Bin Man, KC from Casey, The Oracle, Meggs and all others who have contributed articles and by contributing to our Demonland podcast. Once again they have had to report on games and subjects that have sometimes been difficult to write about in 2024 because our club went through some difficult times both on and off the field. Now, we are all looking forward to a bigger and better season in 2025 and hope that the stories and news we bring you will be uplifting and exciting. We are always looking out for new contributors who have something to say about the mighty Demons. If you want to contribute an article feel free to contact me via PM. Cheers & thanks again. I would like to thank Andy and his team at Demonland for running such a great site. Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope that 2025 is a great year for the Demons. I plan on attending most training sessions at Ghoshs Paddock, and am happy to report what I saw. Carn the Demons.7 points

I still hold hopes for Jefferson. I think he's now developing the body to compete and he's got footy smarts but as you say his competitiveness is questionable. As for "wasting pick 15" it's interesting to look at the 2022 ND. There are only two players that I'd want ahead of Jeffo at this stage. Weddle would have been very good and Darcy Jones shows lots of promise but apart from that I can't really see one player that would have added value to our list. And our needs were clearly KPF's so I'm happy with the pick and my stomach is quite settled.5 points

Jefferson averaged 2 goals a game when playing fwd at Casey in 2024. Transfer that into the AFL and he is a weapon. The more experience at senior levels he gets, the more consistent and confident he will become. A JVR and Jefferson combo could be dynamite in years to come. Two very different types of players to match up on.4 points

Ahh, now we know why @Demonstone gave up authorship of quizzes - he wants to claim the Gold Medal every time ... 😉 Maybe give him a quota of Gold Medals then no longer eligible ... 😁 Thanks for compiling the quiz, Roger M.4 points

Thanks to Andy and everyone else who contributed. Tough year for the club and those involved here but we've been through much worse and will be back better than ever.4 points

Good luck to both of them. Yesterday would have been an emotional day for both families especially for the frawley family without Danny there.4 points

Latest reports have Prestia also suffering a soft tissue injury on his way to the bar to buy a round.4 points

Just looking for clues everywhere. Given I can’t see a pocket square on trac I can also infer he won’t be playing in the pocket or the square. Half forward role? footy season can’t come fast enough. Happy ‘25. Hope it’s a memorable one 👍🏼3 points

Are we talking Glenhuntly St Anthony's Football Club? If so, two of my mates played there circa 1979/80. I attended one of their Sportsman's Nights (are they still a thing?) which was hosted by Leon Weigard and featured Max Walker, big Mick Nolan and little Peter Bakos (jockey). Huge, huge night. Didn't make it into work the next day.3 points

The problem with playing JVR in the ruck is : 1. While he is doing that, it deprives us of our primary forward target. We struggle to score as it is when he is there. 2. It takes away a "big body" from the forward line, thereby making the defenders job easier. It makes the small forwards jobs harder because they don't have a player to "bring the ball to ground" 3. He is more likely to suffer injury in the collisions in a rucking role, which isn't his forte. He is a forward, not a ruck, no matter how good he is at it. 4. Once he finishes his job, he has to go to the bench for a rest, depriving us of him up forward for a further period. 5. The kid was 20 last year. How many other clubs are using a player of that age in the ruck?3 points
-
I like JVR in the ruck. He competes hard and is capable in the ruck contests. The answer to our forward line functioning is not more targets. It is more pressure, better entries and straight goalkicking. Having JVR in the ruck means we play another player (like Tholstrup or Sparrow) who provide pressure.3 points

Dont worry Tom can still report that Goody met Steve and upset May who was annoyed that selfies were being taken without his agreement. He wanted a trade. May contacted Richmond seeking a trade but when Prestia turned up and found Trac, Clarry and Viney were not there ,the whole transfer arrangement that was supposed to be conducted was called off. Steve was unaware of this and has not agreed to release it to May so the transfer deal may still go ahead. Expect Melbourne to conduct a full club evaluation including castigating its supporter base for approaching Goody in an unsolicited transfer scheme. Dingo will be appointed interim supporter engagement officer in what is seen as another embarrassing incident recognising the fundemntal failures of Melbourne. Trac Clarry and Viney will no longer train and play for this train wreck of a club. May may seek early retirement . Tom Morris will report further revelations to this fantasy tale in the next edition of any outlet that will pay him to make this stuff up3 points

Two weeks ago Mr Goodwin was at the Sorrento hotel on a Saturday arvo. My son’s friend Steve was there and sent him a selfie of Goody and Steve. Unfortunately there were no journalists there to report on coach and fan enjoying a friendly, sober time!3 points

Yep He’ll be a Dee barring some late winds change — ie upheaval or sudden major decline that looks unrecoverable.. but can’t see that as even IF absolute worst happened & we lost Trac, Clarry, Max next year and even Kos, I honestly blv the haul we’d gain in conjunction with our young talent means it’d be a 2-4yr skid at most! But my current feeling is that this group now is closest thing we’ve had talent and fitness wise to our 2021 group, line by line, 90% doing 90% of pre season etc so of course that can all change but KW a demon is about $1.27 for mine 😉3 points

Don’t think there were dart belts in the days when thst model Mercedes was a feature on the road probably in Europe and Italy more likely. The Vespa has replaced cars in Rome it’s much easier to get a park. Sorry for some of this info it is probably not all that accurate but great to speculate. Trac did mention that he proposed about 2 years ago at Lake Como I think it was and referred to in Italy as “in the motherland”. Famous picture around that time in the news. I saw Lake Louise for the first time this year in July and any Caucasian white male would find it hard to resist a proposal at that beautiful location. ( not USA lad as they wouldn’t recognise any location outside the good old USA) Its all before Brand Petracca this year all we need is about 25 team mates to come along 2021 style and scream photo at the top of Mt Everest may be possible with the Premiership Cup and our Flag featuring. We can only hope it’s nut too much to expect if a little Lady Luck goes our way. All the best to Trac and Bella may we have a few little Trac’s and Bella’s for our 2040 teams please!! Hope all their wishes and dreams do come true.3 points

IF the first training session for 2025 is on the 9th Jan at Slithera City, I'm a good chance of attending!2 points

No. Glenhuntly was in the federal league. Their reserves and underage teams played at Lord's reserve. St Anthony's also played at Lords Reserve but on the next oval.2 points

Calling Billings a "spud" demonstrates ignorance. Enough to make your other team selections non-essential reading for me!2 points

Johnson averages under a goal a game, and does not get enough possessions (rarely gets into double figure stats for kicks) at VFL level to warrant a round one selection. I get the romanticism of a new playing coming to the club, and the need for a backup Ruck who has a physical presence up fwd, but he was overlooked by 17 other clubs for a reason. I’m hoping being in a professional sport’s environment will turn this around, but a round one selection is unlikely. Tom Campbell is more likely to fill this void than Johnson.2 points

I don’t think I will ever get over this incident. I still feel angry and the mere mention of that POS name makes me want to vomit. Don’t get me started on MC. Having had dealings with him over the years I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him. How does he still hold that position of power. It’s beyond me.2 points

I still don’t understand how Anderson is invited back to the club in any way. Why he represents us at the tribunal is mind boggling.2 points

I’d rather Petty and TMac as swingman in the fwd and backline. Both have runs on the board whilst Jeffo and Johno are yet to fully dominate at VFL level . Neither are proven at VFL level to be given first shot in round one. I have high hopes for Jeffo and can see he is a natural fwd. Unless either of them can impact in pre season games, they will be playing for Casey round 1 imo. Im also hoping Petty rises to his high standards. Last year was right off for him recovering from his foot injury. TMac had a very good season in 2024 after a poor year in 2023 with the same injury.2 points

I wish Gus all the best. I only really know him from the public reports since his drafting with the club. He was certainly impressive in every aspect of that relationship. I am still personally impacted by any mention of him and can only imagine how he is affected. He was such a bright light with his podcast with Max and the relationships he developed with the players will always be remembered. I know he can continue to impress in any phase of life he chooses. I would like to see his relationship with the club continued and indeed renewed . I believe he has much to offer the club. His has been a unique experience and while he already has a legacy as a premiership player, the club can build on his experience as a Concussion ambassador if he chooses and build another even more significant legacy in the industry and community.2 points

None of this matters. And it didn’t matter at the time. He was simply never missing finals. The outcome was decided probably as early as within minutes of the incident, or it may as well have been since Maynard was playing in finals come hell or high water. As @Redleg pointed out, Collingwood supporters (the MRO and Gleeson) making such important decisions about a Collingwood player is wrong on every level. Imagine if it was you who had to adjudicate and it was a Melbourne player and finals were on the line. I know I would struggle with impartiality. Fact: the AFL is Collingwood’s little b!ttch. PS: at the time, for about five minutes I admired Laura Kane. I was sucked in. I thought wow she’s actually going up against the MRO, this is ballsy. But she’s just like Dillon and co… weak as pizz. Spineless. Impotent. Puppets on a string.2 points

It’s a well known fact that many of the Prestia family were originally Melbourne supporters so the reference to wine and a cheese board comes as no surprise whatsoever.2 points

The “story” is that several AFL players were present at a hotel when a fight broke out at 2am between patrons (who weren’t the players themselves). Mental.2 points

At various times Demonland has has some excellent podcasts guests that are/were current members of the club administration and coaching pannel. Peter Jackson was one of the most prominent and insightful that imeediatley come to mind. I'm only going off memory here, but I think the timing of his appearance was probably in the Paul Roos days or perhaps around 2018 when he was very much relevant to the club. I think there should be plenty of scope for perhaps more current serving club personnel to appear on the pod cast and answer interview questions from Andy, Binny and the general forum without compromising any sense of independence from the club. Maybe Brad could appear on the forum himself (again possibly), to kick off the open communication channels. Incidentally, one of the quotes that stuck with me from that Peter Jackson interview is that "sometimes development is always linear" and then we had seasons 2019, 2020, followed by 2021!1 point

Didn’t Johnson play as the best tall Fwd in the VFL premiership team? rpfc says he’s ahead of Jefferson and co. and if the FD would like to avoid JVR rucking 20 mins he is the best bet to sidle up with Jacob and Turner in a 3 prong attack.1 point
