Have a great Christmas all ive had a bad couple of months. The ticker is on the fritz, in a bad way, caught it just in time. i’m even off the booze for good. and my mum just got discharged from 6 weeks in hospital post cancer surgery. Hoping for a better 2024! Hope you and your families are healthy and happy and go Demons11 points

Same thing happened to me @DubDee in 2020. Pandemic, Mum died, hospital 4 times with the heart and gave up drinking alcohol. Within 12 months I bought a new house in a town I have always loved and we won the first flag in my lifetime. The good times will come.10 points

He basically detailed how 2 knee surgeries detailed his season in 2022 & then in 2023 the thyroid condition which led to (he believes) his knee surgery (a bit of cartilage chipped off due to the knee being weakened from lying on the couch for a month). Never got back his fitness. The thyroid issue sounded awful. This season already did an intense training session overseas with a lot of different athletes etc and feels he has that “zip” back. The last time he felt like this was in 2021. He sounded extremely positive.10 points

Nice words mate. Straight back to you Merry Christmas and best wishes to you and all the all the other good people on this good site. Hell tis the season.... even to the tossers here who have given me the facepalm emoji over the year. All the best.9 points

I only know you all as your words and pictures, but you're all great company. I wish you all the best, in this festive but also contemplative season and into a red-and-blue-dominant new year.8 points

That is terrible news for you DubDee, I hope that you can get the heart issues sorted in your favour. It is really sad to hear your mother has had surgery for cancer, it is a very tough time for you and your family. My wife is a cancer survivor so can appreciate what you are going through. Good luck DubDee.💕7 points

It's his older brother. His junior coach at Lysterfield and South Belgrave said he was just as good as Caleb, but he had his under 18 year ruined by injury.5 points

Merry Christmas all. Just a reminder, don’t drink and tattoo this festive season (courtesy of my “best mate”):4 points

On the topic of peroxide, in 2022 I was uhm-ing and ah-ing over whether to dye my hair blonde. Right before finals, Salo went back to blonde and that was the clincher for me! Waiting for us to be in at least a semi-final to temporarily dye my blonde hair red and blue one of these days...4 points

LOL The Carlton Canine Crew barks a Merry Christmas back at you (I am dogsitting my sister-in-laws pooch over the festive season) 🐶🎅🥂😊 Wishing all here a Demonic Christmas/Hanukah/Festivus and all the best in 2024 🍾🥂4 points

My wife is originally Vietnamese and until just a few years ago Christmas was a non-starter over there. On the other hand, aside from childhood, Christmas has been a non-event for me for decades. Ironically, she loves it and her workplaces have all done the loot tornado complete with all the obvious re-gifting and shenanigans going on and now we have this giant pile of little presents at home which are all for her! 🎁 I got my revenge by exploiting her Christmas novice status... she began a conversation about the expected weather over the Christmas break, so I wondered out loud... "Do you think it'll rein, deer?" Second-language speakers are a licence to reuse all the awful puns.4 points

Dunstan, Harmes, Hibberd and Jordon all out vs Billings, McAdam, Windsor and Thostrup in. Woedwodin is right at the heart of the puzzle of how we reorganise our midfield, wings and half-foward for 2024 and for years to come. Personally I'd like to see him more in the thick of things and avoiding any 'Spargofication' of becoming a low-possession smart-positioning outside type. My gut feeling from watching him is that he'll have some great awareness in the chaos and has an intuition for getting the ball to better places. Also, Taj Woewodin: UNDEFEATED.3 points

Basically what Deestar9 said couple of posts ago. He lost his Zip from 2021. 2022 ruined cos of the 2 knee operations then in the pre season 2023 got the Thyroid again after six years. lost weight and no Zip. Heart rate of 125 walking to the table. Resting to recover lost all fitness from the pre season work then hurt his knee again. The year was done really. Seems confident a good pre season will give him Zip again Spoke about Oliver and the club all getting united and attacking the problem head on. Not a bad few words really especially when it was in the HScum.3 points

I think the 2km time trial is more a measure of endurance (anaerobic capacity) than speed (what is define as "fast" on a footy field). It is absolutely one of Tomlinson's strengths, and has allowed him to play on the wing at GWS and to play on half forwards who roam up the ground. Unfortunately his agility (turning circle and direction change speed) has taken a hit since his ACL, which I think is one of the big things holding him back.3 points

Yes, it would be great, without risking breaching copyright (ie don’t cut and paste) to get a brief précis on what in particular he needs to come back from. NB knee, calf, thyroid, etc3 points

Due to expected high demand for Demonland on Christmas Day, from 12AM Dec 25 to 12AM Dec 26, please limit all posts to under 200 characters, and only one post per hour, to a max of six posts total. Thank you for your co-operation.3 points

Huge thanks to @Demonland & @Whispering_Jack for this outstanding site, plus Andy,@george_on_the_outer & @binman for our fantastic pods, and all genuine contributors to Demonland. As an ‘Interstater’ Demonland is my MFC / AFL ‘lifeblood’. Seasons greetings to all. Go Dee’s!3 points

The team's instagram put up a photo of Koz, AMW and McAdam all together recently. It feels just right to have all 3 boys tear it up in forward line next year.3 points

To All, Merry Christmas & Happy New Year The Dee's have unfinished business, and our list keeps getting better. I'm expecting a good year, where we win more than we lose. Especially wishing for, a great finals campaign, and belting Collingwood. (The QB will be a statement game, hopefully a positive one for us.) Be safe.3 points

Merry xmas to everyone on the forum. Enjoy this time with family, loved ones and take some time to relax and reflect on this year. I can only hope in 2024 Clayton Oliver can turn his life around, for his sake.3 points

Funny people have different views on games, I was surprised on the day he won it. He turned the ball over numerous times though, his run off half back was eye catching but after re watching that game a few times I haven’t changed my mind he’d be 5th at best in my BOG that day 1. McRae - every disposal connected and set up transition. Super clean all day and composed with ball in hand 2. Boyd - best big man on the ground impacted aerial contest all day by clunking or bringing the ball to ground and impacted the scoreboard 3. Kennedy - was just a contested beast, close to the best stoppage display in a GF, virtually turned the momentum himself in the second quarter 4. Picken - kept bobbing up as half forward providing pressure and hit up option whilst also impacting the scoreboard 5. Then JJ3 points

Thanks KC - for everything Casey over the year(s). Is Kai Windsor related to Caleb? Cheers2 points

Reckon he might have put on a bit of weight since the 91kg was measured, and looks to be moving with a bit more assurance at training as he starts to readjust to a code he hasn’t played for some years prior to last year.2 points

The big speccy on the goal line? Flash in the pan. A two handed shove out on Bowser’s shoulders. Great for the crowd and television audience but not in the spirit of the rules. But as we know karma kicked in massively and put Jojo and the rest on their arses.2 points

I like the look of Andy and I hope that he has a breakout year for us at Casey and also gets an opportunity to shine for us in 2024. AMW looks like a keeper.2 points

Lucas Cook was a different kettle of fish. My son watched his first training run with us and told me that Cook would never play a game with us, or in the AFL with anyone else. I laughed at the comment, as he was a high pick and it wasn’t possible we could get it so wrong. My son got it absolutely correct. Matt Jefferson is no Lucas Cook.2 points

Not true Cranky. I crapped on about Lucas Cook needing just a little more time from start to finish. It's all in the wording. Even now, not completely ready to let go.2 points

Not an easy thing to deal with, especially an athlete. Still his 2021 grand final game was epic. His intercept marking an off ball pressure went un-talked but but was nearly best on ground.2 points

Criminally underused by Goodwin. Even gets dropped after a career best performance.2 points
