The Cadman talk should just reiterate to people how good JVR is/has been for a second year player. He’s not necessarily kicked bags of goals or taken marks but he’s up to the physical challenge of AFL already16 points

What most commentators have missed about this last quarter stat is the incredible discipline, concentration and ruthlessness this team displays. It's not just fitness. It's complete mental toughness. So many teams take their foot off the gas once they've sealed the win. Not this team. They are just something else. I've never seen a footy team push so hard right to the end. In any comp at any level. Stinnear and his team have created something quite amazing. I love the way they just swing changes and it just works. We can't ever let this bloke go. He can teach the men's team lots! Such an exciting time for this club. I hope more supporters get on this train.13 points

leaving aside all the pro-filth sentiments in the media and afl, and looking at at it objectively, you would have to say that the filth had a very large dose of luck to even be in the gf with finals wins of 7 and 1 point, where in both cases their opponents were very stiff for a number of reasons. gf should really have been mfc/gws vs brisbane. please brisbane, humiliate the filth on saturday for the sake of humanity11 points

Shout out to Eden Zanker - worked so hard all night, repeatedly brought the ball to ground even when she was outnumbered or out-positioned, and kept scrambling for second and third efforts when it was on the ground, tackling, chasing. It was a huge effort to help fill the absence of Tayla.10 points

Had many many chances, but failed to nail a regular spot. his last game was very disappointing10 points

Agree with this wholeheartedly. Naughton is too good to say no too purely because of his set-shot kicking. It's just as much about the opportunities he'd create in the air. And in the air, there is nobody better. He marks it when he shouldn't, he creates carnage when he shouldn't and he is rarely if ever out-marked. Of all key forwards that we could pick, he'd suit us best. Another Ben Brown lead up target who relies on clean ball is not going to change us. Unless we drastically change our list. Naughton would be huge but are these just rumours or is there something here?10 points

We kicked 16.28 in the last two games of the year. I love Choc, don’t get me wrong, but the hype around his ‘magical cure’ for poor-kicking is ridiculous.10 points

It’s laughable people saying no to Naughton. With our dump kicking he will mark some, creates spillage on others but he at least wins contests in the air. Outside of petty for two games we had pretty much no one doing it consistently.9 points

Very good win by a very professional team. Our ability forward of the ball is what sets us apart and our trust in team mates to not just hack the ball forward but hold onto it and carry it with handballs. Lots of teams have good midfielders but so much of it is quick dump kicks that are easy to defend. We have dynamic forwards and power runners that allow us to create space forward of the play and use it to score. That’s why we do so well late in games because we expose any drop off in running by carrying the ball forward and forcing them to defend in space. It’s especially effective in AFLW because a long kick isn’t as effective an alternative. It’s the old saying that your reward for running hard early in the game doesn’t come until late in the game.8 points

Methodical. Its so commanding - you get annoyed when players aren’t perfect. The connection they have with each other on the counter is pure gold and glory. The men’s team can learn something from this group when it comes to decision making and using hands and not panicking around the 50. Decent crowd on the camera side and that Aimee Mackin move off the back flank toward centre wing was absolute dynamite.8 points

There's an article suggesting Port may look to us or Sydney to split their future first for multiple 2nd round picks. If we go down that route we should have an advantage as we are surely going to get at least one of Sydney's 2nd rounders. @adonski death ride 2024 may be on, port edition8 points

Good player. played 65 games in 3 years (51 games if you don't count sub as games) Probably the most unlucky player ever. Played 25 games in his first season in 2021 but did not play in the GF. Just brutal Wish him all the best8 points

Quite the dichotomy this… Head injuries are generally bad, concussions end careers and affect the long term quality of life of some players. However, on this occasion, it would be cathartic to see that bozo knocked the [censored] out in the first quarter - if not the first five minutes.8 points

This has been debunked by Sam Edmund as pure guess work from a random nuffy supporter who texted in to SEN. SEN then did some follow up work. Edmund on to say that he doesn't think there is anything in the works and that Melbourne are now acknowledging that games need to be put into the younger players instead of going out and buying big. Sorry to disappoint.7 points

Meh, another draft pick to add to our war chest. JJ had some games where I thought wow he's playing well today, and others where I had to double check if he was selected. Not the type of player we'd over value and be desperate to keep, right call by both parties.7 points

Come on Swannies, pay JJ 200k extra and we’ll chip in 200k for Grundy. Let’s get that end of first round pick7 points

I am going to the game on Saturday and taking a sign which reads “I’m Just Here To Boo Bruz”. If you don’t hear from me again, it’s genuinely been nice knowing all (most) of you.7 points

Mind boggling. We are not talking u12's country football here. This is AFLW, the highest level possible. Over a year since a goal kicked against us in a 4th quarter and we are scoring at nearly double the rate this year. We are truly seeing a freakishly brilliant football team and coach that I hope all MFC supporters appreciate. Wow!6 points

This team is something special! How they adapt to each oppositions strengths is just exceptional. Cats were super tough at the footy early and we just ramped it up around the footy and took away their strength whilst allowing the rest of our game to shine. Unbelievable! So rapt for them ❤️💙❤️💙6 points

Kate Hore is next level. Best skilled fwd in the game West is an animal around the ball Aimee Mackin is playing her 2nd ever game of AFL. Next year she will be our best player We look unbeatable at the moment. Fantastic coaching. 18 scoring shots to 5. against a good team6 points

How exactly does throwing (well deserved) rocks at Maynard improve his chances of anything? Not by enough to stop me venting. Sorry.6 points

What difference would he have made? It's wild to think that if we don't lose Gus, Petty, JVR and Melksham we probably win the flag. Grundy not playing was inconsequential to our woes in the end6 points

Unfortunately for JJ, he was stuck in and couldn’t work his way out of the bottom 6 players getting chosen, the ones we need to improve upon to go deeper in finals. He has virtually no weapons in his repertoire and is a meat and potatoes footballer (not a bad thing, just not what we need). Good luck to him 👍6 points

You guys that don’t care are crazy his young and a little inconsistent but his a good player his still early 20s6 points

Thought Jordon had a rough run in & out of the side BUT you can't dispute that he had plateaued. Wish him luck but not devo at this announcement.6 points

I have always loved naughton, particularly the way he flys at the ball. And he is a natural forward who times his leads super well. Personally I think that was a key issue for us late in the season. With no bb, melk out and jvr missing the blues game we didn't have natural forwards leading to the right spots forcing the ball carrier to make a good decision. You make a fair point about Petty's injury history. But assuming he does stay fit, a forward line with Petty, JVR (who after another preseason will go to another level), Fritter and McAdam - with bb, tmac and schache as back up - is not too shabby. So I don't think using up so much capital on another forward is what we should be focused on. I say this every year, but I'm clueless about the trade and drafting markets and all the related palaver. I get all my Intel from dl and am always amazed at the knowledge of posters in this space. So I've got no idea who is available or if these players are even remote possibilities. But if I were in charge of recruitment I'd be focusing on getting in: - one or two quality high half forwards who are elite athletes and decent kicks (ie two more nibblers - who by the by was our best kick inside 50 this year in terms of kick to score ratio). Bedford would be ideal (yes I know he ain't going anywhere) - a mid size half forward/utility/mid who is an elite athlete, above average to elite kick, wins their own ball and kicks goals (the player type I'm thinking of is McCarthy and Bailey from the lions. Sparrow is our equivalent. We need more sparrows) - a distributor from half back (or wing or outside mid) with elite kicking and decision making skills who can reliably execute difficult, high risk kicks - even under intense pressure (salo and bowey have been these players for us, but for diff reasons neither were able to play that role to the required level this season. I'm thinking of players like locasious, Coleman and anderson) - a second ruck (I've got no idea who)6 points

If we had a proper home base we wouldn't go out in straight sets, we'd be the undefeated champions of the universe!6 points

JJ didn't get on the field because we didn't have an injured player. Stop blaming Goody for everything.5 points

I reckon the odds of McLean coming to us as part of the Grundy trade is a fair chance. He played 22 games in the ruck and fwd, kicked 21 goals. He won't be playing much with Grundy there. Only 24. Him and Gawn would work nicely together 197cm 99kg about to enter his prime. Swans have a lot of talls If not him, then one of their tall fwds. They will have Reid, McDonald and Amartey. Can't really play all three Or even throw in the unknown Jack Buller. 199cm fwd/ruck. 22yo, done well in the WAFL last year apparently.5 points

Well, i'll wager both will finish top 10 in the bluey. A couple more top 10 players can't hurt!5 points

Well thats no good. I'm sure JT will run the rule over him before we'd consider any trade and i have total faith in his judgment. I'm confident we'll make the right call. Perhaps he has been unsettled in Sydney from the get-go which has impacted his development? Change of environment might be what he needs??5 points

Looking at the two videos of Viney and Petracca with their 3 vote games floating around on socials, they were both working really well with Grundy earlier in the year. It's a pity.5 points
