If you win the QF you get a home Prelim. If you lose the QF or win an EF, the Prelim is an away game. If we win our first QF regardless of location and regardless of opponent, our Prelim is at the MCG. Even if the opponent finished higher.12 points

Goodnight and goodbye Cats. I have long dreamt of your death, but I never imagined your demise would taste this delicious. May you never win another game for as long as I live. The stage is yours @rpfc11 points

Saw a tweet that said Albo should declare a public holiday when Essendon win a final 😂10 points

I was told in early July, from an insider, that Grundy will be at the Sydney Swans next year, in a 2-3 club mega deal. Of course things can change, but that was the planning as of then. very interesting to see what happens. I still think we may use Brodie in September….9 points

Ladies and gentlemen, today we gather to bid farewell to the Geelong Football Club, a team that provided endless, until now, joy to a backwards people that like two thing; pingers and surfing. With a penchant for government money and an uncanny ability to recruit absolute chards, the Cats have been a source of pain for those of us who relished in their misfortunes. Their legacy of shattered dreams has now been renewed and long may it flourish. The way they managed to raise hopes only to let them plummet into the depths of despair was a true masterpiece of psychological torment. The Geelong Football Club served as a stark reminder that even the most seemingly formidable opponents can be brought down by hubris and Jack freaking Higgins. Through their numerous grand final losses and heartbreaking defeats, the Cats inadvertently united their adversaries in a shared delight of witnessing their downfall. Recent history put to one side, we will always be grateful for the unforgettable moments of schadenfreude they provided us, reminding us that even the mightiest can stumble when it matters most. So let us not mourn the demise of the Geelong Football Club, but instead celebrate the joy that this has brought to the football community, as we revel in the joy of what the Matildas have done these last few weeks, can we also shed a happy tear for a September where Chris Scott can wail and groan violently to kitchen staff as his Tex Mex takes just that little bit too long on his stop in Dallas as he tours international clubs looking for someone who wants to talk to him. May this legacy be one of humility and a testament to the shared humanity and grace of those that only go over the Westgate to get to the Hume the other way when it’s bonkers up at the ring road. SIGNED @rpfc @Jaded No More Note: call them chards, rp. It’s like a beet or something.7 points

Who remembers the top 4 bombers??! 8 wins 4 losses easy draw all year. aside from north and WC they have won 1 game since round 12 Suck on it. hard7 points

I think Goody has handled this whole Grundy situation perfectly. I think the plan was to give the Gawndy combo one more look before finals which was last week, and it simply didn't work. All good, I have no issues with giving it one more game and I think in hindsight if Goodwin had his chance again he might no have selected last week. Barring an injury to Gawn from here I think we've seen the last of Grundy in red and blue as I believe he'll request a trade (would be silly not to for his own career sake).7 points

If you were in the Demonland Pub and loudly asked that question, you would be yelling ‘Anyone?’ over about 15 people telling you ‘we would go and get someone to backup Gawn who is less expensive and more comfortable playing less and/or playing more forward’ So meek posturing aside - if Grundy wants to go we will facilitate and that recalibration may make us a better team.7 points

They will just recruit one, Max has 2 years left. There are plenty of young rucks playing in the 2’s who would develop under Max7 points

I hate when Tom Hawkins looks like a nice bloke. Makes it much harder to hate him. Don’t worry. I’ll find a way.6 points

I slept in, had 4 hours in the garden, followed by 4 hours to myself to do nothing but flick between Demonland and the live footy, fish 'n chips for dinner, and now a nice Heathcote region shiraz. Feeling good. And I got to watch some Bomber v Giants and see the final score. The English language in all its beauty does not hold enough words to describe the jubilation of seeing the Bombers annihilated. I hate them more than Greta Thunberg hates petrol cars, plastic bags and rational thinking. Long may they suffer and rot. And now I am feeling very, very good.6 points

Feeling a lot of sadness for the Essendon supporters. Must be difficult for them.6 points

Will always love Jesse. So happy for him and how his career has ended up at GWS.6 points

For the Younger Members of ‘Land who have never seen or even contemplated Carlton, being good. Get ready. The whole Club and Supporters totally suck. They cheated the Salary cap for over 30 years (1965-2000) with no conscience at all. There motto was always “We are Carlton, F$&@ the Rest…. You have been warned….6 points

I know it's tedious to talk about, but my only fear going into the finals is not any particular club, or venue, but poor umpiring in key momentum shifting moments.6 points

Potentially top 2 and Top 8 positions decided by poor ARC technology/procedures. It's simply not good enough. Either get better tech or let the humans make mistakes and don't review anything at all.5 points

Good to see Jesse Hogan up and about. Wish him every success and 0 possessions vs Steven May in a 100 point loss on grand final day.5 points

This was the original plan I believe. But the problem is that Gawn has no forward craft and is not a good converter. A lot of skeptics felt the combo wouldn’t work and to Goody’s credit, he swallowed his pride and abandoned it as soon as he realized it was a bust. Gawn will play for 2-3 more years which is way too long for Grundy to wait. Grundy will seek a trade and we’ll oblige. Maybe a second round pick comes our way. It happens. No hard feelings and move on IMO.5 points

Remember weeks ago the media spoke about Essendon potentially making the top 4?😂5 points

So @Mach5 what I think you meant to say is that premiership player, and lifelong Demons supporter, James Harmes is currently on the fringes of our best 22. Therefore, a move to another club where he would get more game time could be in his best interests. This, in turn, would give our Football department more flexibility in negotiating a deal such as muted by @BigMacjnr and @Romey.5 points

Hawthorn won’t fold the way GC did, either. If we fall 40 down, all hell is going to break loose. A good start tomorrow will do wonders for our hearts.5 points

Bit of early crow there boys? Seems Max is playing fit and well at this time of year compared with this time last year. I think that's got to do with the ruck minutes he's shared with Brodie throughout the year, ruck minutes we wouldn't have been able to confidently put into a third stringer. So there's that contribution from Brodie in the bank. I noticed that Mason Cox came on last night and played with a purpose to put his name in front of the Collingwood selectors for the first final, and we're likely to be their opponent. Are you completely happy for Max to go solo against Cameron and Cox if that's the way it turns out - particularly with Cox's tendency to try to hurt Max? What if we lose and face Carlton in week 2 with Pittonet and TDK vs a beaten up Max, again solo? There's a bit of water to flow under the bridge ...5 points

This would be one of those things that happened when you were living overseas - we helped facilitate breast cancer awareness and some men were so secure in their sexuality that they could wear pink/salmon clothing. Still there are some that projected their own homophobic self hatred but that’s a history lesson for a different mirror.5 points

If Grundy goes, we will pick up an aging ruck, or 2nd tier ruck for a couple of years, until Verall and KF develop.5 points

What's bizarre is why did we never try (not once), Gawn behind the ball with Grundy rucking? It's really one of the great mysteries to 2023 and it's annoying me. :P5 points

I usually like analysing the game, looking for what is causing teams to rise and/or fall. But I am going for a 'big call'. The Dees would be nearly unstoppable if we had Jesse Hogan still with us. I still love watching him. His work rate and forward craft today v the Bombers has been a tutorial in forward play.4 points

I am still filthy at the Oliver HTB decision that cost us a goal last week, when I see 20+ in this game and about 15 of them by Carlton.4 points

My son and I are trident members and we sit in the Southern stand. We are also Demon Army members. 1. Its a worthwhile donation, they play an important role on game day. 2. It enhances the interstate experience. There is usually a pre game and you get to sit with like minded fans during the game. Its very good value for money spent.4 points

I think we want Port to defeat Freo so we finish 4th. I think it's most likely that Collingwood defeats Essendon next week and finishes top. QF vs Collingwood at the MCG has more appeal than vs Brisbane at the Gabba.4 points

I also love that he's NOT in anyone else's team. All our premiership rivals would be better with Grundy.4 points
