  1. 73 inside 50’s. 5 goals 15 behinds. This team is robbing me of the will to live.

  2. To be clear, they won’t end our season. We will. We are beating ourselves. We are losing games to sides who don’t play well, who don’t play better for longer, but who take advantage of our mistakes. We are ending our own season by failing to fix fundamental problems.

  3. Goody is in dangerous territory of doing what Beverage has done to the dogs, keeps his job after a flag but then screws up a good list in a premiership window because he can't adapt a gamestyle or system that can actually win games of football. Said in post game last week that it is all talk with goody and that no tangible change will ever happen and he's proving me right, we can all see what is happening in front of us including him and yet it actually looks like we're getting worse. He'll talk about how that was the game we expected and GWS were good and that there are learnings to take from it, same thing over and over and we'll continue to lose the exact same way and continue to be inefficient entering the forward 50 and trying to convert, All talk zero walk.

  4. Fwiw it's Goody's 150th game as coach for the Dees. Definitely deserves recognition regardless of how we have felt with his coaching of recent.

  5. Well , I don't want to upset the Alice Springs tourism people but I can confirm, it's a miserable grey drizzly morning. And ... on that note ..... I'm heading off to find a decent bistro with the intention of consuming a huge breakfast. Dees by 27 points !

  7. It is getting increasingly difficult to take positives from games that we dominate in every key stat, but lose with diabolical forward half play and frankly embarrassing goal kicking.

  10. ANB is a momentum killer Runs hard, does lots of 1%ers, can't kick, turns it over at critical times, fumbles incessantly, terrible below the knees for a small forward

  12. This is 100% a coaching and strategy issue. Bringing in Brown and Harmes was applauded on this forum. I just can't fathom it. Naturally, JVR killed it at Casey. I really wish we'd stop with this trying to recapture 2021 form BS. We need to move on otherwise we're going to get caught out and the wheels will fall off. We lost today at the selection table and in the coach's box.

  14. I'm the furthest thing from an expert you'll find on this site but basing your game on creating forward half turnovers means you're inevitably kicking into a heavily congested forward line where pinpoint passing to a target can be so important, particularly in challenging conditions. In contrast a clearly inferior opposition fed off our scraps and on the few occasions they got out the back had a paddock to run into. I get more frustrated by really cheap misses early like Fritta today and Joel Smith last week. This game could have been over before it ever became an arm wrestle.

  15. No, we didn’t Chandler 12 disposals @83%, 4 score involvements Bedford 9 disposals @55%, 1 score involvement. Did lay 7 tackles but wasn’t great. 6 goals for the year vs Chin’s 15

  16. Great defensive effort again and winning clearance easily even without Oliver. Petracca has 12 goals 19 behinds and 15 complete misses for the season. That, unfortunately is our season in summary. When arguably our best and most talented player can't finish the great work that the defence, and often himself in the midfield, starts we need look no further. Goal kicking is fundamental to success in footy. I remember the great North team of the late 90's coughing up the 1998 flag due to horrible kicking in the GF that year. It's such a waste of talent. Unlike most here, I don't lay the blame at Goodwin's feet. These guys are professional footballers, mostly paid big money to kick goals. Up until 5 or 6 weeks ago they were doing it. What has changed?

  17. +70 disposals, +15 frees, +42 CPs, +19 clearances, +8 shots on goal, +27 inside 50s(!), but we lose. It’s not loading, it’s not personnel (albeit we’re missing two of our 5 best players), it’s some combination of coaching and skill. If we felt OK dropping Tomlinson after KB we should have dropped Smith after last week, instead of the better forward in JVR. We can’t make that mistake again. Brown’s a lumbering giant yet in the wet he had more touches than Smith and Melksham combined. This is the FD’s last chance to make changes to the 23, the way we try to score, and the way we play, because we cannot keep doing this.

  20. I know it won't happen, but I would love to see Goody just mix things up today. • Bowey to a half forward and give us some clean delivery amd poise going inside 50. • Midfield shake up. Get Brayshaw out of there and get Salem in a few starting centre bounce set up. The only one with poise and smarts around the field. Throw Kozzie in there just to give us a bit of speed and flair. • Harmes to tag. Again, won't happen, but we're better team when he's fully locking down on their best mid whether that's Kelly, Congilio, or Green. Compensate for not having Oliver there.

  21. Keep Toby Greene quiet (either tight defending or restrict supply) we will win the game. And kick straight. Can we please just kick straight.

  24. Has been unbelievable all season and especially since Clarry went down. Superb game from him yet again. The effort across the board was very good. You can’t question the commitment or the hardness. We played very good strong contested footy. But we cannot execute simple skills and we make some mind boggling decisions going forward. It is why Bowey, Salem and McVee stand out so much. Because their ball use is at top tier god levels, and the rest are at VFL reserves levels.

  25. Not even the most optimistic, supportive poster on this site can deny how putrid the team was today. I will calm down eventually but right now I am disgusted. Pickett, Harmes and ANB need to all make room for different players next week, and I don’t give a [censored] which players those are.

  28. Standing and watching the captains run yesterday in the cold, has added another meaning to the phrase dedicated supporter. I can attest that the sausages were hot cheerfully served and plentiful. I shall be leaving the unit to trudge the 300m to the ground looking like a red and blue Michellin Man, and join other supporters on the hill (at the Grange tent...I hope). Of all the players kicking the ball around yesterday, Bowey impressed me the most, his bullet passes just dont miss.

  29. That is a phenomenal coaching record. 150 games for 58% win loss ratio and a flag. Absolutely brilliant! Here is to another 150 games and at least one more flag 😉

  30. Really flat after that performance. We have no excuses. Can’t kick for goal to save our lives. Entry inside was terrible. Same old problems. I’m normally optimistic even after a loss but the penny dropped for me today, We’re not winning a flag this year😔

  31. We had a good thing going with Tomlinson in defence, allowed us to go with Petty/JVR forward - what the hell are they thinking?
    7 points
  32. I just don’t think the forward half intercept game is working anymore. We’re too pressed up leading to repeat entries that are just so poor quality. There’s no quality entries at all. What makes matters worse is that if the opposition wins it back they have loads of space and have easier opportunities. Goodwin and co need to bring the defenders back more. The press is just too high and it’s killing our forward entries.

  33. We only have ourselves to blame. Kicking 5.15 for the whole game is simply disgusting. I can't emphasise how painful we are to watch at the moment.

  37. Bowey does not have the tank to play nibbler's role. Just about noone else does. Not yet. I find it so perplexing why people still callfor nibbler to be dropped. I mean, for one thing, he plays a very specific role, one tmac had said is the HARDEST role in football (his words, not mine), that there isn't an immediate replacement for. And leaving that aside, he has been selected in the ones for almost every game for two and half season. He has played something like 58 of our last 60 games for pete's sake. And that includes a premiership. Is there another player who can boast that record? Goody is a premiership coach, with a 58% win record. The idea that nibbler being one of the first picked and a best 22 lock is somehow related to goody having favorites, being stubborn or irrationally 'glued' to nibbler is an insult to goody. I mean c'mon, goody is the business of winning flags. If he didn't think nibbler helps us achieve that goal he's not in the side. Simple.

  40. You can’t fault the effort or the contested work BUT forward of centre is dreadful. Lumping the ball to a congested goal square will sometimes work IF you have the quality smalls to crumb and score. We don’t have those smalls. We have a serious problem with our forward personnel. We’re not a bottom 6 side as some on here would have it, but we are a fair way off the likes of Brisbane, Port and Collingwood this year. What’s the solution? With Fritsch likely out for some time, the coaches will need to radically change things up now. However, the seeming lack of creativity to fix the forward line woes, would suggest we will still keep bombing it in. On a positive note - Viney was great, McVee fantastic again and a very good first game back for Bowey.

  44. When you're coming off the ground at halftime and Gus says our game is looking good offensively and we've kicked 2 goals 9, i reckon theres an issue with accepting mediocrity. Not sure we will be able to make finals from here. How mark stafford still has a job is beyond me.
